Bad news is that my iron levels have actually dropped since I've been on the iron tablets rather than gone up (were 10.9 and now 10.2), yet I've been really making an effort to eat loads of iron-rich foods and having vimto and fruit juices with vitamin C in to help me absorb it. Have only been able to take 1 instead of 2 a day of the iron sulphate as I told her it was upsetting my tummy. I told her that I'd heard that iron gluconate could be better, and she said she'll order some from the pharmacy, so we've got to pick up after 4.30 today. She also recommended I get Spatone from a health-food shop (it costs a fortune though) as this is easily digestible (not available on prescription though unfortunately) but I found it in Superdrug for £3.29 for 14 sachets, which is cheaper than everywhere else I've checked. Just had the first sachet diluted with vimto, and was fine until Moon tried it and said it tasted like blood! Had to just down it after that as it put me right off!
I'm wondering if the fact that my iron levels have gone down is due to the omeprazole that I'm taking - I forgot about that link to mention it to the midwife, as I remember thinking about this last time I'd left the appointment too, but Moon's memory is worse than mine, so think I'll have to write it down to remind myself for next appointment. Mind you, I'll be 37+5 then, so not much longer to go then.
Sexymouse, as I've said before, I'm no expert, but my iron levels did similar, despite taking Spatone (other iron disagreed with me!). It was something like 10.9 or 20.7, then went down to 10.1 by about 36 weeks. At the higher figure, the midwife was nagging me about my levels, but my doctor said actually they weren't that bad at all. At the lower level, she wanted me to go for an iron infusion, but I refused.
I did some googling, and seem to remember I found that it was very common at this stage in pregnancy, as obviously you have a higher blood volume, and that 10 wasn't particularly bad. If you're not having any anaemia symptoms, I wouldn't worry too much. My midwife and the hospital made me very cross as they tried to scare me into the infusion by saying I was more likely to haemorrage, which I don't think was true. As it went, I had a natural third stage and no problems after birth, and fairly light bleeding.0 -
Oh, and apple flavour Spatone is the way to go!0

Welcome countrybum and congratulations on the tempting fate bfp
I don't have rh- but understand that it is quite common, you will need a few injections throughout the pregnancy 2 rings a bell and if you suffer any bleeding or a fall don't risk it go in so they can inject you if necessary.
Sure someone will be along with more accurate information soon.
Vk have you used a clear blue which take away some abiguity, there are a minority of women who never test positive on a test (did you last time?) and some that show up late. The doctor will be able to do a blood test which I believe can show a bfp which wouldn't usually show on a urine test however their urine tests are pretty much the same as you get in the shops. Fingers crossed for you and try not to symptom spot too much the girls on the ttc thread will tell you how easy it is to convince yourself.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Yes clear blue is great. We did four when I though I was pregnant. Two were negative and two were positive. This was 5 days before missed period. One was so pale I could t decide if was positive or not. The digital pregnant or not pregnant ones are much betterlove you lots like jelly tots0

I'm currentley 15+3 (EDD 12/2/13) with my first. It's been a longish, tough road for us, finally got bfp 5 days before IVF!!
As its my first, I'm nervous/excited/scared and everything inbetween!!
I'm more of a lurker than a poster cos I never know what to say! You all seem a lovely bunch with loads of words of wisdom and a massive support to each other.
Hope you don't mind me starting with a question - I found out yesterday from the midwife I'm rhesus negative:(, are any of you in the same boat? It does make me feel a little more cautious about things.
Well, hope you're all having a lovely evening - I'm currently tucked up in bed with laptop, hot water bottle on my achey back and the dog curled up at my feet:D DH is out at the pub and he's getting a lift home
I'm rhesus negative too and it's no problem. I had an injection at 28 weeks and I think I get another after I give birth, might be wrong though as the rules have changed since I had DD. Then I had two injections with a third just after she was born. I had no problems then either.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -

Morning,
Lol, MummyofTwo, I was thinking the same, it's very quiet lately. We've got too many ladies giving birth early and moving to the newborn thread, so cheeky of them
Welcome countrybumCongratulations on your pregnancy. I know nothing about rhesus negative, but I'm sure someone will know.
ikkle -did anyone turn the heat down for you in the end? That is inconsiderate, I can't bear being hot and it had me close to tears when it was just the weather and no one's fault.
Not another queue jumper Milliebob! I don't think there'll be anyone left on here soon :rotfl:
Oh rjh, you do make me laugh. You're the only lady I've ever known to wish baby had stayed in breech! Still sending labour vibes your way.
Kitten - glad everything is going ok with the monitoring.
VK 2008 - I don't know much about symptoms etc, but I have always had negative results even when pregnant if I've had more than one glass of drink before taking the test. Good luck!
I've got to sort my daughter's bedroom today, since she swapped rooms with her brother she's been living in the middle of a giant mess. Apart from that we haven't got much planned for the bank holiday.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
Thanks for that advice on the iron Aimless - after looking online I was a bit worried about the natural third stage not being able to happen due to blood loss, as I wanted my birth experience to be as natural as possible. It's good to hear that this could still be the case. Have got my prescription for ferrous gluconate now too, so hopefully my tummy will be able to tolerate that better than the sulphate version.
Realised when I got home that the midwife forgot to do the MRSA nose swab that was meant to be done at 36 weeks. Moon thinks it should be ok to do next appointment, but not sure if I should contact the midwife to let her know. Is this a routine test done everywhere, or is it just in the south?Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -

Glad he hasn't come out sunroof exit but on other hand I'm not getting the birth I want now and the idea of being induced on a four bay ward does not appeal at all lol.
