oooh labour vibes to you MMM. Hope it happens very soon!:)

i was meant to mention about your cat sexymouse but i forgot lol. it does sound so sweet. bless. ilove cats and wish could have one. i am stuck between a dog and a cat but DH says now is not the right time.

I have tried to be so calm today but everyone seems to be getting on my nerves at work today!!! first of all we have the world's nosiest people here!! i had my box to open up from amazon yest and it had my babymoov changing bag, the carbon monoxide detector and a music cd. i waited till after 5 and when i started opening it up, there was so much bloody stuffing in it, this woman rushed to see what i was doing and she had a rummage and i said do you mind?

i just found 2 guys next to me looking at my maternity form so i told them off. my fault really as shouldnt have left it on my desk but its right next to me and they just picked it up and looked at it. one stupid woman keeps calling me preggers and preggie and laughs as if she is so funny. sorry am in a bad mood. i try and laugh it off but really cant people mind their own business?

LittleMoog, I am also looking for a carrier. One thing I have read in different places is that it is best to choose one that is not rigid at the back. Adults might need to keep their backs straight but babies need to keep the back in a "C" shape in order to develop the spine properly, they need to be able to bend their knees up and have them slightly higher than their bum. Apparently this is what babies and children naturally do and it allows the space between the disks and hips to grow and fill with the right fluid (or something like that). For what I read, carriers that have rigid backs and keep the babies straight might produce hips displaxia, which apparently is most common in the Western developed countries because of the way we have started to carry babies. In Asia, Africa and Latin America is much less common because they carry them in the wrap generally, which is very flexible and adapts to the baby, instead of the other way round. Well.. that is what I understood anyway, do a Google search about baby carriers and hip displaxia (or something along those lines).

The only problem I have is that husband won't use a wrap thing, he wants something more masculine, in neutral colours, which I kind of understand. The baby carriers I have seen that are flexible, according to online reviews, are usually expensive. However, I plan to go to different shops and see their stock, they may have some unknown brand that does the job and is flexible, without padding in the baby's back.

Thanks everyone for letting me know that I can still make it with a tight budget! That is a relief, I read the list you've put up there, from the book, and I think I will try to stick to those and ask family and friends to buy stuff from that if they want to give us anything.

I have looked around my area for Aquanatal Swimming and there is one session once a week in a Swimming Pool about 30 minutes away. Has any of you been to one of this? I just need to drop by and it costs around £2 the session, so not bad! Although I have to add the bus, which is almost £5 return! I also had a look at pregnancy yoga, there's also a class where a live but it costs around £7 per week, for 1h and a half, has any of you tried it? I have just started the Third Trimester and I am increasingly feeling back pain. I am afraid I have not done any exercise and I wasn't exactly fit before... I haven't even done any Kegels yet, I keep forgetting :( Would you recommend to do the Pregnancy Yoga, the Aquanatal or both?

marta, if hubby's after a 'masculine' sling, would one of the wraps not work if you got a neutral colour? Or perhaps one of the 'panel wraps' like this (you can get your own material for the panel)
At the baby show we tried a wrap sling (Cot2Tot) and I was quite impressed with how secure it felt. I already have bought a baby-bjorn miracle carrier though, so I'll see how we get on with either. My hubby seemed OK with the idea of a wrap, the only problem I can see is it seems a little harder to remove baby in a hurry if you need to (but you're not going to know that properly until you try with an actual baby rather than the doll!).

MMM hope things start to happen on their own without the need for a sweep. Congratulations on only being 2/5 palpable though - I was 3 at last check, so hoping that when I next see the mw (a week Friday) that if I've not had Bean by then (will be 39+5 then) that I'll be more engaged. I love hearing about your cats too - they all have such different characters, and I know how much I love my furbaby so it's nice to hear of other people who love their's so much too. ikkle's kitten is really cute too! Hope you manage to get the changing bag situation sorted out - that's really frustrating. I've only had one bad buy on ebay (a DVD player for my Dad's birthday that worked once and then stopped working). It's made me a lot more cautious about buying stuff on there though so I've only bought new stuff since.

marta I started doing aquanatal when I was 36+3 and I really enjoy it. It really takes the weight off the bump and your back, and being able to just float (with the help of those foam tubes) is amazing as I can lie down as it were without my back or hips etc hurting. I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone, and have done on here. Unfortunately my class is a bit more expensive (£6.50) for a 45 minute class and then an hour chat with the midwife who runs it afterwards. We normally buy a drink during the chat, which obviously makes it even less MSE, but I think that it's worth it, as the midwife if lovely and you never get enough time to talk about things in the actual midwife appointments at my surgery. I intend to go until the end of my pregnancy, as like the NCT classes, although they were expensive, I feel that it's a short-term cost for a big benefit (also get to meet other local Mums).

Ladies who are looking for a wrap carrier, that can be customised with different material panels on the front, try this lady (Victoria the slinglady). She's been recommended on here a few times (we're still trying to decide which one to get so I can't talk from personal experience, but I know emsbet has one). She also has an ebay shop too.

Managed to get a couple of loads of washing done today (need to get them in in a minute) - 2 sets of sheets (one set was a set that I bought years ago that I found still in it's packet under the bed when we moved it for the builders, so thought I'd wash them and put them away - 500 thread-count white cotton sateen sheets reduced from £120 to £36 :) ). Obviously these won't be going on the bed for quite some time as I don't want to spoil them but I'm looking forward to using them potentially next summer.

Well I'd better go and get that washing in before it starts to get damp.

Hugs to all who need or want them and labour vibes where appropriate.

    sexymouse xx

ETA: savage beat me to it with the linky for the slings. :)

Thanks *Twinkle* that's absolutely gorgeous! I have serious pram envy! (its out of price range and I'm being good but it is still gorgeous!). I remember looking at the icandy cherry when I was looking for DS but decided no. I still wonder if I would have preferred it! However realistically DS would have been out of the carrycot in less than 3 months and not able to use the seat unit too easily so I think I made the right choice! The dilemma is will DS still need use of a pram when junior arrives. We will probably just decide come January if we still need one and then order it but I like looking at them now! Probably cos I already have everything and just want to have one thing I can think about getting! Lol! :rotfl:

    !
there's only going to be 13 months between my two so i'm gonna get sooooo much use out of it, i've not bought the carrycot, just the 2 seat units and will use the adaptor for the car seat for bubs until he's old enough to go in the seat. It is expensive but i do alot of walking so i want something thats built well and i'll more than get my moneys worth out of it, plus they sell really well 2nd hand :D
    Skint, but happy (ish):p

Im feeling really wore out and upset today. Since coming home Ive been in so much pain and not gettng much sleep at all. OH is being a right ****** to me, keeps shouting at me, making nasty comments and is having me in tears every evening. I don't know why he's like it, he wasn't after our other two. He really belittled me in the garden today infront of the neighbours with the way he was talking to me and the things he was saying.

thank you, I think maybe he's moody because he is tired. I wish he would consider how tired I am after giving birth and seeing as is me up in the night as he sleeps through, not to mention my high bp and Im anaemic I think he is being a selfish inconsiderate . .

I had a look at the Aquatots website and they have a swimming pool in Croydon, in one section of the website says that they have started to do aquanatal (http://www.aquatots.com/aqt_page.php?id_page=2&page=60) too, they are in several places over the country. They have the contact details there to enquiry, you might have one close to where you live.

*EDIT: Lol, I found this whilst looking at the Croydon classes: Buggycise, exercise with your buggy after the birth: http://www.yummymummiesfitness.co.uk/buggycise.html Never heard of this before!!
emweaver, sorry about your day, I hope the rest of the week is better for you. Being tired or hungry is not an excuse to be mean, but I guess we all do it sometimes. :(
