  • Moneypenny - we did the same. We got a Recaro Young Profi Plus and the isofix base for DH's car. The other improtant factor was that car seat also had to go in with a 3 point belt to go in my car. The base also does the next seat up - we have the Recaro Young Expert Plus which DS is in now. It can also go in the car with a three point belt. I wasn't bothered about the option for a travel system but it's a good point to consider. Everyone's circumstances are different.

Pram wise we got an Out N About Nipper 360. I love it. Folds up easy in one piece, three wheeler so does off road as well as pavements with ease. Feels as light as a feather. Corners like its on rails - to quote Pretty Woman! Lol!

Ironically the new version of this pram is travel system compatible with a maxi cosi cabriofix (or one of the other maxi cosi ones) and the new version of the pram is a bit heavier but has better features. such as an adjustable height handlebar, adapters to take the car seat, 90 degree angled valve on the wheels (a great addition according to DH!), etc. I so want the double version!

Don't panic/stress when looking. Just list what features you want and then start reading up. When you have a shortlist, check out the which website and then go and try them out. I wanted an iCandy Cherry but cost wise I couldn't justify it and then I was adamant I was getting a Maclaren Techno xlr - but it didn't fit in my car! Good job I didn't get either of them - at 10lb 10oz at birth DS wouldn't have been in the carrycot part for longer than a couple of weeks!

I can honestly say that thanks to all the info/advice on here and all the codes/bargains i got i stayed within budget and got what I needed and wanted. I did not get one single thing that I have not used with DS and I will be able to use with junior.

  • Hope you get sorted at the pharmacy Rups. I was essentially told by both pharmacist and doctor when I had a sinus infection - no using anything except paracetamol and honey and lemon linctus (if it had continued for longer then 3 weeks then they would have given me antibiotics but they wanted me to try and fight it off by myself). Lempsip, strepsils etc are all a no no. The one thing they also said to try if your throat was bad - gargle with warm salt water. I tried it - it was horrible but I think it helped in combination with the honey and lemon linctus.

  • Rups sorry you had a bad time with DH last night…it sounds like he is being very selfish and immature but its probably because he is scared sh!tless about being a dad!!! Everybody reacts differently so whilst my OH might be coping well, somebody else’s might be struggling but I’m sure once baby is here he will step up! I agree with Ikkle that you need to chill, you do sound a bit irrational sometimes and expect the poor bloke to guess how you feel…I don’t think you should hint at anything with him …he doesn’t sound like he understands hints …I think you need to calmly and positively say ‘Hi hun, been looking forward to you getting home all day because I missed you! Any chance you could make the tea as I’m not feeling too clever and then we can snuggle on the sofa afterwards…will be just what I need right now’ or something like that… at least then he say he doesn’t know!!! To be fair… I haven’t really stopped doing what I usually do like make the tea, do the housework etc … I’m pregnant not ill…however if I feel unwell and ask OH nicely (not demand) he is more than happy to do things for me.

Sorry to those feeling poorly; mlbarret

Bet it feels lovely to have reached your last day at work moneypuddle? I am really looking forward to it too as I’m starting to get tired… still 5 weeks to go for me though… lucky you with the stretch marks!!! I have hardly put on weight but am covered in them on my tummy but thankfully they are white not red or purple!!

Good luck at your 20 week scan Morocha & good luck for your theory test!

Welcome spudthedog – you are due 2 days before me…where in the world do you live?

Oh and Rups…why have you put 21 seconds back in my head??? I suppose it is better than my boss singing the same line over and over of ‘Saturday night at the movies’

Just home from town (had to get Moon a haircut so he doesn't look scruffy in any baby photos lol) after the midwife appointment.

It wasn't my usual midwife - she wasn't on holiday this time, but was in meetings all day apparently. Anyway, apart from this midwife giving me a hugely increased bump measurement (3cm in 2 weeks - I don't think so as it's clearly not following the steady growth he's had so far all pregnancy and puts him above the 90th centile), it's good news - baby is still head down. His head is no longer in the pelvis as I suspected, and his back is lying down my left side with feet and legs pointing to the right across my tummy, but apparently this is nothing to worry about at he could engage at any time, including as late as when I go into labour. BP etc all were fine. She told me to make an appointment for next week (41 week appointment), but when I got to the reception, they had no availability! Luckily there is a midwife clinic at my local surestart centre and they've been able to get me an appointment on Monday afternoon (as dd is Sunday, I suppose it doesn't matter that it's close to today's appointment) but Moon has to take time off work to go which is a pain (he has Friday's off).

Still hoping Bean arrives somewhere between Monday and Friday as this is when MIL is away. We're meant to be going to dinner at my M&D's on Monday evening if he hasn't made his appearance by then, so at least I won't have to cook. So any time from then on would be good Bean!

Hope all the other midwife appointments have gone well today.

savage that is very kind of you to offer to take the lists back - will probably post on here or facebook if I do go into labour, so you'll know then.

Feel better vibes to Rups and any other poorlies, hugs where wanted and labour vibes where appropriate.

  • Hope bean arrives for you while MILs away SM!

Good luck Morocha, and get well to the poorly ladies. The chemist should sort you out Rups

Bikeless, we've got pretty much everything we need, apart from 2 changing mats and footmuffs for the pushchair. Anything else is just bits we want rather than need.

Though we were told at our last multiples antenatal that we should buy some tiny nappies, not just newborn. Anyone know where I would get them from just in case? Dont recall seeing them at the supermarkets. TIA

  • Rups I am sure I had an email this am saying the babiesrus have 20% off car seats and prams. Yes, just checked and they have 20% off using a code online or in store for the next three days. Maybe worth going along to your local branch and having a look? OH and I went for the Mamas and Papas Zoom travel system as it has great reviews and a friend of ours who is on his third child said it is the best system he has ever used. Everyone is different though so you need to work out what you need/want from yours.

Sexymouse that's good news, you must be feeling a bit more relieved now? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Had my skiphop changing bag turn up today, along with a present from OH's grandparents (think it's cot bedding, waiting for OH to come home to open) and my delivery of soapnuts! I am most excited about the soapnuts - can't wait to try them out! LOL. Also keeping an eye on a very funky coat on ebay - I will have no chance of getting into it for at least another two-three months, but I really want it! Ladies, be warned, this is what happens when you are overdue and have got EVERYTHING ready! You shop!

Cake Pampers do micro newborn nappies (for 2-5lb babies) and from what I can see on mysupermarket, sainsbugs and tesco seem to stock them but they are cheapest in Boots at the moment.

Soapnuts are great MMM but I hate the smell of them - sort of a pickle smell. Don't worry though, the clothes don't end up smelling of them, but I've had to put mine out in the garage (where the washing machine is anyway) as the smell is strong to me.
