Taadaa, sorry you're feeling so rubbish and things aren't going to plan x just think though in a few days you'll be having mummy cuddles. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though that it all happens naturally over the weekend x x0

Aw Taadaa, hope things happen on their own for you before Monday!
I'm reading Ina May Gaskill's book at the moment, their method of induction appears to be s*x (with lots of nipple action! - and get the man juices onto that cervix!) or a little castor oil first thing in the morning either in the orange juice or the scrambled eggs (1 Tbsp) with an extra tablespoon later if that didn't work.... Not suggesting you should try it without investigating possible risks but....? I can dig out the exact paragraph for you later if you want.
Our NCT teacher said that there are very good results with acupuncture?0 -
PS: take it they've tried a sweep?0

I went to the consultant today and they said I do not need to go back there, just see the midwife from now on. I have a question, though, I am 34+5 and I have never had any cervix check or any look down there, is that normal? When do they start checking? Who does that? I have only ever had the belly measured with tape, one set of blood tests and the baby's heart monitor on. I asked today if baby was down and then the dr just pressed down and said she is not engaged but she is almost in position. Nothing else, should I ask for anything done?
I asked them to send me to the physio because I cannot walk very well now and my hip really hurts all the time, plus it makes "clak" noises even in bed when turning around, as if something were out of place.
I am concerned they are missing something, never had any check down there or any sweep to check any bacteria or anything, I though they checked that now?Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Our NCT teacher said that there are very good results with acupuncture?
Near where I live there is a physio-yoga-accupuncture centre, when I asked a couple of months ago about prices and if their treatments are suitable for pregnancy, they told me that they had a few pregnant ladies around full term who gave birth the following day after having a long acupuncture of reflexology session. Something to do apparently with releasing certain chemicals when relaxed and this triggering the hormone oxy-something, whatever it is called. I will certainly give it a try if I am full term, not cheap, like £40-£60 the full hour, but it cannot hurt, the worst that can happen is that you end up completely relaxed!!!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

No, they don't check. The only time they are worried about your cervix is if you're in labour or overdue, and the bacteria swab isn't routinely done as it doesn't matter if you have the bacteria now it matters if you have it in labour, and if you have it now it might be gone by labour, or if you don't have it now it might be there by labour! The NICE guidelines cover this if you are bored and fancy a long read.0

Please be careful with castor oil and like Savage says investigate the risks of it fully. Castor oil gives your diarrhea and it can pass on to the baby causing them to poo whilst inside you, the meconium on their lungs can cause problems. It's quite difficult to buy castor oil nowadays anyway because of the risks.I have never had any cervix check or any look down there, is that normal? When do they start checking?
They don't check your cervix till you are 40 weeks or in labour hun. And then it will be either the midwife or doctor. They check to see how dilated you are. xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx
