lol, don't worry about it, I'm rubbish with times, dates, places, appointments at the minute. I keep thinking it's different times of the month to what it is too lol xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I've just had a thought...I am nearly 26 weeks, as it's my 2nd don't see mw until 28 - just assumed that she would tell me about classes, but she doesn't seem that on the ball to be honest. Should I be booking myself in?I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

We had to book ourselves in - as we had just moved, we missed the june start date ones and there were none locally in july, so my first nhs one will be 1st August when I am 37 weeks, then 8th then 15th with a breastfeeding workshop the 14th at the hospital - and my due date is the 22nd august!!! let's play race the nhs is it?!!
I think I am getting braxton hicks but only this week as my stomach feels so tight - but then sometimes it has been wind?! so maybe I am not!
Sooo hungry and have been working instead of eating and tidying the house, oops! Who would like to feed me please, nothing good in this house?! xx

It appears that I lurked through the entire 24th thread (which I enjoyed reading a lot) and now I have my baby (born on Monday, 7lb 2) I wanted to post!
I did Hypnobirthing which I can't recommend highly enough. Even though I wasn't certain it was going to work it meant that I had a really positive outlook and slept really well during my whole pregnancy. Plus, it did work! No pain relief, no stitches, no tears and I am still riding the high now!
As this is an MSE thread I thought I'd say the money was well spent (and you only get one chance to give birth to each baby!) but here are several other (free and less expensive) things which I found helpful:
Perineal massage - do it! What have you got to lose except a few table spoons of olive oil! (It's great being able to sit down and go to the loo without fear.)
Eat and drink a lot - I took Lucosade, chocolate biscuits, dried fruit and Kendal mint cake which turned out to be marvellous as I didn't feel like chewing. Don't not eat because you might poo! If you get dehydrated or have ketones in your wee they might put you on a drip :-( I also froze some bottled water which was great with a flannel wrapped around it for cooling my head and then, once defrosted, great to drink!
Clothes - plain vest/babygro and muslin wrapped over the top everyday so far - my mum did say that I ought to save for when the little mite needs shoes (nobody gifts you shoes)!
Hope that is helpful, going for a nap now as little one has finished feeding (oh yes, and it did feel excruciating on the nipples, especially at first but you get through that bit!)
(Returns back to lurkdom!)

Taadaa - my notes had a form in which I handed in at the antenatal clinic when I went for my scan, however I know my notes are very different to everyone elses for some reason so not sure if that's normal.
Mrs Student - they do seem to be leaving your classes quite late don't they. Thank you for mentioning the breastfeeding thing though as we have a place called bosom buddies locally who are a breastfeeding support group who I meant to contact.
Also reminded me i need to ring Mothercare tomorrow to book in for their mums event thing next month, I don't need to buy anything but thought it might be worth going as they have a few midwives and baby massage groups going so could be worth it for the info.
Oog - congratulations on your little bundlethanks for the tips I'm really wanting to try hypnobirthing, am waiting for some amazon vouchers to come through from a survey site and then I will be ordering a book and CD. Great tip on kendal mint cake too - I love that stuff anyway. As for shoes, bubs has 8 pairs already lol.....oops x

Bought these for Mini Mouse (our nickname for baby as my nickname is "Mouse", so baby is, in effect, Mini Mouse.
).
I am ashamed to say that this is the first thing we have bought for baby.I wanted to wait until my 20 week scan as I'm scared something might go wrong. The scan is next week and we're hoping to find out the gender but thought we'd buy something gender-neutral for the meantime.

Thats so cute LadyM
Ive not even thought about antenatal classes. I would want to go around 28/30 weeks if poss as we dont know how early these babies will be. Ive read lots of stories about twins arriving 34wks etc so want to make sure I learn something before then!
Ikkle whats the Mothercare mums event? Feel like Im missing out on something here! And you sound amazingly organised
Ive been getting tightenings every now and again in my bump for a few weeks and it kind of sticks out more while its doing it, but just assumed it was babies moving into a different position. Is there any way to know for sure or does it really matter anyway?:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -

Oog - thanks for your positive birth post (we dont get many of these) i have only just started listening to my hypnotherapy birthing CD - its 38 mins long and i do go totally off to sleep - only come back round when she is counting you back in. i think its really important to go into birth without fear and i think this will help. i am 38 weeks tomorrow so have left it a little late to start, but better late then never. congratulations on your baby
i started NHS antenatal classes at 34 weeks, was a bit worried about it being late in the game, so if you ladies are concerned get booked on - i had to do this via my midwife.
me and DH took a practice run to the hospital today - even though its a 10 min drive away lol just to work out best place to park etc went in and chatted with lady on main reception (the would not let you go up to the mat unit reception because of security). it was handy to know that main doors are shut between 10pm and 8am and you have to buzz to get it. feel more comfortable about exactly where we will be going when things start to happen.
already had my sister asking me if i had had any pains yet errmm no! with her first baby she was 3 and a half weeks early.
first official day of mat leave tomorrow, going for a swim in the morning, will do some cleaning, attend daisy birthing class and rest up inbetween. cant wait!!!
