Someone wanted a slow cooker?0 -
Well I'm back from the midwife appointment, and good news is that bump measured 39cm - not 40cm (puts Bean back in his normal growth line on the graph), and he's also gone back to being 3/5ths palpable (she said that the fact that the baby's head is now in my pelvis will have made a difference to the measurement last appointment). She also said my tummy muscles are very tight and that she'd have to recommend aquanatal classes more often as they are obviously very effective. I told her all about the one I go to, so hopefully she'll recommend that one to people.
Have to see the midwife again next Monday (40+8) if Bean hasn't arrived, and she said she would strongly advise a sweep so I've had to book a double appointment. Don't really want one, and I'm hoping that it doesn't get to that stage, but I suppose if it brings on spontaneous labour, I'd rather have that than be induced (really don't like the idea of someone having their hand up my bits and rummaging around though, especially as it can be painful during and afterwards).
The latest they let you go here is 40+14 (42 weeks) before induction, and I did tell her that I'd like to go as long as possible as long as baby and I are ok before considering induction. I told her about the due date being 4 days out according to my calculations, the fact that I want the labour to come on naturally rather than being brought on artificially as I know that induction tends to lead to more intervention as the body doesn't have time to build up to the intensity of the contractions etc and that I'd been reading the NICE guidelines and doing research online into articles from the BMJ (British Medical Journal) to help me make my decisions. She still seems to be very keen on induction though! She gave me a leaflet published by my health trust to give me more information on the induction process, so I've just read that through as well. To be honest, it didn't tell me any more than I knew already from discussions on induction at our antenatal classes, but at least now I know what the procedures are that are specific to my hospital.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -

Well that's definitely quite a few of us not getting any sleep then! I suppose I should make the most of being on maternity leave and sleep during the day which I've never done before!
I've bought some Downton Abbey boxsets so might have to have them ready to watch during the night seems silly to lay in bed for 9 hours staring at the wall.
Can't believe I'm no. 13 on the list, we all seem to want these babies to hurry up and arrive, I'm suprised at how excited rather than scared I am. Not long now! :jTeam pink due 5th Oct '12 :T0 -
Just nipping in quickly - has anyone given any thought to birth announcement cards? I was quite surprised how expensive they could work out to be. I went to our local printers today and if we provide the design, we're looking at about £40 for 25 cards. Online seems cheaper but only marginally. Has anyone found anywhere that's good value?0

We're just intending to send out an email to all of our friends who are online moneypuddle (this applies to most people we know), and MIL will get a print-out of the email posted through her door. We're not going to do anything fancy.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

I hadn't considered it at all Moneypuddle, until last week my mum gave me a couple of packs of cards which she'd got whilst they were away on holiday as she'd seen them at a bargain and thought they might be handy to send to some of our family / friends who don't have computers etc. They are just a generic card where you fill in name and weight etc yourself. Maybe something like that would be cheaper? (Although I have to say it does seem a lovely idea to have your own design and have them printed specially)0
-
I think we definitely want to go ahead with sending cards out, particularly to OH's family that we don't ever see, but was surprised by the cost!0
-
Yeah snowbean - I really like the idea of these ones: http://www.optimalprint.co.uk/birth-announcements/baby-boy
I suppose you only get to announce your baby's birth once, so it makes sense to do something nice0 -
This may be pregnancy brain, but I have a feeling that I may have seen some birth announcement cards in Poundland recently. It may be worth looking in there, or it may be worth making the cards yourself. Also, try googling photocards rather than birth announcement cards as places like Tesco and Boots do photocards and you can personalise them yourself rather than using templates.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
