Afternoon all. The forum just ate my last post! Sigh.

Anyhoo - Cherrydrop - glad they've caught it now and can keep an eye on it. Shame on the doctor for not picking up on it sooner. Colour of urine is one thing my midwife always comments on! You have my sympathies on the itchin. it can drive you bonkers. i didn't have OC but I did develop Polymorphic Eruption of Pregnancy. This usually starts in the 3rd trimester and goes away within a week of the baby being born. However, in my case it didn't (typical me!). Mine started at 5 days before the baby was born and lasted for weeks afterwards. it drove me nuts. The rash spread through every stretchmark I had. i was scratching so much I was doing it in my sleep. DH caught me doing that a few times. The community midwife kept me under their watchful eye for way longer than the baby was as they were concerned. I was blood tested to make sure my liver was ok etc. Creams etc didn't work and it took anti-histamines and some sort of steroid thingy to get rid of it but it was miserable! Never ignore any sort of itching or rash. Better to feel slightly silly with a doctor/midwife than to suffer unnecessarily. Like Fluff, it was one of those things I was warned about. Obviously different midwives encouter different situations in their areas!

Re the liquid intake, I have no idea how much i take but I know that I went off everything including tea, diluting juice, fizzy juice, etc and can only stomach plain water (and a bit of orange juice in the morning to wash down the iron tablet!). Rups - I am also running to the bathroom a lot but that is likely the amount of water I'm drinking and the fact that the baby uses my bladder as a punchbag! Might I recommend pelvic floor exercises. Very important!

That nursery pic is very pretty. I wanted white but the doors and skirtings were pine so we just went for that. Must admit I do still really like ours (thankfully!).

Yeah, sometimes dark urine is a sign of dehydration but I wasn't dehydrated, GP didn't pick up on it though.

Flump's room is a mess too. My bag isn't even packed yet, just don't have the energy. His cot is up and his changing unit, most of his clothes are away and all his nappies, wipes etc are put away. We just keep buying stuff and chucking it in the room and conveniently forgetting. Might have to draft mum in to help with it haha,
  • Hi ladies, hope everyone is well. Ive not been on as much as I'd like. Internet/laptop playing up and Im still full of lurgy:(

Congrats to Shery, sorry it didnt go as planned but glad you are both well. Congrats also to punkpink

2b - congrats on finding out its a girl :T and zcrat a boy :T

Had my flu jab and whooping cough injection yesterday. No nasty side effects apart from a sore arm!

Bikeless - love the name Sophia, have you decided on a middle name yet? I love Gillys suggestion. Sophia Grace has a lovely ring to it.

Whoever was asking about witch hazel, I got 2 bottles from Savers the other day. Cant remember how much they were though, think about £1.50 each but cant be sure

Littlemoog, hows the pressure today? Ive been having that recently, along with period type cramps and was wondering if things were progressing

Cherrydrop, glad they found out what was causing the itching and at least they are keeping an eye on you now

MLB, sorry you had a scare but glad babys ok. Hope you are taking things easy

AFM, Im going for a little sleep now :rotfl:. Everything I do exhausts me and my bump is so heavy now I struggle to do the slightest thing!

The pressure has eased off a little, but I'm getting lots of twangy pains in my cervix and pelvis - the baby had hiccups earlier, and I got the pain every time so I'm wondering if they've engaged a bit more. My weekly email from babycentre said "your baby is moving a lot less now as they're running out of room". I wish someone would tell my baby that, as if anything they're moving more!

I haven't got any cramps though, could be a sign of things getting started for you maybe? Has your midwife said anything about twins coming earlier naturally?

Thanks Nephthys- DH keeps catching me scratching in my sleep too! grabs my hands but sends me round the bend because I HAVE to scratch it. Consultant put me on piriton but it did nothing, just conked me out but couldnt sleep for scratching turning me into a zombie for about 3 days.

Does anyone find even just walking round the supermarket is hard work? I get halfway down an aisle and it's literally like having a bowling ball between your legs. I have to stand still for 5 minutes in case he falls out :D I get some right funny looks! You can't run to the toilet cos you'll wet yourself and you can't keep moving cos you'll wet yourself. I find just standing kind of helps the situation, what fun it will be trying to get up to the labour ward!

I asked the sister on the ward about baby moving a bit less cos he's getting bigger and she said that was a load of rubbish, they should move the same all the time!!?? Had a bit of a to and fro about it because surely they cant be somersaulting and twisting round like they do at 20-26 weeks? Finally agreed that yes, he would move a little less because, no, he can't do rolly poleys in my tummy anymore, ;) but his movements would feel a bit lazier which I agreed with, theyre more of a slow stretch now but it's like he's escaping from my womb through my tummy, I see a little leg or a bum pushing right up, makes me criiinge.

My DS was kicking as I was pushing him out!! no one told him he was supposed to move less!!

Cherrydrop - what about Benadryl? It is allegedly safe to take in the latter stages (so i was told by the doctor although in fairness I wasn't prescribed it til after he was born) and ok for breast feeding as so little would make it through to your milk. It was one of a number of things I was tried on and the one that helped cut the itching down. I do know what you mean - there is that point mid scratch where you feel the relief and then the burning pain starts and seconds later the itch is back. Apparently PEP is milder if you get it the next time - fingers crossed!!

Hang on - I'm only 24 weeks and I feel like I could wet myself at any time. Thanks baby - it's not a trampoline, punch bag or other fun toy - LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!

Getting up from assessment to delivery suite?? Wheelchair!!!!
  • cheerydrop so glad you got it sorted! I'm another one wit useless midwives, the first four all told me everything normal and straightforward, the next one said that as I had a big baby last time I have to have a glucose test, see a consultant and have growth scans! Slight contradiction there! She then thought I was annoyed with her, er no, just with the other useless midwives
