There are people for whom BFing comes easily. There are people who don't fancy it at all. There are people who are simply unable to feed. My post was for another category - those who want to but, because it's hard in the first few weeks, start believing they can't.

If you don't want to do it, no one should encourage or pressure you into it. I'm trying to support those who do want to but struggle with it.

To utterly change the subject, I've just made some healthy(ish;)) chocolate & courgette muffins to use up the courgettes that had been lurking in our fridge.

So tempted to add fudgy chocolate icing, but DH is supposed to be dieting, what to do? :p

  • Afternoon all...

This thread moves so quickly...been on nights and i can read the thread at work but can't really update -so i sat and made notes as to what i was going to reply to people...and now the topics have changed so much its almost irrelevant! but hey ho...

Thanks so much to everyone for your comments on the exercise topic, esp MMM - you sounds as much of an exercise freak as me! I normally do crossfit which is a lot of weight lifting and compound body exercise..i was so ill for the first few months of my pregnancy that i literally did nothing -walking the stairs was the only exercise i got! I'm slowly getting back into it, but obv not pushing myself as hard as i used to, i'm also aware i wont be able to continue with the same type of exercises for the whole of the regnancy so have looked into aquanatal, pilates and yoga.
I've signed up for a 4 week antenal pilates class (hoing it will hel with the pelvic floor exercise - no matter how much i try and make myself do them...i just forget!)
I'm also going to try aquanatal on Monday next week (thanks sexymouse!)

Ellionic i have blood in my urine and after it was sent away it came back with no infection. Was tested 2 weeks later and the same thing happened. The dr and midwife said i mayhave had a micro bleed and just not realised, but neither seemed worried. I got tested again last week and no blood -so have no idea what caused it, but it was nothing to worry about. Hope you get answers soon.

BezzyK i'm glad you asked about the antenatal classes (and thanks to eveyone who replied). I have signed u to the free NHS ones (only 2 in our area) and have lloked at the NCT ones. Friends have raved about the NCT ones, but they are just so expense. I got the price down by saying i didn't want the membership-is the £40 actually worth the membership? anyone?

Welcome to all the newbies, and congrats to rjh and kitten x x

As for carrying my notes around...i didn't even know we had to! I'm only 19+3 so should i start now, or wait til later in the pregnancy?

I'm well impressed by all you organised people who have made lists and bought most things...I need to start with a list really, i'm just quite a laid back person and feel like i've got loads of time to do things, but the next 20 weeks i know will fly by!!

As for Breastfeeding...I'm going to attempt it, but if it doesn't happen i'm not going to beat myself up about it. I have a friend who is very pro breastfeeding - is still feeding her 18month old morning and night. She always makes commets about people giving up to easily! but on the otherhand i have a friens who struggled somuch she went back into hospital to get help from the midwives...it still didn't work out and now she bottlefeeds. her baby is hapy and healthy and she is much better for it.
I think like most poeple have said - each to their own.

Rups when did you first start feeling flutters? the other night at work i thought i felt something almost like a bubble moving around -but not sure if it was baby movement or wind!! i just want to feel something...!!

I'm shattered today...got into bed about 4am, DH was up at 6am, I was up at 8 ish for a wee, then woken by the postman at 11!! It seems like i had a few hours, but it was allsobroken, and i've got a bit of stuffy nose at the moment so its harder going back to sleep cos i can't breathe!!!
Got a school reunion tonight - 17 years since i left school...doesn't seem that long! I'm nervous though as i look like i'm just fat rather than pregnant...and i don't know what to wear...!

sorry for the long post guys...almost like an essay...just been trying to catch up! i'm off work now on leave til 17th September, so hopefully, i'll be able to keep u and ost shorter posts!

    hugs to all

    me x

:rotfl: I like your thinking! Especially as it will leave plenty of icing in the bowl for licking out ;)

hey elisabeth how you been? i started feeling those flutters after 20 weeks (more into 21 weeks). sometimes before that i felt those gassy feelings too and wasnt sure whether was gas or movements. sometimes i also wonder is it because i had a big belly to start with, i will feel less movements? lol. this week have felt more of those pulses though. hope i get those kicks soon. :)

sarara i am lost with what you have written. lol. preg brain indeed. :p

I started feeling flutters early, at about 15 weeks, but I wasn't sure they weren't digestion bubbles for a while. DH felt baby from about 19 weeks. I seem to either have a very active baby, or very sensitive uterus, because it's very early for a first! Now I'm getting properly pushed around and I can feel her rolling over under my hand and things (it feels like a bag of snakes, very odd!). If you have a anterior placenta it can mean that it'll take you longer to feel the baby as all the kicks will be at the back.
