*waves arms* it was me Aida (Bamama :P). It's basically saying that what ever your usual contract says... be it the minimum 28 days or the 28+w/e your company gives you... you will still earn them all during maternity.
Don't look at them as "bank holidays". If you are off on ML/sick leave on a day that the company decided was a day off... then you'd get that day back to use at another time :)

That makes sense now...I'm such a numpty sometimes...

    Perhaps because is Halloween?

I need to buy a dressing gown for hospital. What type should I buy? A A fluffy one like this ONE or a lightweight like this ONE?

Hi Aida It can be very warm in hospital so I would not suggest anything too warm and cosy. Also, you may want to go for a darker colour. I found mine got a little messy (!) Hope that helps.

I think it's more quiet because all the gobby ones have had babies lol so moved onto other threads.

I would go for the thin one hun as hospitals can be terrible for the heating and if its fluffy and the heating is on you may feel more uncomfy.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I'd go for the lightweight one. I got a dark satiny one from TK Maxx for less than a tenner.

I have got also a black thin one from TkMaxx at £12, it has hidden pockets and lace around the wrists. The rest of the fabric is just like light cotton. Very comfy.

I cannot make myself prepare the hospital bag, though. The other day I only took the.bag and put it by the side of the rest of my stuff... :(

This is what I am planning to put in there. What do you think?

    hospital bag
    Notes and birth plan
    Maternity pads: 20
    Breast pads: 1 pack
    Witch hazel: 1 bottle
    Dressing gown
    1 long t-shirt for birth
    1 nightie for afterwards
    Slippers ( sleepers? Sp?)
1 maternity bra ( plus the one I will be wearing)
    Disposable knickers
    Camera and music in mobile
Pack of newborn: 3 sleepsuits with hat, gloves and vests
    Sudocream
    Towel
    Snacks for DH
    Coins for car park
1 comfy outfit for leaving hospital
Blanket for baby for leaving hospital
Phone charger ( so I can read or watch videos if bored)
    Hairband
Small shower gel ( travel size)
    6 newborn nappies

If I need to stay over, DH can bring extra stuff from home.
Am I missing anything or taking stuff I do not need?

  • Hi Marta,
List looks good... But I remember others saying it can be noisy do you might want to add ear plugs to the list!

Aida, sorry about earlier... I posted then ran off and left you! I was trying to sort out the kitchen... We are getting a new one delivered tomorrow- god knows where it's all going to go! My father in law is going to fit it for us to save money.. Just means it might take a bit longer! I have a feeling I will be leaving in a mess for a couple of weeks!

Got too carried away crocheting tonight. Finished a hat for OH :)

Thought I'd have a quick check on my phone... Aida... numpty has been my word of the month XD even my boss has started using it.

Oh and I've noticed that you've all been complaining it's been quiet. But only since I joined... am I scaring people away!? Or just scaring them into labour? :P
