Got my GTT on Weds morning. Has anyone else had one? How did you feel after, shall I plan to work at home/take afternoon off?

I've had two so far, you can't eat from midnight then you have one set of bloods taken drink a drink and then wait 2 hours and have another set of bloods taken. I didn't feel any different afterwards just made sure my first port of call was something to eat afterwards and then went about my day as normal.

It's basically just a blood test but with an nhs equivalent of lucozade thrown in and a lack of breakfast. x

    Hey ladies,

Just popping over from the newborn thread.

I have just done my little ladies Nursery and have a clown mobile going free if anybody would like it (for free, not selling it!) I bought it months ago and then decided I wanted a butterfly themed room so it doesn't match! It would be suitable for a boy or girl as it has blue, pink, green etc! I bought it before I had my Daughter and I didn't know what I was having so its very much unisex! Its wooden, hand painted and very sweet!

PM if you are interested and I'll post it out.

    xx

bikeless, remember to check both your own travel insurance for how late they'll let you travel as well as the specific airline's regulations. I'd also make sure to email them beforehand and check if they want a "fit to fly" like Ikkle said or whether your maternity notes will be sufficient. I'm off to France on the (slow) ferry at just over 28 weeks and the ferry company won't take you on the fast ferry if you are over 28 weeks or the slow ferry if you are over 32, and I don't want to get into a battle with the check-in staff. for my ferry trip they've confirmed my notes will be sufficient. Last thing you want is for the airline checkin desk to decide you look more than whatever their limit is pregnant and deny you boarding. Also fit to fly forms are only valid for a certain time after issue, my midwife told me this week of a case she'd had where the lady flew out with a fit to fly and flew back 3 weeks later, but they refused to let her on the plane to come back as it was 3 weeks after the form so she had to find a doctor over there to sign another fit to fly!!

    Evening all!

Mmmhmm to the courgette cake scottishchick - I've not made one since last summer and they are gorgeous too! I think the recipe I use came from someone on MSE too. I printed it off in case it got lost in the ether. Yes here it is for anyone who is curious. It really is one of the most moist cakes I've ever made (probably because it has a high water content from the apple and courgette) and doesn't taste anything like courgettes. Really want some now!

LittleMoog it may be worth taking a snack such as digestive biscuits or similar with you as well as a bottle of water for after your GTT. I am normally fine with blood tests (although I'm phobic of needles and obviously get anxious about having them, I never usually faint), but this time I nearly fainted (think it may be the fasting to blame), and even though Moon took me to eat at the canteen afterwards, I felt sick for the rest of the day. My glucose results came back normal though, so haven't had to repeat the test.

Bought Raspberry Leaf Tea in Tesco this afternoon when we did the food shop (haven't had any yet, but may do when it cools down a bit more). I've also been kindly offered some by someone on freecycle as I posted a wanted ad for some. We also bought Moon a new toothbrush and a couple of packets of toothpaste to go in the hospital bags so that we don't have to take the electric toothbrushes with us.

Well I'm off to have a nosy on facebook for a little bit and then I think I'm going to have a shower to cool myself down - It's far too hot today!

Hugs to all who need or want them and labour vibes where appropriate.

  • Evening!
Can't believe it's this late! I've overdone the painting. Had a bit of an emotional wobbly where I just cried that I should be washing baby grows and making it look pretty at this stage. Threw OH and his dad out so I could gloss the woodwork. Stupid me, almost finished before I fell on the floor and got stuck. Anyway OH carried me to bed and finished tutting at my stubborn stupid ness. Needless to say I can barely move. I really want a bath but OH is worried he won't be able to lift me out :o But nursery is looking half decent :)

Sexymouse hope you've calmed down a bit after your hectic trip.
Lady M glad you sorted out your benefits etc. I know there's a lot of paperwork involved. Good to see you :)

Hopefully everyone has a relaxing evening. Lucky we've got leftover fish pie so just have to microwave it :)

Oh my gosh ferrety how exciting! Best of luck! Make sure you keep us updated. Eek the first September due baby is on its way!

Littlemoog I had the GTT and ended up taking the afternoon off. Could've struggled in to work after but the lack of food had made me sick so I took advantage of an afternoons rest.
