At my work it depends on how you plan to return - if you come back part time at 6 months everything shifts to be pro-rated for your new hours, so I would accrue holiday normally for the first 6 months, and then at part time rate for the remainder of my maternity.
If you ask to see your company's ML policy it should be clearly spelled out how they calculate your entitlement etc.

I'm the only employee and have been with the company pretty much from the start. I don't wanna take the mick and force the issue and have all my regular holidays. But if I'm entitled to them by law then obv. I'm gonna have them. I'd presume seems as my maternity pay is worked out on what my hours are now, then I'd earn holidays at the normal rate thoughout ML and then at my new part-time rate from the end of ML (I think that's basically what you just said lol). But would that mean the "days" I would usually get off become hours? Meaning that I'd end up having more actual days off...

This is all very confusing! The more I talk to people the more confused I get!!!
  • bamama I accrued on full time basis last time, I.e at my firm 20 days and 8 bank hols. When I came back to work I did three days a week so these gave me an additional 9 weeks off being paid at my new part time rate as only had to use three days a week! Definitely good as wanted longer off!

    grr stupid women at work...

i think i am happier working from home you know?

just 5 min ago, a woman on my floor came to ask me when i am due, and said gosh you are so big, you got two? and then iwent to the loo and the woman who shouts at me 'preggers' shouted that and then asked what happened to my stomach and i said why? she replied because its huge.. i cant win..sigh

Oh Rups, I completely missed that :( some people can be so rude. Try and take them with a pinch of salt! My boss jokes about my bump, chanting "bellies gonna get ya" and she told me earlier that I'm going to explode... all because I was eating crisps an hour or so after having a chip butty for my lunch. I've come to the conclusion that she's jealous because I'm small and she wishes she was :D.

Edit : Just saw babymonsters post - I'll be going back 5 days at 4hrs a day. So would I have my 28*usual 8hrs = 224 hours (56 part-time days)? Sounds like that would be really lucky of me cause that's 11 weeks!

i will be 24 wks on friday and do not get the cmments of being huge quite the opposite, i get the comments that i am so small, they look more pregnant than me. Even my lovely MIL has said that my baby kicks a lot because she thinks there is no enough room in there for her... i know, i am being silly but it upset me.
Today as i was walking to pick DD up a young lad was staring at me, and tried to make conv with me ( he is one of the guys building a house near mine ), i felt so unconfortable like he should know i am pregnant and dont need this lol.

Lol morocha, you do not need any help then :D But if anyone else does, the offer applies to anyone! I am not good at French unfortunately, I forgot it all!! When I started to have a bump I bought maternity clothes that made it obvious, like maternity dresses or long tops with a belt below my chest. That way people usually got the message that I was pregnant, not just putting weight! Lol

i think i might get those tops !
lol Marta, thanks for offering to help, i know is silly but i need the uk qualification so it is all good to have one thing less to think about, french will be difficult enough with a baby brain and demanding toddler, then when baby comes i will not have much time if she is anything like DD.

  • Just popping in to say baby girl was born 6th Oct - will keep the name a secret if that's OK. Got out of hospital yesterday due to having infection and all is well now.

Not sure if/how often I will get to pop back on here so thanks to all for all the support and good luck to those with babies arriving over the next few months.

    Hi money penny.

    http://http://www.boots.com/en/Rochingham-Stars-Moon-Kumfy-Spring-Mattress-140x70x10cm_53187/

This is the mattress we have for our cot bed, I know loads of people who have it and it is fab. It's sprung which is recommended I had a lay down on it when it arrived and it's really comfy.

Good reviews too. I know a lot of boots are doing Xmas events soon too where you get £12 worth of advantage card points back when you spend £50, and you get your parenting points on top of that. X
