That's really reassuring to hear Morocha, luckily we already have the grandparents fighting over babysitting duties so we should still be able to have date nights every so often.
Our baby was planned so hopefully it will just strengthen our relationship more.0 -
Wow its quiet on here today! I'm 9 days overdue today. Still here! It should be illegal to be this pregnant!
Felt a bit annoyed last night. About 18 months ago I bought OH two tickets for a Michael McIntyre comedy gig at Sheffield Arena for his birthday. The show was on last night, so I told him to take his best friend with him, as I didn't want to risk travelling in the cars for a couple of hours when I'm so overdue. OH and best friend caught the train instead. When the show ended, OH called me to say he was on his way home and I asked if he enjoyed it. He had but his friend was in the background saying 'It wasn't even funny. It was !!!!!" I just found that so rude and grateful, when I'm just given him a £40 free ticket for a comedy gig. Some people really !!!! me off! :cool:0 -
hi ladies how are you?
weird after my comment last night, ithought about what marta and everyone had said and i got a bit scared too. as it is our busy working lives doesnt enable us to spend time together properly (dh calls watching tv with me spending time together) and i feel after bubba it might get worse. i try and always suggest we go out for dinner etc and sometimes we did do that but it went out of the window as dh does kung fu which i did with him but stopped now. i think we will have to make that effort as our other friends also tell us to do that and make the most of couple time now.. thing is with, he worries more about going out for drinks with his stupid mates etc so i wish he was worried about spending time with me. who knows he might change when the bubba comes and realises he isnt actually going to see me. he makes his life so busy he tires himself out. sigh... at the mo, because i have the long pillow in the way, i miss cuddles with him.i do hope things change and i will try my best to tell him but its also up to him right?
am so shattered today. when dh went for kung fu, i had a nice hair wash and then packed a bit of the baby bag. oh i realise the bag i am taking to the hospital with baby's stuff will be the same one for the buggy. that should be ok no? i dont need a separate one or anything. not thinking now..:( then tried to do the bathroom and just got so tired. my back hurts now also and i am tired. i still have that side pain but not as bad as yest. shall i leave it and not bother bugging the labour ward? lol
sorry long post.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Sounds like the right size for you Rups - I'm 5ft 5 and would have the 55cm one too.
Ladies I thought I'd share some tips now I've been a mother for just over 2 weeks about some of the pads that I've used.
Firstly, breast pads:
Sainsbury's own = brought me out in a rash
Tommee Tippee = were my preferred pad until price rises meant I tried the Lansinoh ones. Downside of these pads though is that if you aren't using a padded (formed cups) nursing bra, they crease and show through the bra.
Lansinoh = really soft (particularly so on sensitive nipples if breastfeeding or expressing, and prevent the Lansinoh nipple cream staining your bras), much thinner than the Tommee Tippee ones, and they seem to be more fitted to a natural breast shape. I've not tried them in my non-padded nursing bra yet, so can't comment on whether they show through yet, but these are definitely my favourites. Not sure if they're still on offer on Amazon, but I'd recommend them if they are (I got them on offer in Waitrose but not sure if the offer is on any more).
Maternity pads (make sure you buy more than 2 packs like I did, particularly if you intend to pump or breastfeed as this can increase your lochia/blood loss after birth - I've gone through quite a few packs and Jonathan is only 17 days old today):
Boots own (£1.05 per pack) = These were the ones I bought the most of after hearing that they are the softest and most absorbent from people on the newborn thread. I bought these when they had 3for2 on Boots baby products, but only bought 2 packs. These are more expensive than some of the pads, but when on offer, these are my favourites.
Tescos own (98p / pack) = These pads are ok, although they don't seem to be as absorbent as the Boots pads - the mucus/blood seems to sit on the top of the pad rather than soak in somewhat, which aggravated my stitches.
Sainsbury's own (99p / pack) = These are cheaper than the Boots ones, but I would say they were just as good in terms of comfort and absorbency. I would say these are my favourites if the Boots ones aren't on offer.
For healing after birth (whether c-section or vaginal delivery or assisted delivery - I had forceps so had an episiotomy), the Cussons Mum & Me Arnica Bath Soak was really soothing, and being perfume-free, didn't irritate. It healed my stitches, swelling and bruising so quickly (trust me it was very swollen and black down there when I checked after a few day) - when the midwife checked the stitches after a week, she said it looked as though I'd never had a baby down there! I decanted some of this into a travel bottle to use at the hospital and they used it to give me a bed bath after the birth too.
Hope this info helps some of you in deciding what to pack in your hospital bag etc.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -
No rups you don't need a separate changing bag and babies bag for hospital. Babies hospital bag will already have all all the nappies etc in.
I thought you had seen the doctor/midwife about the side pain earlier on in your pregnancy and they had told you it's normal and nothing to worry about? You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

thanks sexymouse for those tips
very handy. i was just looking at my hosp bag list on excel and ticking off stuff. need a few things that might be added last minute like the notes, camera etc,.:) i have the cussons mum and me cream. its lovely and thick. also got the bath one as a bday present, so will def use that after
ikkle i did ages ago at around 6 weeks preg and the doc had said it seems normal but to always keep an eye on it, as it could be something else like appendix or something else as preg women are prone to getting that too. so i was just wondering whether to ring them. i can feel bubba moving so i should be ok no?
confused about this birthing ball. my back is sore and at nct they said that will help a lot just sitting on the ball rather than a couch.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

The birthing ball will help to strengthen your core muscles Rups and stops you from slouching which is easy to do on a sofa. It also relieves some of the pressure on your pelvis. Personally it wasn't very good for me once I was in labour, as sitting down on anything seemed to intensify my contractions, but some ladies swear by them for relieving the pain of their contractions, so I'd say it's worth getting unless you know someone you can borrow one from (I borrowed my Mum's).Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Does anyone have any experience of what Superdrug is like for hospital-bag related things? I have £100 Superdrug Beautycard points to spend that I won but want to put them to good use! Unfortunately they can't be used on formula, otherwise I'd stock up on that!2019 Wins
