Sounds like a good idea 2b, it's nice to have people who are going through similar to talk to and the facebook groups make it a lot easier to talk about personal things you may not want to discuss on here. x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Do we want to run it to be the group after the current one - so 26? Or shall I just start a different one entirely?
    xx

sexymouse - no not yet, I'm being so weird with food at the moment, I either really want something or I don't - at all. DW just made me a prawn stir fry (I normally love it), but it was slimy and I just couldn't eat it because of the texture!

  • Congrats on passing your test Rups you must be so pleased to have it out the way now, well done! :j

I've been reading the last few pages about visitors with interest, I've started to get really panicky about how many people will want to visit straight after, but even if labour goes well I'm not sure I'm going to be in the mood for entertaining people when I'll have to recover and learn how to look after a newborn. Also got a dilemma about a good friend whose family have had the MRSA virus for nearly 10 years now they can't seem to get rid of it and I'm really worried about them passing it on to my baby as I believe it's mainly contracted by skin to skin contact, how can I say no you can't come round and hold her?!

Also MIL has booked the week off I'm due and will be 'holidaying' in the area (she lives 3-4 hours away) but I don't really know her at all and will feel very awqward if she keeps coming round in the early days, she's nice enough but going by past visits I can't see her helping just sitting round on the sofa drinking tea.

One last thing - I went to an NCT waterbirth class last night it cost £29 (as the only other thing I've been to is the NHS antenatal one) and it was really good I'd highly recommend it if your considering a waterbirth as they had lots of info on the local hospital's policies and it was good just to learn a bit more about labour in general.

:j Congratulations Rups, well done :j And make sure you get an input on which new car to get now that you'll be driving too!

Interfering families - I must be lucky that I don't have much problem with this. I think we've had one text from the in-laws since DH felt obliged to inform them of the pregnancy, and that's about as far as communication goes. No visits to fear from them!

My parents are great, they'll want to see baby, but won't pressure it. They have to look after the kids whilst I'm in labour, and my mum has offered to have a couple of days off work if I need help afterwards. She also said today if I give her a list of bits I need for baby she'll go and buy them nearer the time. She's like me, she doesn't see the need to be buying yet with over 3 weeks to go :D

dizsie - glad he's moving well now :) It is so scary when these bumps are naughty and go quiet!

Cake - glad everything was ok with the twins at the weekend. As for the non-bio washing, I'd still do it anyway as the babies clothes will be against their skin all the time. Personally I swapped completely to non-bio when my daughter was born, and we still all have everything washed in non-bio now as I prefer it.

  • Congratulations Rups x

Re non bio, we wash everything with it as both DD and OH have sensitive skin sometimes so I've always used it. The only problem I have with it is it makes my machine smell after a while so I buy a washing machine cleaner every now and then and once a month I put on a boil wash with nothing in it to freshen it up.

You can call your group whatever you please, I made ours up and its only for the benefit of those who join so you know what notifications are from etc,

Just make sure you get the settings correct so that what you post can only be seen by those in the group, the group wont be searchable and the stalker bar at the side wont show friends what you are all commenting on,

AFM - 1 week today :j which is a good job as im in so much pain I can only manage to do half the school run, my mum & dad pick me up from the school to run me home and then i sit for the rest of the day or evening to recover :( thankfully my husband is being outstanding at the moment and doing everything i cant without asking :T

congrats on passing your test Rups :T

My OH has very sensitive skin, we switched to non-bio but not all brands agreed with him, so we switched again to "Simply Sensitive Powder Tabs", they come in a round tub around £2.99 x 15 washes, it has either the pic of a baby or lillies on the front, with a light blue or pink background (see below). It is the only washing powder that my hubby's skin can deal with. I would highly recommend it. It is hypoallergenic.

I know Tesc has them all year, I found them at Morr and Sainsb sometimes but either they run out quickly or they do not have them all the time.

  • Evening! Have lurked today but couldn't get posting.

Dizsie - glad baby has started moving more for you! And sorry he's making you feel sick!

Rups - yay well done that's fab news!

Cake - that's another one to add to my list for checking out! I like looking at prams! :D thank you

On the non-bio thing - I've always used non-bio for everything. Made it a lot easier when DS arrived as I just washed everything together.

Mishka you have my sympathies. My pgp has returned already and I can only assume that it will get as bad as last time. DH has already looked out my crutches! Lol!
  • dizsiebubba - I'm glad baby started moving again.
Rups - Well done on passing your test!! Have you thought about cars yet?
Re: washing baby's clothes - we already use non-bio for ours but was thinking of getting some ecover for baby's stuff as it's supposed to be plant-based and leave less residues. I like marta's suggestion too so will look out for it when I go food shopping next.

I have my 34 wk mw appointment tomorrow. I think it's the first time I'm actually looking forward to it as I have a list of things to ask and I really need some advice about this pelvic pain!
I'm off to bed soon so good night to you all!

One thing mentioned at the birth class was washing babies clothes in non-bio. Apparently, its pointless because our clothes and bedding etc arent all washed in it so babies are going to get all the chemicals and whatnots on their skin anyway. What does everyone think of this?
I spent my childhood with asthma and allergies and I firmly believe that it would have been much better without chemically-type washing powders (and the cat, but you do get used to your own pets). I don't think it's the skin irritation so much as breathing the fumes - if you're sleeping on something which affects you it gets in your lungs, and hence the asthma...

Now that I run my own household, it's non-bio all the way, and very little (if any) fragrance, no asthma/allergies in years (but I do this with cleaning products too). Some of the clothes I've bought recently off ebay (usually the maternity wear rather than the baby clothes thankfully) come in here stinking the place out - if you're used to it I don't think you notice but both hubby and I are astounded by how strong they smell (and this remains after washing the first time, and possibly the second!). We use only ecover non-bio liquid (I find powders leave residue) or soapnuts, although I might try bio-d soon following a post on a nappy site about ecover.
