That's a pity. Does your hospital do any antenatal classes? I'm booked into two sessions with mine as well as the NCT classes, one is an all in one session all morning, the other is just a breastfeeding one (and only for women). Not gone yet so can't comment on usefulnessLittleMoog you should be able to get a booklet from midwife/health visitor that helps with the breastfeeding hun and different holds x
Thanks guys. We decided not to book the hospital antenatal classes as my MW said they were really oversubscribed so we left the place for someone else as we'd paid for NCT. after my extensive early morning googling, I found plenty of help online, including this useful page from la Leche League which covers laidback feeding and the more normal holds, so will print it out to ha ve at home http://www.lalecheleague.org/faq/positioning.html
It's mostly annoying as I was so upset about it, but I was VERY tired on Thursday so I might have overreacted.apparently our local midwife BF team is great, and there are drop ins every day, so post-natal support won't be an issue. I also really like the idea of the laid-back feeding, but the BF lady just didn't really explain it very well. Have fed back to the course leader so this will hopefully be corrected for the next group.

Nothing, I didn't sleep Saturday night as was in pain with my tummy and back but it was constant so doubt that was anything really. I've been sat telling him it's Mia's birthday today (my cousin) and she really wants a new cousin as a birthday present so can he hurry up please.
My OH is taking my auntie and cousins to Manchester airport on Friday morning so it would be sod's law that my waters go whilst he's on his way there lol or, because I'm so desperate for my auntie to meet baby before they go back to Australia I will probably start labouring just after they've taken off.
Either way no more than 23 days to go lol....
Surely there's no way they'd let you go the whole 23 days!?
Hopefully he'll pay attention to you and pop out just before midnight so that they can share a birthdayCross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -

Lol Rups for once your choice of food hasn't made me at all hungry!
LittleMoog - I don't think you overreacted at all, at least by giving feedback they can see where they need to improve.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -

They haven't said hun and I don't want to get my hopes set on another time scale again only for them to whip it away from me. The only date I have is 3rd of October for a stretch and sweep. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I think maybe getting up at 3 in the morning to watch videos of people breastfeeding for a baby that's not due for 8 weeks might be overreacting a teensy bit! It could have waited til the weekend :rotfl:Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

Hi LittleMoog. I BF DD until 7.5 months, but not without the usual problems. My friend is now BF her 10 day old and asked for help and a few things came flooding back to me that seemed to help her and none of the midwives have told her:
To get a good position for feeding, a breast feeding pillow really helps. In the hospital ask if you can borrow one or bring your own (they don't usually offer, but my hospital had them).
BF is "feeding on demand". My friend was trying to feed her baby every 4 hrs and no one thought to tell her that just doesn't usually work with BF (at least in the first month).
BF babies often "cluster feed" in the evening. My DD would feed constantly from 7pm until 10/11 pm. Just go with it. Get comfortable on the sofa (with your BF pillow!) and watch TV. It often means baby will do a longer stretch at night.
Get a nipple shield for the times that your nips just can't face another feed, but try not to use all the time as baby might reject the nipple without it.
For the first 24 hrs a newborn only needs 7ml (just over a teaspoon) of colostrum. In the next 24 hours they need just 14ml. So don't stress that they aren't getting enough. See this link.0
