  • Marta, Im also taking a cabin suitcase. I have my things in it as well as babies. I do have a separate going home bag that OH will bring when we need it, just with some clothes for me and babies

    I took a cabin suitcase and a 'weekender' type bag. They didn't really mind, as long as it could fit in the locker or under the bed :) I had an end bed so had space at the window too for stuff. Do not let your OH take away stuff without your knowledge though, I had to leave the hospital wearing slippers as I only discovered I had no shoes when it came time to leave :rotfl:

  • Hi Marta. I have the same - a cabin wheeley suitcase for me, a Babymoov changing bag for baby plus another gift bag that has my CD player, CDs and food in it. You'll be fine!

    Another vote for the wheeley cases here, I took one case with both mine and baby's stuff in for aft the birth, and a backpack with snacks and stuff for before and during (was induced so had a good few hours of hanging around).

    I highly recommend physically showing your OH (or birth partner) where essentials like baby's first set of clothes are in the bag - I was pretty well out of it on gas and air while they stitched me up which led to OH going right through my carefully packed case to find the Jiffy bag with vest etc in (which was safely tucked in the lid pocket so it was easy to find)!

    Thank you all for that input! I am relieved to know it is normal to take a small suitcase! Almost ready then :D

    I went on a shopping spree online, I bought:
    Tippitoes Mini bath
    Tippitoes baby sponge
    6 packs of 20 Raspberry Leaf Teabags
    Boots maternity pads x 2 packs of 12 [I was given one, so now I have 3]
    Lansinoh nursing pads
    Avent bath & room thermometer
    Pampers sensitive 4 packs of 56 wipes [£5.61]
    Distilled Witch Hazel
    Sudocream
    toiletries that I needed for the house and Dentinox Cradle Cap shampoo just because I needed another item under £3 to get the 2x3 at Boots offer, so this item was effectively free.

    What I still have to buy: Milton Cold Water sterilizer with tablets, but I will wait until it is on offer or I get a Mothercare voucher for free delivery. The moses bedding or sleeping bag. A coat for baby. Footmuff or cosytoes. Baby nail clippers and hairbrush. Nursing bra.... and I am all set up!!!! :D

    sexymouse, I could not find the Mum & Me Arnica Bath Soap, where did you buy it? I found other "Arnica Bath Soap" in Amazon, but I wasn't sure if it would be as good and I did not know the brands.

    raspberry leaf tea, how many cups of tea should you have of this tea? I calculated 2 per day, which would be the 120 I ordered from Amazon, Clippers Organic, 6 packs at £8.11 free del, not sure if it is a good price or not, it is done now!

    For baby clothes, I have been given these:
    7 sleepsuits
    6 vests
    2 hats
    2 mittens
    2 dresses
    2 t-shirts
    4 pairs of socks
    about 20 muslin cloths!!

    Do you think I need to buy anything else for the first few weeks? I was thinking of a coat, but I think I am sorted so far with these clothes, chances are my MIL brings even more when the baby is here, she did mention she has bought a few bits.

    Arnica bath soak was from Sainsbugs marta - it's currently cheapest in Asda at the mo. RLT - I took my dosage from this link on the birth list, although it made me get really painful braxton hicks so I had to stop taking it in the end.
    Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

    Thank you, sexymouse. I might have plenty of RLT if I have to start with 1 cup, I will see how it goes and stop it if I have similar effects. I do not have an Asda nearby, I will have a look at Sainsb next time. Thank you!!!

    I've had a lovely day today :) A nice lie in with DH, then we had a look at the mothercare checklist we picked up in store the other day & DH feels much better having been through it as we're much more organised than he thought :D We had some lunch & when he left for work at 2pm, I went to Meadowhall to do some shopping & have a pedicure done which was long overdue :p

    I went on a bit of a spree in Boots :) I picked up the following bits;
    • 1 x 60 Lansinoh breast pads (not really sure how many boxes of these I'll need to get to get me through the first week or so but thought 1 is a start!)
    • 1 x 4-pack of Huggies pure wipes (I've tried the pampers sensitive ones & they made my eyes sore, whereas I've used these & found them great so figured they're worth a try with Bean)
    • 1 x 25 Pampers New Baby Size 1 Nappies (not really sure on how many nappies we'll go through or what size we should buy but I wanted to pick up the free changing bag with the parenting club voucher so got these as a start)
    • 1 x Cussons Mum & Me New Mum Calm & Soothe Bath Soak (I think this is the arnica one that sexymouse has & after such a rave review thought I definitely needed to invest in some for after Bean arrives!)
    • 1 x bag of cotton wool balls
    • 2 x Boots Own Maternity Pads
    • 1 x Parenting club changing bag
    And then I went to Mothercare & bought a few more bits :p;
    I think we're pretty much sorted with clothes now. We've bought quite a few bits (on top of the bits I've bought today!), some in newborn, some in 0-3mths, some in 3-6mths. It's all very, very cute! I'm so excited & we've got about 15 1/2 wks left until D-day so it seems like an eternity but I'm sure it'll fly! We need to have a sit down & organise everything before we can be completely sure but we've definitely got enough to get us through the first few weeks! I'm tempted to get a special going home outfit but it's not an essential :rotfl:

    We have our travel system already. I bought it from a colleague at work & it's near enough brand-new :T It's this one but in a diffent colour way... http://www.silvercross.co.uk/pram-systems/Linear-Freeway/ebony/ ...and it has this car seat in a different colour way... http://www.silvercross.co.uk/car-seats/ventura-plus/ebony/ :) We wanted the option of a flat bed pram because I'm hoping to get out & about walking as the surestart is within walking distance of our apartment, as are quite a bit of our family :D

    The main thing we need to do now is get started with the nursery :o We've bought a cot bumper but not much else! We're umming & ahhing about our cotbed. We have 3 cats, 2 of whom are over 6kg a piece so we're concerned about having a moses basket for fear of it getting knocked over if they have a giddy half hour :( We've been looking at this cot... http://www.mamasandpapas.com/product-stokke-sleepi-mini-natural/218402800/type-i/ ...because it can be extended into a cotbed later on but can be moved around the house in the early days like a moses basket could be but looks more sturdy than a moses basket. It seems quite expensive though (although its on offer at the minute & you get the bouncer included with it) & as Bean gets older I'm not sure if, as a cotbed, its too cot like for a toddler :o We're trying to find somewhere to have a look at it assembled as we're a bit wary of buying it without having seen it in person first! The others we've been looking at are much more traditional cotbeds but we'll then need to get a moses baskets as well. Anyone got any thoughts or recommendations?

    The other things we've got on the list to look at getting are these bits;
    And I've just realised how much I've rambled on so I'll stop now & let someone else get a word in edgeways :p Thankyou for reading if you've made it this far :rotfl:
  • I'm having a baby tomorrow... if there's a bed available for me.

    I'm 7% excited and 93% terrified :(
