  • I think so, Savage. I only have a couple of weeks left anyway, i'm hoping by some miracle it will disappear and my little Flumpus will make his own way into the world but they seemed pretty adamant I will be induced. He had really good readings on his trace today though, right little show off, he is, so it looks like he's happy in there which can't be a bad thing. The sisters on the unit are really reassuring and helpful though, I wish I could have the rest of my appointments with them but have to see my midwife next week, have a few things i've got ready to say to her, that's for sure,

Marta, it's 8 glasses (250ml each) of any fluid - although caffeine is a diuretic, it's not enough of one to make you lose more fluid than you're taking in with the coffee/tea. I keep a bottle of sugar free squash on my desk, and have a glass every hour or so, plus tea twice a day. I'm a thirsty person generally though, in early pregnancy I was probably drinking 3 litres a day, and waking up during the night to drink a pint of squash!

Re: obstetric cholestasis - it's on the things to look out for page in my pregnancy notes, but my midwife has never mentioned it to me either. I knew about it from reading online anyway. I have very itchy skin normally anyway, but am keeping an eye out for itchy hands and feet etc.

savage, littlemoog, I drink decaff, tea or coffee but decaff, I even have decaff green tea around. If I am very tired and in need of a kick start, I might have one single mug of normal tea or coffee, but no more. Where did you find the raspberry leaf tea? I went to Morr two days ago and I could not find any, all the teas with raspberry only had flavourings or pulp.

fluff, no idea, but I was never told about it either. I was also told to call a number or go to hospital in the event of bleeding, but nothing else really. I have seen like 6 different midwifes, I have only seen my "normal one" twice and very little was explained to me on my booking appointment, I was given a few leaflets but there was a lot of info to take in, I cannot remember anything like that. In fact, I am a little disappointed with the whole thing, I went to my hospital appointment one week after seeing the midwife (she said urine sample was ok), I gave another urine sample at hospital and they were not happy with it and sent it to the lab. When I went to the midwife again, two weeks after the hospital, I mentioned this to her, but she said she had not received any letters so "no news, good news" and she said my urine sample that day was ok. However, that same day I received the letter from hospital saying I needed to have antibiotics because of an urine infection. I had complained to the midwives about dark and funny smelling wee for months, every time they said it was ok, just to drink more water. I am very confused.

Cherrydrop - hope everything goes ok. I never got round to writing my birth story, but I was induced. It honestly isn't that bad, and having the propess inserted isn't painful. Due to my heart I'm meant to have intervention - epidural once 2cm dilated, plus cannulated for antibiotics - yet I ended up with none of it. My labour was so quick that they were unable to do anything and I had to have a natural birth. Personally I hated it, and was in a total state as I just couldn't take the pain. But if you are hoping for a more natural birth don't assume that is impossible with an induction.

I bought the Clipper raspberry leaf tea in Tesco. I think you can get it in Holland & Barrett etc as well.

  • Rups- That nursery is lovely! it's quite versatile for boy/girl too. Dark urine and light coloured poo is something they look for in OC too. My sample was really dark even though i'd drunk about 3 huge bottles of Evian already that day and it was only 1pm.

KatyLiz- thank you for that. I'm generally really scared about labour anyway, nobody believes me when I say that's my biggest fear in life, and just the thought of things not going naturally really worries me. I'm coming round to thinking though that they wouldn't do it if it wasn't helping Flump though and there's no other way he's gonna get here so i'm gonna have to like it or lump it whatever happens!
