That is crazy scottishchick! What if you are stuck in for days, are you just meant to go slightly mad not being able to contact anyone!? Phone chargers are allowed on the children's wards where I am, so I assume it'll be the same on maternity wards.

Nope your supposed to pay the £10 or whatever extortionate cost it is now for the tv/phone at your bed. Can guarantee if you go for the 3 day option they will let you home after a few hours and if you go for the few hours option they will keep you in for a few days lol.

They don't have tvs on the post-delivery ward at my hospital. They do however, let OHs stay overnight on reclining chairs. :) I'm hoping I won't be in that long anyway, but you never know.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

They aren't modern enough at my hospital to have tv's or phones by the bed. They have one tv per 8 people and no phones at all, so I guess that's why they can't make rules like that. It'll certainly be boring for me if I get stuck in as I don't even have a modern internet capable mobile. I can't figure out how to work them, so I've never bothered :o

I've not packed mine yet but thought about it the other day - I think I'd prefer a hold-all type bag where you can get to stuff easily from the outside (different pockets and things) easily rather than unpacking everthing each time. I think I'll also take two bags, one for me and one for baby. I'm not sure we have a suitable bag though so we'll have to see what I can come up with. I suspect there's too much stuff for my small backpack although you can shove a surprising amount in it :) I was also going to suggest earplugs but LMM beat me to it.

Ah seems we are quite lucky then with our hospital, it's the LGI where OBEM is being filmed again. It didn't use to be too bad as we had a family friend who worked for the company that do the tv/phones and so he used to add credit on for me when I was in.

Tis all very exciting that it's nearly time. Can't believe this time next week we will be in September! x

  • They have tvs in the pre-labour ward but not in the post delivery ward at our hospital, their reasoning is that we will be too busy with our babies afterwards.

I've got a holdall with wheels for my hospital bag, got it in the Tesco luggage event as I've wanted one for ages - I can't lift any of our other weekend bags when they're full! Not that I've packed it yet, will have to get it all done before FIL's wedding in October as it's on the South coast, and if I don't take everything with us it would be sods law that I'd go into labour early! Will pack Beanie's stuff in my changing bag to make it easier to find.

I still can't find any urgency for buying/packing my hospital bag. Now I know baby is growing ok again I won't be delivering early for any reason. I can't imagine it happening naturally early, so 6 weeks (or more!) still seems a long way off to me. And it doesn't help that my mum always seems to think I'm two weeks ahead of where I am, so when I have to correct her I feel further behind.

I've got to sort school uniforms next. I spent £70 yesterday on their school shoes, which made me realise how expensive it'll be when I have to buy 3x school stuff in a few years. Kids never get any cheaper!

My bags are packed...yey me. I only did it at 37 weeks though because we went away for the weekend. I have no idea what I packed in them now though. Ha ha.

I can feel a pressure on my cervix today, feels very odd. I'm 38 weeks on Monday so wondering if that means baby has dropped.
