  • Thanks Rups but I'll probably be ok as I don't have much... about 6/7 sleepsuits and a couple of vests size newborn, another 2 sleepsuits 0-3 and that's about it! We're going for a surprise so can't go overboard with everything. How are you doing with 'the envelope' anyway? Have you peeked at all? (sorry if you have mentioned already, like I said, my memory is rubbish right now!)

Has your Health Visitor been ikkle? Was she nice? I've never heard of anyone seeing theirs before the baby is born.

Yes hun she's been and she was lovely. She gave me babies red book, some leaflets about breastfeeding, and info on our local groups like baby swimming, baby massage etc. Then she gave us a book called Birth to Five which covers everything from feeding, getting to know the baby, weaning, development, first aid etc, illnesses etc

She talked to me about where I could go for support on breastfeeding, or go for baby to be weighed, who to ring if I need help and stuff. x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

  • Meant to tell you all... midwife told me not to eat more than 5 grapes a day when BF because they do something to the milk that makes the baby have really gross nappies!!!

I'm fed up with the text messages too! I got one from the parents of the kids I was childminding for the other night asking if there was any news. I told them that there wasn't any news and I'd let them know when there is. Last night, I got a text from their daughter asking if I had a son yet! You would have thought that the mother would have told her to leave me alone. If I get one from the husband as well, I'm going to get really annoyed!
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • That sounds great ikkle! She sounds so lovely. My ante-natal care isn't so great so I don't have great expectations of the post-natal either. Thankfully I have you lot to help me though ;)

Rups, well done you! I've heard that finding out baby's gender when they're born is such an adrenaline rush. I wouldn't change it for the world!

    Thanks for the tip Dizsie

I still haven't put the washing on... better go now.

  • I've been sending very brief responses back to texts asking if the baby has come yet. Most texts have just said 'not yet x' which is my polite way of saying "Don't you think I would have told you if the baby had arrived? And do you really thing that by asking me about my overdue baby you are helping?" I don't mind the texts where people are asking if I am ok or if I want some company (even though I can't face seeing people at the mo!) but honestly, asking me if anything is happening yet is like a red rag to a bull!

Have now had some sharp abdominal pains today - first one around 1pm which took a littler while to wear off and even then was still in the background for a bit. Second one was around 3pm - not sure what this is? Googled it and some people are saying it's labour others are saying its not so not sure what to think really! Will see if I get anymore through the day.

Sat scoffing frozen carob raisins at the mo (makes them like chocolate toffee!) They are my fav, have been very naughty on the chocolate front for the past few months! x

lol i would just reply then to people saying 'no'. lol. i look foward to being more rude to people now. that same gym freak saw me now with a pret bag as it has a fruit salad in it and asked if i was having a second lunch? i turend around and said 'so if i am? its not anyone else's food, but mine. my mouth, my food'. Then he said you are eating for two! bloody hell!!!

  • ARRRGGHHHH! I am starting to not want to bother with certain friendships... my girl mates from school still act like my 18 yo cousin and drive me nuts! They are far to young mentally to have a baby and have ni idea what I am going through...msotly becuase they don't bother to ask or make contact, its always me calling them to see how they are and 9/10 times they don't answer or call back...

It is my friends (lets call her Alice) birthday next weekend and they have all decided to go out clubbing (with partners too) up town (London). I will be 33 weeks pregnant....

I text Alice weeks ago asking what the plan was for her bday and she said about going out clubbing up town but maybe a meal because i'm pregnant..I text back saying that sounds good because I went out clubbing for 'Deans' birthday at 23 weeks but wasn't showing too much so didn't look odd and it wasn't too difficult then and I wasn't so tired but it was local too and I don't think I could do it again now, but if going for drinks locally first and I could drive there and back we would come to that. Nothing....

So she text yesterday to say that they were going out to a different part of town but just as far to travel etc and were we going to come. I text back no because I wouldn't be able to cope with it all, I had been to a party round the corner in 'Cheryls' house on Saturday and left early (10.30) because I was really not feeling great being out and that it would just be too much for me being 7.5 months pregnant to go out clubbing with a 45 min train journey either way! She now appears to have the hump with me... I asked if she was going to do anything else locally like she suggested before and she said No as it was too much hassle to organise!!!

This is the friend who wanted to plan a baby shower for me yet has had no real interest in mine or the babies welfare...

Am I being hormonal or is she being a D**K ???

Maybe this one from Babino Direct? £10 + p&p or collection from Huddersfield, check measurements. This one from Kiddicare is £25 + p&p. Babymattresses has them also at the same price for different sizes.

    Advice
Talking about cots, cotbeds and moses... I want to save as much money as I can, whilst not compromising safety and wellbeing, but I do not want to buy anything that is not absolutely required or a timesaver. With me, my mum used a moses basket but then I was moved into a small single bed. Is this right? Can this be done? Why do we need a cot or cotbed? Can I buy instead a safeguard barrier so the child does not roll over and fall out? If you have children, for how long did you use the moses and the cot?
