Enjoy your maternity leave Carrie :) Have you still got lots to do to get ready for baby or are you all organised? That's great that your appointment went well, hopefully baby will arrive before you need the sweep!

Thanks Katy, yeah I hope I won't need that 41 week appointment, it made me feel really nervous when she started talking about that, being my first it's all a bit scary!

Pretty much all ready now, a few more bits needed for the hospital bag (mainly drinks & snacks) and good house clean is in order I think! How about you? Are your bags all packed?

I wasn't scared at all, but as it's getting closer the memories of my other labours are starting to return in gory detail and now I'm nervous!

I'm the least ready person on the whole thread lol! I still haven't even got a bag, let alone anything packed in it. I'm getting my hospital bag sorted next week, and baby's the week after. I did try and get started on the shopping earlier, but I was outside for less than 10 minutes before the heat made me feel sick and dizzy. I think I'll have to either head for an air conditioned shopping centre or wait until this mini heatwave ends.

enjoy your maternity leave carrie. am already looking forward to mine but i still have like 2 months i think. i have to decide when to go. hmmm

welcome sarahs999, glad your scan went well.

thanks katyliz, am back now and i died walking to the GP's. It normally takes me 10 minutes (usual pace) but today more than 15. i was melting as it is so hot. i got there and waited as usual as these appointments are never on time. whilst waiting, there were these two women, who came together (one of them was seeing the MW) so she asked me how far gone i was, and i said 6 months and she gasped and said 'your belly is soooo huuuuuge'. and i turned around and said 'so what? arent we all different?'. is there a sign on my head that lets people tell me all sort of stuff? stupid woman...anyway like you had said, got my BP checked and he GP checked and pressed belly and then we heard bubbas heartbeat. i asked for my work certificate thing and that was the appointment done. so quick. he said they dont weigh anymore and he doesnt measure, so mw might do it next time. made my 28 weeks appointment and was out melting again. i need to cool down. its too hot. had a nice solero on the way back lol

    Afternoon all!

Well all went well at the midwife this morning. She agreed that baby had dropped (said she can only feel half a head) and has put me down as 3/5 palpable. I was surprised that it was only 3 and not 2 after her comment, but not really sure how they work it out anyway as I'm sure it must be slightly subjective like the bump measuring is. Had a male medical student in there too, and he had a feel of my tummy too. He was much more gentle that she was, and when she showed him how to feel for the head, it was quite painful when she demonstrated. Good job she didn't have long nails! BP etc. was all normal, and I told her about the pains I'd had during the night (had them again last night, so that's 3 nights in a row now), and she said it all sounds completely normal (the shooting pains could be effacement), but that if I ever got pains and I wasn't sure if it were the real thing, then I could call the hospital and talk to them as they could advise me.

Having my second RLT of the day - getting sick of the stuff now, and not sure if I can face upping the dose to 4 cups a day. :o I've never been a huge fan of fruit teas, but I think it's the quantity of them that's turning my stomach a bit at the moment. Still, if it makes the 2nd stage easier, I'm willing to keep going - after all, it's nowhere near as bad as the Gaviscon I used to take!

Wow I'm moving up the list really quickly - getting quite exciting seeing all these babies arrive now.

Well I'm off to check my emails etc and think I may have an afternoon nap at some point as I was up 3 times in the night again last night so could do with a catch-up.

Hugs to all who need or want them, and labour vibes where appropriate.

    sexymouse, glad everything well !
Rups, poor you, some people are just silly. I went to pick DD up, and her school is full of women that have no manners, one almost fell on me and didnt even say sorry, the look i gave her said it all.
Most of them don't even say hello when one is trying to be polite, only talk between them, and just look in a weird way to the ones that are not in that group.

just went to get some bread out ofthe freezer as was peckish and found the freezer switched off by accident. think BIL did it when he ironed his shirts last night.do you think the food is still ok to eat? i have turned it back on and it has only partially sort of gone soft. not too much. :(

sorry to hear that morocha. some people are just damn right rude. i wouldnt ever say to anyone about their belly as each to their own. stpid women. why do some stick in their group also? will it kill them to just be friendly to someone else? i give filthy looks to people all the time in Croydon as so many people are mannerless.

Rups glad the appointment went well. You are unlucky for all the horrid people making comments to you. An old lady in for gynae said yesterday 'finally a young lady who appears to be pregnant rather than fat, I can't tell with most of you in here' as I walked in to the clinic. I thought she was going to get attacked!!

In this weather I'm not sure I'd risk the freezer food being ok. Usually I would, but if it's gone soft I'd be worried about getting a bad tummy from it.

sexymouse - glad your appointment went well too. I'm supposed to be 3/5 as well, but I really don't think I am as I'm not feeling any pressure down there. So maybe it's not accurate, who knows? Hope you have a nice nap.

morocha - school mums can be awful! I can't stand the school run, people already have their friends and can be very cliquey. I just stand on my own at the back of the playground and stay quiet.

thanks katyliz. think i better empty it out and put it into the fridge then. grrrr...hassle.

i didnt think mums would be like that at school runs to be honest. its weird because at work that happened before and even now some girls stick in their groups and u can tell they are chattng about something and whispering etc. i hate it. thats why i used to just go to the gym and couldnt be bothered wth them. now i just go for a walk.

i know its weird that people are making comments. i just got to ignore it.
