I have a washing dryer machine, all in one, it is brilliant. One of the settings is "wardrobe" setting, things get out completely dry, I usually use it only for towels and mats. Other setting is "iron setting", where it comes just slightly damp, I hang it indoors for a few hours and ready to put in the wardrobe. It has two other settings, but I do not much use them. I never have to put to dry clothes outside because they never drip any water, and they are usually dry within a day maximum if on the "iron setting". I bought it last year from Currys at about £400, you do not need to use the washing and the dryer always, you can just select the washing cycle, or just the dryer, or both to start one after another. I always programme it to start at night (and close the doors!) so when I wake up the washing is ready. I have a small dishwasher, a slim one, half the size, I also programme it to start at night to save energy (I have economy 7), it usually gets all the dishes and pans for a whole day, but if not I might have to only hand wash a couple of pans. It costed us around £250 because we needed an integrated one, but you can find them half the price if you can have a standalone one. Swap that old freezer of your hubby for a dishwasher and swap your current washing machine for a washing dryer, I highly recommend both. They are time savers!!!

thanks marta. i have been looking for some. i found one that is small and fits on our worktop as we dont have the space. my MIL has a dryer but she wont give it to us :( i asked dh to ask and then he said wont the bills be high? and i said not unless we use it just for specific things, esp bubba's clothes. i sent him two links. hopefully he will agree. i know i would love to throw that freezer out and put a dryer in there. we already have a washing machine so if MIL gave us her dryer, it would be ideal. work in progress.

cant beleive i am still up even though have been tired from 9pm. must go to bed now.:) got loads to do tomorrow again. esp the rest of the bathroom. meh.. good night ladies. xx

ikkle i did ages ago at around 6 weeks preg and the doc had said it seems normal but to always keep an eye on it, as it could be something else like appendix or something else as preg women are prone to getting that too. so i was just wondering whether to ring them. i can feel bubba moving so i should be ok no?

confused about this birthing ball. my back is sore and at nct they said that will help a lot just sitting on the ball rather than a couch.

I thought you had been after that as well as you had moved onto this thread and were confused about who to ring etc? Anyhow, I doubt its your appendix - the amount of time you've had that pain if it was appendicitis your appendix would probably have burst by now :) lol. It's probably just everything stretching and growing as now is the time baby starts putting weight on.

That is lovely . I'm not buying a changing bag this time round though as I prefer just to use a big handbag with a travel change mat in.

I'm the first one up here as I just can't lie in at the moment- so annoying as I will be tired later.

Must get on and pack hospital bags now I am past 32 weeks, and should also crack on with the Raspberry Leaf Tea. Only one more week at work for me- yippee :rotfl:.

  • well bags are all packed, moses basket all made up and ready, bubs clothes all washed dried and away, i'm at the hospital tomorrow for my pre-op and bloods, gonna do a big shop on tuesday morning, then hopefully just chill for the rest of the day ready for the little man to arrive on wednesday!!!
still trying to sort out a sitter for my youngest on the day, and if push comes to shove OH will stay at home with her and i'll go in alone, which i'm not bothered too much about, but i am !!!!!! that people who i thought would of offered help, havent.
if this was my 1st baby i'd be more nervous of being on my own, but it's number 4 and i know the score but even so, i would like OH to be there, not just for me, but cos he's finally wanting to see one of his children being born and as it stands, it's not going to happen. (the other times he's been outside in the halls waiting cos he 'doesnt do blood and woman stuff' :) my mother, who has been there for the birth of my other 3 isnt well and even if she begged and pleaded to be let in theatre, i doubt they'd let her.
i have plenty of friends who have said they'd come in with me, but none who have offered to watch little legs so my OH can come instead, and to be honest, i wouldnt want anyone but him, or my mother in with me anyway........
oh why isnt anything easy and simple....
anyway, alone or not, he's coming on wednesday and i cannot wait, it is strange knowing exactly when he'll be here and not dreading going overdue again, waiting for the slightest twinge or pain. I'll be glad when this pregnancy is over, its been my worst, i am so uncomfortable and in so much pain its been a miserable past few months and i've not been the nicest person to of been around but theres light at the end of the tunnel. 3 days and counting :)

 Is there any reason why we should not have a small suitcase as maternity bag? Just wondering, because I think I am the only one who is taking a small suitcase, and I do not know if I am missing out an important point, like "bags should be soft" or "no wheeled suitcases are allowed in hospital". I have the Boots free changing bag+mat, and I think that will be enough for me later on, so I did not want to buy an extra one. I could use a big bag, but I only have one big sized bag, and I use it everyday. Other than that, I have lots of shopping totes, but they are open on the top and not that big anyway. Could I use my cabin suitcase as maternity bag?

I am heading to Boots online to buy the rest of the stuff I need for the bag, thank you sexymouse for the brand recommendations! I have taken note of them.

*Twinkle*, could you just suggest to any of those friends who offered to be with you at birth that you would very much appreciate it if the stayed instead with your other little one?

you'd think it'd be that easy eh? one friend offered to take a day off work to come in with me, yet when i said about watching little legs instead she said she probably couldnt get it off just so she could babysit
i am actually resigned now to going in on my own, i havent got the time or energy to go round begging.

Marta I think it depends on the hospital. When I had my son you were only allowed soft bags as it was very cramped and there was no room for anything, plus you had to sit your bag on your lap in the wheelchair when they moved you around. When I just had Eliza it was totally different. I had four separate bags, and you were allowed to take anything as long as it fitted in a shopping trolley. They actually used co op trolleys to move belongings between delivery suite and the ward.

Hi Marta. I took a 'cabin' wheeled suitcase when I had both of my other babies and I am sure I will do again this time. Everything for me and baby was in one place. This made it easier when we were moved around and nothing got lost. I did put baby's first outfit in a carrier bag inside my suitcase. This meant it was easy for OH to get out the vest, sleepsuit, hat and a nappy without disturbing my well packed case!

Once you've had your baby, the nappies, wipes etc can be stored under the baby cot and you can keep other things in your bedside locker.

I found a suitcase fitted well under the bed and it made for a much easier trip back to the car on the way home (I pulled the suitcase and OH carried baby in the car seat)

When I had my second baby, it was a planned section. I knew I would need more clothes etc than a suitcase full, so I left a carrier bag at home with stuff for OH to bring in when needed ... I gave him the dirty stuff to take home to wash :)
