Sitting waiting for the midwife, she's late again

For some reason I'm starting to feel really on edge, like a cross between scared and panicked. Started at one point when I woke in the night, and now I can't seem to relax.

Hope everyone else is good?

Big congratulations Bikeless! Hope you're enjoying mummy cuddles. can't believe I'm nearly in the teens on the list, I stayed in the 70s for ages when I first joined and now everytime I look I seem to have moved up a few places, eep! :eek:

Snowbean, hope the mw turns up soon. Feeling unsettled can be a sign of early labour apparently, so fingers crossed!

As for me, still coldy/sore throat etc, but today's my day off, so had a long soak in the bath and just going to head to shops for last few bits for labour bag, snacks etc. DH is off out tonight to our local beer festival, so will pick up something nice for my tea and maybe a DVD to watch later to console myself as I love real ales

Haha, me too Scottishchick... if only we could just choose when to give birth, that would be so much more convenient

So, eventually saw midwife. I don't know why they keep insisting on giving people 15min slots for half hour appointments, and then being all surprised when they're running late??! Anyway, my blood pressure is up again from last time, which she said could be a sign of things starting, told her about tummy ache / upset tummy, which she said could be a sign...felt like saying it seems like everything 'could be a sign' if you want to see it that way :cool: Asked about if she would would do a sweep, and she said if I wanted to, so went ahead with that. Didn't really find it too uncomfortable. She scored me a 6/10, which apparently is a good sign and said she could feel baby's head. Poor thing jumped at the end, as if to say 'oi, what you doing poking me in the head?'

Littlemoog, sorry to see you're still feeling poorly. Hopefully having a day off will give you some time to rest and recover. I hadn't heard that about feeling unsettled? Hope it's true, cos I can't deal with feeling uneasy for another 2 weeks!

Our NCT teacher said it was common to feel weird/unsettled on the day or for a few days before. Hope the sweep works for you, sounds promising!

Just popping on to say Maisie was born on her due date weighing 7lb 10, wasn't the water birth I wanted, waters broke at quarter to midnight after a day of contractions showing baby was in distress, went straight to hospital strapped up to monitors so couldnt even walk around laboured all day until 5pm that night on just gas and air, reached 9cm dilated but just couldn't get any further, whisked off for emergency c section, which had been my worst nightmare and Maisie was born at 5.23 completely the opposite to what i had prepared for! now waiting to get discharged from hospital, will post birth story when I get home but I'm afraid it won't make for great reading. So glad she's here now though and I would do it all a million times again :-) hope your all ok x
