We have decided to ask members of the family to be godparents, if I think about how many friends remained from 10 years ago... I get like zero to one, I do not want to risk it and have my future 10 year old daughter wondering why her godparents are never available for her birthday!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

marta yes a cotbed can also be used from birth. SMA (I called them about mine so this is how I know) - the place you send the form to is actually a central location where they send the forms out from once they have sorted them into areas. This process means that it take about a week to get to the right office. Then it takes them 2-3 weeks to process your claim and get it back to you. You're looking at approximately a month from when you send it to when you get your letter back saying if you're entitled to it. They send you a form that you have to send back on the birth of your baby so they can start making payments from then onwards. Obviously I'm not sure how long this part takes to happen as I've not had Bean yet, but I'm sure there may be someone who's had their baby who may be able to tell you about this part.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Oh, great sexymouse!! Thank you very much!! I think I will apply to have the payments before the birth, you can start receiving them from week 30 or so, although the total time will still be the same, you won't receive more, you just start receiving it earlier. Thank you again!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

my 'best friend' has a baby who was born valentines day this year, tbh I couldn't be any more distant from her now if I tried. She only contacts me when she wants something like a baby sitter or do I want to buy something from her for the baby as she needs money cos she's skint and then she goes out every weekend getting drunk. That and the fact she refers to Jakey as 'a little sh!thead' because she didn't want me to have a boy.
Unfortunately we won't be having Jakey christened, the one person I wanted to be godmother will be in Australia and we don't really have any males in the family or as friends who we would want to be godfather. OH has just been asked to be godfather to his cousins baby, and his cousin is a jehovahs witness so the whole sentiment confuses me entirely lol, but I don't want to ask someone just for the sake of it.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Cotbeds - I don't think there's much hope of reaching 7 in a cot bed. My son was too big to be comfy in his by the age of 2, and we had to give up completely and get him a big bed at 2 and a half. They do last longer than a cot, and can be quite good value, but I think even a small child would have outgrown it by 3 at the latest.
shery - I hope your BP comes down soon, that does sound high. Good luck at the GP tomorrow.
My best friend of over 20 years turned out to be a back stabbing liar who made things up about DH. Since then I haven't found it easy to make friends as I don't really trust them.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
A standard single bed is 190cm long and our cotbed is 140cm long, so don't know how it would be too small for a 7 year-old to be honest, but maybe I'm being naive about how tall they are at that age.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

No way either of my 2 would fit in our cotbed, eldest is 9 (but the shortest) and youngest is 7 - i would say up to 4-5 at the most and i dont grow tall babies
dizsie,
Im going to go against the rest and say I can see her point of view, its her birthday she isnt expecting and if for her a good night out for her birthday is going somewhere particular and getting trashed then surely thats up to her ? What if there are others in the group that cant go somewhere for whatever reason, should she change her plans to suit all them too ?
If it were one of my friends in similar position, which has happened a few times now, we would arrange to meet up just the two of us and do something i could manage and she would have her night out without me. I think that my choice to be pregnant shouldnt impact others within reason.

It doesn't sound small, but all I can say is my son just looked squashed and didn't sleep well. By the time his teddies were in with him it wasn't roomy enough. Also it was too low off the ground compared to a normal bed as he got bigger. I still think they are good value and am considering another one myself, but I just wouldn't expect it to last that long.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800

I've already said this on the facebook group. But just wanted to reassure people about sweeps. I went for mine this afternoon and honestly it really wasn't that bad at all, no worse than a smear. Just stay as relaxed as you can and it's over pretty quickly.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Sorry but I am completely clueless about this "reusable nappies" thing. What are they and how do you wash them? Are those like the old nappies my grandma used? Like a cloth you wash by hand?
No not like grandma. There is a company called fluff - fluffnappies on google(yes one word) don't want to spam so no link! That do them but funky ones. Pretty cool but I'm unsure if these are better than the reusable ones. Apparently it's the inside pads you take out to wash but I'm not sure I like the thought of putting them in our washing machine. The reusable or should I say washable? However are more fashionable??Mortgage overpayment01/05/11 - 31/12/2011£5000/£7000End of 2012 target£84000
