  • I've finally managed to get logged on using my phone which means I can post again! Congratulations to everyone who has had their new arrivals since I've posted & fingers crossed for everyone expecting them any day now :)

Not sure if I mentioned / asked about this in my previous posts but does anyone else here have an anterior placenta? Apparently it's clear of OS which I'm guessing is either my cervix or the site for a c-section so I'm guessing that's a good thing. How does it affect the rest of your pregnancy? I've not seen my midwife since my scan (next appt is 18th Oct & I'll be 25+2) & no one has said much about it tbh so I'm just curious what it means & how I might find things different :)

On the matter of maternity coats, ASOS might be a good place to look, especially today as there are a few maternity bits with 20% off :) It might be worth going a size up though as I have found some of their clothing to be cut on the smaller side :)

Oh well, I'd best get back to doing some work. I get the feeling I'm going to have a munchie day today. I've had a banana crunch corner for my breakfast & I'm sat at my desk with a bottle of fizzy, orange lucozade (enjoying this quite a bit at the moment but limiting myself to 1 bottle / day at most & it has to be cold & fizzy otherwise I'm not interested!) & thinking about the mini roll & apple I have in my bag as well as thinking about what I'm going to have for my lunch & my tea :)

It just means your placenta is on the front (eg your tummy) rather than posterior (on your back) so you might feel less movements at the front hun. Shouldn't have any impact on your pregnancy.

I have an anterior placenta (first one in five pregnancies) - I thought it would impact on the movements felt but it doesn't - I am more aware of this baby's movements than any of the others. It hasn't affected my pregnancy at all apart from making the midwife struggle to find the heartbeat.

My only concern is about actually physical impacts to my abdomen - my husband drives like a maniac and I am always telling him to take it steady just in case we have an accident (or when he's going over sleeping policemen as that's really uncomfortable). Similarly, I am alway telling the children not to launch themselves at me - I just think that the placenta has less protection than it would if it was posterior or fundal (at the top of the utuerus). It's probably absolutely fine and of no additional risk - I am just being paranoid as it took a while to get pregnant this time.

Apart from that, as far as I am concerned, having an anterior placenta is not a problem!

  • Thanks ikkle & olgadapolga :) it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one & it shouldn't have much impact on my pregnancy.

I'm feeling movements most days now, Bean has a very giddy spell about 10/11pm usually & I get a bit nervous if it doesn't happen but it's our first pregnancy & it took us about 16mths to conceive so it felt like an eternity (although I realise its far from one!) :) I'm excited to be able to feel the movements clearly from the outside so Mr B can enjoy it too but he gets the occasional one, Bean was teasing him last night & every time he moved his hand I got a definite kick :) I'm looking forward to my littlest sister to be able to feel it too because she's only 4 & I imagine the reaction is going to be quite a funny one! She also wasn't keen on our name of Bean but she's now decided that should be the proper name when Bean arrives :)

savage, sexymouse, cl... thank you for your replies. I spoke to my mum yesterday and she had a low placenta too, but her case was differente, she bled every single day, so she was told to rest and have no sex. I hope mine corrects itself in the next weeks.

I have an anterior placenta (first one in five pregnancies) - I thought it would impact on the movements felt but it doesn't
I also have one (or had - might have moved??) - I think it might be affecting baby movements but I think it depends. I can certainly feel kicks on parts of my bump but I think others are much more muted, so depends where baby is lying. I get most of my kicks upper right side of my bump, but can also feel 'internal' ones bottom left side, if that makes sense, but they are much softer and you can't see them from outside.
  • Is anyone whose at the end of the pregnancy actually getting any sleep at all? I have a mound of pillows to prop myself up with and support the bump / legs but still wake up every hour!

Thought things were starting last night, lost my plug, had abdominal pains for a few days and got much stronger braxton hicks every half hour last night but all stopped now, and to top it off I have toothache in 2 teeth but dentist won't do anything until I can have an x-ray after baby arrives as I may need root canal, boo. :-(

Sorry for the moan, I'm really exciting about the baby but would be nice if she made an appearance and little early as I'm not sure where I'll get the energy from for labour if I'm not sleeping.

Carrie I've not slept properly for months - was taking raspberry leaf tea that made me get awfully painful contractions during the night, but stopped that around 37 weeks to see if it made a difference - luckily it did, but I've gone back to getting the period pains again during the night (although nowhere near as strongly as they were on the RLT), and the only thing that relieves them is to get up and go for a wee, which obviously disrupts my sleep. Plus Moon has developed snoring recently too, so have to keep getting him to turn over. I'm trying where possible to have an hour's nap in the afternoons to catch up on some sleep then, but it's not always possible. Hopefully neither of us will have too much longer to wait. Hugs
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
