Hi All

Well after last posting a week ago with contractions Baby Heidi was born at 4.19pm on monday 20th Aug 2wks early and 6lb 4.

Birth story -we were admitted to the birth unit at 9pm sunday and used a cosy birth room with only a tens machine for relief untill 3am monday. We then moved to a room with a pool and used gas and air while in the pool and the tens as extra when on the comfy furniture.

So far all was going well and I was coping brilliantly

We were expecting Heidi to make and appearance by 7am but by 8am things were not moving and i was only 7cm dillated but having full contractions and involuntary pushing.
The MW got me out of the pool for a full check up and called in a doctor who then decided i needed oxytocin to progress the labour and also to move Heidi as she had turned and was head tilted while somewhere between back to back and breech :eek:

We were then sent down to the main labour ward and placed on a bed which i hated at this was about 9am Monday, by Mon pm I was exhausted and still only on the tens and gas but was now dillated and ready to deliver her. This is where things didnt go to plan, I could not push. My body had given up and was not telling me to push no matter how hard i tried.
In the end i begged to see the doctor and as i was sure i did not want an epidural i asked for GA which they were not happy with but did agree to after 30mins of trying to convince me otherwise. I was taken to emergency theatre put under GA and Heidi was turned and delivered with forceps.

The doctor was amazing not a mark on her other then one tiny bruise on her cheek, Just wish i could say the same for me :eek:

We are now both doing really well, my soreness and swelling is finally improving and i can sit still long enough to type this.

I've realised I'll finally hit the top 30 in a couple of days once rjh, Kitten, and BCS have got their mummy cuddles!

Looking at the births it's no wonder it has gone too quiet on here lately. Only 7 births in July, yet there have been 15 in August already, with more to come! We need some more new recruits before the thread becomes deserted

A huge congrats to you feretty. Such a lovely name too.

went for the Indian wedding yesterday and wasnt in the mood for it. managed to squeeze into my saree and the blouse was tight but i managed for a few hours. there was so much food there, however it was all spicy so i had some, and this morning my poor belly and bum suffered. i am not used to spicy food now and have been to the loo (thank god not diarrhoea - but close enough). yuck. my bums sore. sorry TMI. lol

so do i talk THAT much on here? lol.

Just chilling now. am not sleeping that well as keep changing sides and then weeing. so constantly tired.

on the plus side, we went to the carpet place today and have arranged an appointment for someone to come home next week and provide an estimate. am getting excited. had some 'popcorn' type movements in belly yesterday. bit quiet today and my belly is start to itch.
