Oh Moneypuddle, that is horrible to just leave you in the lurch like that. They will probably discuss the options with you.
I believe Group B Strep can come and go throughout pregnancy so by testing everyone at a certain date a lot will not have it during labour and antibiotics themselves can cause issues if not needed (although couldn't tell you what as staying away from google) I think there are a few groups out there trying to make it compulsory.
As long as they are aware of it when you do go into labour you will be fitted to a drip to ensure that you don't pass it on.
I don't know a huge amount about it but there was a discussion on here a few days ago hopefully someone will be able to give more accurate advise to help.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Just a question for ladies who may know. Since 6 this morning I have been getting strong BH they last about 30-60 seconds and are coming every 10-15 minutes. They aren't getting more frequent or painful.
Everything else seems fine and they aren't painful, have spoken to my midwife who has advised me to see how they go and if still have them tomorrow to go in and get checked.
Just wondered if anyone has had anything similar, not overly worried just curious - have had BH for months and get them quite often but not this often or as frequent. Especially not where I have been able to time them for over 12 hours
Be careful, BH shouldnt be at regular intervals and like me you are more susceptible (sp?) to premature labour as you gave birth such a short time ago,
I had exactly the same thing last week, mine were painful though and i could feel they were building up slightly. I had a sleep and went in for monitoring in the morning as they were still regular. They examined me to confirm i wasnt dilating, which is the main thing. Mine were put down to irritable uterus, although the consultant doesnt agree with midwife who said it was due to diarrhoea.
if you have no pain with them its less of a concern (apparently) I was advised to drink more as that can stop them, lie on left side and try sleeping,
hope they ease off !Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
Kitten that's what I've been having too. Tho mine were every six minutes so I thought I was in labour lol. Nope. I'd you worried go get checked but I'm sure everything fine. Mine take nations as o when thu reappear now lol.
I'm having loads a cervix pain tonight. Baby very active and feel like he's tryin to poke his way down. Ouchielove you lots like jelly tots0 -
Thanks kitten_pie. I just feel like its such a huge kick. The antibiotics needs to be in your system for 4 hours before the baby comes into contact with the birth canal, so its a case of getting to the hospital asap by the sounds of it.
Without antibiotics, chance of baby getting it = 1 in 211
With antibiotics, chance of baby getting it = 1 in 4,000

Good morning all!
Woke up for a wee and now got nasty heartburn. Just eaten and waiting for that and the ranitidine to work so thought I'd catch up with everyone
Well yday was a productive day! Have painted the nursery with first coat and some second coat in places. Going this morning hopefully to see of we can find a border we like too. Will phone BIL to order the carpet later today too incase OH changes his mind.
MMM lol at your OH. Already OH and his dad are talking about the next big job. I'm like I've just got you two in the nursery so let's just concentrate on that. Also given away or ebayed so much in the past few weeks. Still feel I've tons of stuff in my house. Felt good to have a clear out at the same time though. Got another box for the charity in progress too atm.
Dizzi great to hear you're both doing so well. I get a bit confused by the adjusted age, but sounds like she's doing really well. I think your story must be the worst I've ever heard. Did the counselling help? I read it was in the same place near the NICU, stupid people. your community midwife sounded lovely, hopefully you'll have a much better experience this timeand I'd forgotten about your mad dog! Is it a greyhound? Lovely he's so fond of Erin.
Twinkle hugs for feeling rotten. Hope you're feeling better today. Should be plenty of time to get the bits you need. Hope OH finds work soon too.
Mishka lol at your hubby!
Twinklie that meteor shower sounds very romantic. Enjoy your tour of the labour ward. When I went I checked for if they have fans in the rooms (many people have said to take one in, but here they're in rooms), if they have cd player/iPod docking things, kitchen for dads (well mainly for hot water, might treat OH to a pot noodle) and visiting times. I'm sure you already have your list of things.
Kitten hope the BH have gone. Sorry I have no clue. I don't seem to have any, well if I have I've not noticed which is possible with me!
Money puddle try not to worry hun, I replied on fb before coming on here.
I wonder how Jedi is getting on?
Re:sleeping I'm trying as rest/sleep as much as possible. I think some people think I'm taking the mickey a bit. But having heard from you guys that have just had babies or had babies in the past I'm taking your advice
I don't think any hospital wards are good for sleeping. There's always a loud inconsiderate person, snorer or where I used to work an elderly confused person that shouted all night about random things or having conversations with people who weren't there. Which is why it baffles me when MIL is puzzles why I'm desperate to get home to my own bed when I can sleep lots at the hospital :-S
I'd better try and get back to sleep got a busy day ahead!
Sending big labour vibes to the boldies and those wanting them. Hugs to those who need them xxx:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Morning all! not quite as early a start as yesterday but i am awake though still tired. Both cats are trying jedi mind tricks on me as they are sat nearby staring intently in my direction, willing me to feed them. Bless em, feel bit better about how they might be with the baby after reading posts above.
LMM/KatyLiz glad to know my OH is not the only one with a short attention span! He is great really and has worked hard on the house, so I shouldn't complain too much but it would be lovely to have a couple of completed rooms instead of five half done ones! LOL. Think my parents are coming rounf today so I am sure that they will give us a hand with a few bits and pieces. I ended up taking the carpet off the stairs yesterday which left me feeling very tired by the end of it. It does look miles better already though.
Moneypuddle hugs hun, I can understand why you are worried but I am sure once you speak to your midwife she will explain everything to you. At least they know about it and can do something about it. My friend told me about it very early on in my pregnancy and told me to get tested but I haven't done as yet as like others have said it can come at any point in pregnancy. May ask my midwife about it at my next appt though.
Twinkle hugs to you; hope your OH finds something soon. Keep your chin up chick, I know it is easier said than done but try and stay positive and I am sure you will find that things will all work out.
RJH I am going to have to try harder with my labour vibes for yuo, lol! Hope you are not getting too frustrated!
Dizzi congrats to you! Can't believe you are going through it all again so soon!0 -
LMM - are you posting nursery pics once you've finished? I love having a look at everyone's nurseries.
moneypuddle - I think that's awful that they left you without an explanation. But as others have said try not to worry too much (easier said then done, I know), as there is still time for it to go back to negative before baby comes. Hope you get proper information soon.
twinkle - hugs, hope your DH finds a job soon. I don't blame you for wanting a rant, sounds like you're having a horrid time at the moment.
rjh - hope that baby comes soon. I keep thinking you've gone in to have baby, then remember it was all nothing. I'm sure it'll happen soon though.
Re labour wards - oh yes, they are awful. What I found strangest was the woman that insisted all the windows were shut in case her baby felt the breeze. This was end of June in a blazing hot summer and effectively turned the room into an airless sauna for everyone else, which made it impossible to sleep. She also let her partner onto the ward in the middle of the night as she was lonely, and it woke every woman in the place up as he was loudly evicted amidst much protest!
Got to get on with making my son's room liveable today as the kids will be back at teatime. Can't get it finished as the flatpack and accessory bits we bought are still in the boot of the car 50 miles away where it broke down. Poor little man won't be happy as he was expecting a lovely finished bedroom when he got back. I think I'll make him a cake to cheer him up instead.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
No no baby yet.
Oh is off for next three days as he was meant to go For his interview but he's decided not to risk it just in case So looks like tr interviewees are goin fto come here for him
Which is good.
Woke up to the glorious sound of rain today. Still
Quite warm but a bit of a breeze now.
Appreciate the labour vibes even tho they not doing anything lol. Thre days till due date. My foo is really sore. Feels all swollen and pressuredhow u doing kitten?
Who was making cake? Can I have some please? I normally hate cake but baby loves itlove you lots like jelly tots0 -
Morning all!
Hugs for moneypuddle and Twinkle - I hope that both of your respective upsets sort themselves out quickly. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you now they're not swollen.
Well I'm quite impressed with myself even if I do say it myself - I'm 34 weeks today and haven't been able to see my feet without bending for at least a month, and they've been swelling to elephant-sized most days recently - last night, despite them being in their hephalump state, I managed to paint my toenails to go with my dress for the Christening today. :jWe were given a footstool that matched the sofa and armchair that my Nana has given us, and I put a plastic bag on top (in case of spills), and then stood up and bent over to do each foot with my foot on top of it. Seemed to work well, but don't think I'm going to be in a hurry to take it all off again - will probably leave them to grow out as my nails are growing really slowly now anyway (were growing fast for most of the pregnancy but now baby is sapping my vitamins).
I'm off to eat breakfast then shower and change, and hopefully we'll have time to put the nursery wall stickers up this morning before we go.
Hugs and labour vibes where appropriate.

SM - congrats on painting your toenails! Keep meaning to get DH to do mine for me but I keep forgetting. He's good at things like that, he even plucks my eyebrows for me, which is a bit of a strange sight for a 6ft 2 huge rugby player :rotfl:
Labour wards - meant to ask the mw if there is any chance of a private room. Im not expecting much sleep anyway having to feed 2 babies but a room to ourselves would be so nice, as well as a miracle by the sounds of it!
Twinkle - hope your DH finds something soon
Welcome to Dizzi and Brunette (and anyone else Ive missed)
LMM - sounds like you're at the same stage with the nursery that we are at the moment. DH did the 2nd coat on most of the walls yesterday, was quite thin emulsion though so looks like it might need a 3rd. We have the carpet ready but not the underlay yet so need to get that sorted
As for DH completing jobs, he's been at this nursery for about a month now, and halfway through that he decided to paint the living room wall. Just an undercoat though so now we have 2 half done rooms :rotfl:
Moneypuddle - hugs for the results, I asked about it on here the other day but dont really know a great deal about it. Hope the MW pulls her finger out and discusses it in depth with you and puts your mind at rest
Kitten - hope the BH ease off. Dont really know about them either and no idea if I have had them!
Fishcake - hope you're getting baby cuddles
Re cats - we have 2 and they arent allowed in bedrooms so of course they try their hardest to sneak in. I know they will definitely try and snuggle upto the babies so might invest in some of the nets for the moses baskets while theyre downstairs. They also like to scratch anything wicker / basket-like so will have a spray bottle at the ready, it worked when they kept trying to scratch our leather suite. Just water in it of course but they hate it!
Baby baths - we dont have a bath, just a shower so got one off ebay. A bundle of things inc the bath for about £5. Just love a bargain!
Gemma - hope labour is progressing for you
AFM - had quite a few kicks last night :T. Typical eh?! Glad I went and got checked though. Kept bursting out crying with the worrying so at least it put my mind at rest.
The Mothercare event wasnt too bad on Thursday. Got some bargains anyway, there was a reduced bucket on the floor and we found 2 cot duvet & pillowcase sets £4.50 each, a pair of curtains £6, a nappy stacker £2.50, and a lightshade £1.50. Also got measured for a bra, which Im not too impressed with now Im wearing it, doesnt seem the right fit to me. And got a bump support belt thing
Labour vibes to all who need them, especially rjh xx:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0
