Congratulations jjbargaingirl on the birth of your daughter.

Congratulations to mororcha on passing your theory test and on joining team pink - your other daughter must be thrilled to be getting a sister.

savage I wish my midwife team had thought of that idea. I guess there must be a big baby boom around here, but you would have thought that if they only run one midwife clinic a week at my surgery that they would block out a couple of appointments for people who need them urgently (like emergency doctor appointments). Or that if they know your due date, that they book all of the standard appointments in when you book once you've had your 20 week scan.

I can't even get a pi55ing appointment. 38 weeks and will next be seen on my due date for a sweep.

Fluff - do you love this combo? We've got that car seat and the Uppababy Vista is currently on the short list! As it is £200 more expensive than the other 2 on the list I'm going to have to justify it to myself that its worth it! Does it fold down easily etc? I need to go and have a proper look at them all but from internet research its shaping up to be a favourite!

We've ordered the Vista, we went to the baby show in Birmingham in May, and compared to our other shortlist choices it was a clear winner (M&P Sola, Babystyle Oyster) in terms of height, design and sturdiness. It's not being delivered for another few weeks, but I saw it in John Lewis again today and I still really like it. We've got the maxi cosi Pebble and family fix base as well. If you want something a bit cheaper and more compact, they have a new compact travel system which is a bit cheaper, can't remember the name though!

Been shopping for my hospital bag stuff today, and also collected several deliveries - breastfeeding clothes and a birthing ball. Missed the delivery for my TENS machine so need t ogo to the post office for it tomorrow. Knackered now as it's been a very long day, and I slept really poorly last night. Early night for me I think, as we have NCT all day tomorrow :o Think I have everything I need for my bag now so will start packing it this week.

Thank you everyone for being so kind. My DD is thrilled she really wanted a sister.
Re Bottles... with DD i used MAM and tomme and i liked them both. I bought a couple of closer to nature bottles to be ready this time. I also have the Medela electric breast pump.

Re TRavel system... I have a quinny buzz 3 with the cabrio car seat, i think it's great, a good buy for me. Looking to get a carrycot, second hand one but v.good condition, i know they do not use it for long but can not take baby out for more than two hs in a car seat, and really dont want to, i don't think car seats are that comfortable.

  • I'm panicking a bit tonight. My OH is away for the weekend as is my sister, and my parents don't get back from their holiday until tomorrow afternoon so if I go into labour I'll be on my own with DD. still got 5 weeks to go so very unlikely but you never know.

I think my belly is growing tonight, it has been hurting the whole day, as if the muscles were being stretched or as if a balloon were being inflated inside! Does it stop growing at any point or does it keep growing until labour? I mean the bump, maybe it stops growing visually but baby keeps growing inside and the muscles are squashed more? It might be a very silly question... but I am wondering if I should buy more clothes, trousers and jeans do not fit and they are maternity type and a size over what I usually had!! I am more comfy with leggins or tights but not sure how that will work during winter!! Autumn started officially today!!! Very short wet summer :(

I would recommend to go and see the prams and have a go before deciding. I had a huge list of fancy travel systems and at the end I bought a much simpler, cheaper one because it suited my needs and lifestyle whilst still having the main things I wanted: light, fully foldable, neutral colours and easy to manouvre with a car seat. I was already in love with other models, which I do not doubt are much better and have many features and accessories... but in my case I decided that I just wanted a great travel system, I didn't really needed it, so instead I chose one that met my needs at a great price. Had I not gone to the shops and asked to try other models, I would have spent money I cannot afford. Now, if you can buy without looking at the price tag, or if family helps with the cost, it is slightly different. But I would recommend to have a look at all choices available and do not discard models or settle on any if you are on a budget. And it all depends also on your lifestyle, we live in a flat so space is a concern, I travel in public transport, so I will be using more a baby carrier or if not, I need a pram that can be folded easily or it is not too big, I do not plan to go shpping with it, so bag underneath was not an issue, I needed extendable handles for DH, who is 6.4" tall and I am very clumsy so I needed one that could be driven smoothly and allowed for quick movements to get out of the way. I have sacrified other stuff like front facing after I remove the car seat, but I will have a carrier anyway and I plan to make the toddler walk to tire her a bit! Lol. it does not have a carrycot, but I am not sure I will need it with the carrier anyway. Idk... I think if the money is tight, it might be better to have a go at any model before putting your heart in a specific one, just in case you find what you need at a reduced price. Mine is currently on offer at argos for £200, but I bought it in Boots at £60 on mega offer last in stock. My heart was settled on a iCandy of around £500... butI did not really need "need" that one... Thanks god my hubby is the sensible one when it comes to shopping, I always have my credit card ready!! But since I stopped working and getting a salary, I am suddenly very money conscious with all these baby stuff, I am not generally like that!!

I think it can keep growing hun, I've only just started to get one. Plus the last few weeks are when baby fattens up and puts weight on, I can lay in bed and he sticks his bum out and my belly goes a real funny shape x

  • marta - after a certain point they stop growing lengthwise and just fatten up, but i definitely think there is a lot more pressure on the bump from the little bum sticking out etc!

im actually in shock that its 22nd sept and im still pregnant. never thought for a second id still be here now, and ive tried everything to shift him. if i think too much i feel really down about it. people are really annoying me now too. my mum keeps ringing me (she knows how much its annoying me) and going 'oooooo any pains hahahahahahahahahahaha'. i feel like going 'argggghhhhhhh **** off!'. everyone else ive given up answering the phone to. my lovely husband bought me a new baking book yesterday to cheer me up so ill maybe do that today. sorry to be such a massive moaner, honestly feel like i want to cry:(
  • i dont have a car so i walk alot so i dont need a pram to fold down or be compact ect, my little girl will be 13 month old when bubs arrives, so i deffinately need a double with plent of room for them both to grow so i've (finally)got the iCandy peach blossom 2. i cant wait to start using it, my pain in the backside at the moment is finding a strong changing bag that can fit over the handles of the pram thats big enough for 2 lots of things but not too big and looks good, i want a yummy mummy bag but OH said not at that price and to be fair, i'm sure theres bags out there cheaper, i just havent found one yet :(
    Skint, but happy (ish):p
