Thank you. It's all very odd knowing that its (in theory) going to start tomorrow, rather than happening more randomly, but I'm 10 days overdue and have a really achey pelvis and back, and am not sleeping at all, so in a way I am ready to have him now. On the other hand, I'm so scared of giving birth, and what to do with a baby and would rather keep him on the inside for a bit longer. Also felt a bit sad at the thought of not dressing my bump anymore after tomorrow - how weird! x0

Good luck moneypuddle!!! You should be 93% excited and 7% terrified, though!
In my hypnobirth CD leaflet there was a thought that I found calming, this is a summary: it said that if we think about how mammals give birth, they usually find a quiet area, do their nesting and quietly and calmly give birth. They do not cry in pain, but they usually just pant a bit and all that. The more "civilised" the culture is, the more embedded is the idea that labour has to be painful, an idea reinforced and written in our subconscious by lots of films and tv series where all the births are painful, all the pregnancies are just vomiting and hysteria, etc. However, that does not need to be so. The problem is that the more we fear, the more adrenalin is released, and the adrenalin does not allow the oxytocin [sp?] to be released, which is the one that prepares your body for birth. So in theory, the more relaxed you manage to be, the easier it will be because you will allow your body to create that much needed hormone and avoid the adrenaline, which puts us in a fighting or danger state and slows labour. Evolution and nature are wise, they would not put the baby in there if it were so difficult and dangerous to get it out! Lol Whether I will be able to relax that much as to behave like a pregnant cow giving birth, I do not know, but I am willing to try!!! Try not to worry, once you are in there, think that the following day at the same hour you probably will be holding your baby and resting. How good is that?!
Oh, mrs_B, I might have missed that arnica bath because I actually typed in the search box "arnica bath", and if that is the one, it does not have "arnica" in the name, but probably in the ingredients... argh, I cannot change the order now!!!I will have to have a look in store next time I go. Have you gotten the parenting bag for free? I think that is the one that Boots gives you if you are in the parent club. We bought very similar things! I bought the Pampers sensitive wipes, though, I hope they are ok, I bought 4 packets too!! I will try them out when I get them, I can always use them myself and buy other ones for the baby.

That's a good way of thinking about giving birthI'm more worried by the fact I'm not worried or phased about giving birth! I'm sure that'll change as I get closer, although I was the same when we got married last year, no nerves or worries or stress at all, ever.
I was looking for something arnica in the name but I think I have the right one. It was the only one I could find that had arnica in it!
I did get the bag freeI only bought the one pack of nappies with 25 in because we're not really attached to a particular brand or have had any recommendations with regards to a specific type/brand.
The wipes were ok for me if I kept them away from my eyes but they seemed to irritate my eyesI've been ok with the Huggies Pure though. You could always see how you get on with them, you could be the opposite to me!

I will try to scan the leaflet and post it tomorrow morning. I am calling it hypnobirth but the CD I am talking about is different, it is a UK method about preparation for birth that has a very similar approach. I have also a hypnobirth book, I will give it a go. It cannot harm, it is all about relaxation techniques, positive thinking and visualization, not about what it is popularly known as hypnosis but a way to get your subconscious into being relaxed and let your body do its thing. Even if it just helps me to be more relaxed.and thus help with the oxytocin production, it will have been worth it. I think savage is also reading a similar thing.
Mrs_b, I also was completely relaxed on my wedding, we both were, only when saying the vows I got nervous because I was worried about saying something wrong or not making sense! That said, we did not have any family around, no reception and no complicated planning, by choice, which probablymade it a more relaxing event! We got married on a cruiseQuit smoking *1st January 2010*
