Just done the food shop with Moon and ended up getting frusli bars for Moon as they're only 99p at the moment as they're half price, so he's having some of those as snacks for the hospital.
Snacks genuinely are a good idea. I took frusli bars too and they were great - for you too. You do need to eat but you can't really manage much else. The other thing you'll need (obv) is lots of water. Thing is, you won't realise it. Talk to Moon beforehand and ask him to keep giving you cups of water, whether you ask for it or not (you probably won't). Tell him not to bother asking, just to pass you the cup. You'll gulp it down without even realising you needed it. It's something practical and useful that other halves can do. Thanks fluffnutter. Have also decided to half-fill some empty bottles with water and freeze them and then top up with water just before we leave so that I have nice cool water too. We'll have a couple of straws from the apple juice cartons I'm packing too in case I need to use a straw to sip water if I make it to the birthing pool.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Rups don't worry about the eating and drinking in labour - the midwives tell you not to starve yourself - they've seen it all before if anything does come out, and to be honest, the fact that the pushing sensation is mean to feel like pooing, often leads to that happening anyway. Your body normally starts to have a clear out before you go into labour too, and there are usually toilets nearby if not ensuite if you can make it to those when not at the pushing stage.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Definitely eat what you can, I'd rather have pooped myself than not have eaten for almost 3 days. Towards the end I had no energy left and couldn't eat by that point as I had an epidural in.
In labour I couldn't have eaten anything, I just didn't want to, I just wish before my contractions had got more frequent I'd eaten more, but I went off food the whole week before it.
I'd take snacks for after too, they forgot my dinner the first night :eek:The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Can you not eat/drink with an epidural? xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

OMG I'm 8th. When the hell did that happen?
As for snacks, I have breakfast bars and some dried fruit. I have some water as well. The midwife on the labour ward said to put the water in the freezer because it will not stay ice for long in that place.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Rups it also depends on the type of handles on your buggy. The bags always fit one way or another, but can drag down really low on certain buggies depending on the handles. I'd just go for it if you find one you like.
mayforher -I'm just over 35 weeks. The list of names and due dates always comes up every day or so if you ever want to get an idea of how far along everyone is as you get used to all the names
Twinkle - Those Yummy Mummy bags are nice, but way out of my price range!
Gilly - I've had an epidural twice before and was allowed to eat both times (I didn't fancy anything, but the MW's actually encouraged me to eat). Were you actually not allowed to eat?Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800
