Thanks for the welcome, sorry I didn't do the list right!
I am a bit shocked at the money some of you have spent! I am starting to be a bit worried if I have to spend that much
So far, we bought a travel system and some nappies. My MIL is getting the moses basket, and we will buy a cotbed in the January sales, unless we find a great offer before that. We have been given some clothes, vests, socks and general toiletries. I got the free changing bag from Boots. So far, I have spent £100 and expect to pay around £400 more in the cotbed and some bedding, but comparing it to the £1000-£4000 some of you are talked about, it is petty cash. What am I missing?
Just a heads up: I went to Boots last weekend, planning to have a look at the travel systems. They had a few on display and we went to ask about how they worked and get a demo. When the assistant came, she told us that about 4 or 5 of them were on offer and now were only £60 or £80. The displayed prices were the full ones, the one we wanted was out of stock but we decided to took the display model, the lady cleaned it for us and at the end of the day it has never been used! The original price was £260 and we had it for £60, pram and infant carseat carrier, with rain cover. Because it was the display one, we only had 6 months warranty, but if we had chosen one of the others on offer, which had stock, we would have gotten the full warranty as well. I checked online and the travel system I bought is still on sale at Argos and other places, still full price. The lady told us that they need to get rid of the store stock and display to make room for the new range way ahead of Christmas. I guess this reduced sale is branch based, it does not appear online, nor does it say anything in the shop but if you are looking to buy a pram just go and ask if they have any offer not on display, or any reduced price on the display stock. Honestly, the lady used antibacterial wipes to get rid of the dust that had stuck to the metal from being on display, and as new. Perfect. I will now have a look at other branches and see if they have cotbeds, I was very happy with the purchase and chuffed at the price. Then I got the free changing bag after buying the Pampers on offer, got 50 for £6, I thought it was a good price.
On the nappies topic, I have a question: are the Pampers 1 the smallest size? The one I should take with me to the hospital? I have 50 of Pampers 1 and 80 of Pampers 2. How many do you think I should buy of each to be prepared and make use of the offers?Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Wow whats going on i was 69 this morning and got all excited and now im 72 it gets worse lol
A warm welcome to marta, jules & findmyownway
wow what a good deal you got on your travel system marta, i thought i got a big saving on getting my mamas and papas pushchair and carseat from boots last week saving me £109.
I am not planning on spending £1000's either on the bits we need this is my 3rd and now know how little use most items will have before they are no good anymore. You spennd what you feel comfortable with.
I think I have finally decided I will go with the separate birth centre rather than the one in the main hospital, we looked round yesterday and it is so relaxed. It only has space for 9 people, and has a huge communal area and brand new facilities. Plus air con, which is the one thing I hate most about hospitals that they are sooooo hot.
I am going to view a birth centre on thursday, i like the idea of it been more relaxed and homely the only thing that scares me is if i need a c-section i would need to be transfered to a hospital, but my last 2 births were normal without any help, so fingers crossed.Baby Due Date 30/01/ 2013

Rups - I think its breast crawl they don't recommend just to pressure on hips etc (correct me if I'm wrong someone though!)
I would fully recommend swimming - great for body, to feel weightless (oh the relief!) and great for the mind too. I went twice a week for the last two months of my pregnancy until I was admitted to hospital. Just loved bobbing about

Thanks! I thought so, other travel systems were £360 and were reduced to £80! We went for this other one because it was very easy to fold and click the carseat in, but they certainly had some bargains in other models too.
I ask because being my first baby I am not sure what it is really needed. I do not want to buy stuff I won't be using in a couple of months and I do not have much room in the flat either. We decided we do not need a dresser, I am selling clothes on ebay so I can use for that purpose a set of drawers I have. I decided I do not need a bath after seeing how big they are and reading around forums that many people use them only once or twice. I might buy a bath inner/seat, which I believe are about £10-£15, but can be folded away. Or just do like other people and put baby in my bath when I am finishing my own. We have been given a few outfits, vests, muslim cloths, socks, cream one piece outfits (whatever they are called), toiletries, a box to put baby stuff in, toys and I might get a sterilizer too.
I think I only need the cotbed, the bedding/mattress and a baby carrier (which I prefer to the pram for public transport and use at home). . I assume all that plus a few bits and bobs in toiletries, like thermometers or sponges might be up to £400... but maybe I am assuming wrong! We are trying to buy as many nappies on offer as we can and stock up for when baby arrives. The only problem is that I do not know how many we might need!!! Do you remember how many you generally used in each size?Quit smoking *1st January 2010*
