Even when I try to sleep I don't I lay in bed for ages but still struggle to get 2 maybe 3 hours a night if I'm lucky. I can't nap at home the only place I ever seem to nap through the day is at my grans. Like yesterday I'd been up since half 2 because that's when our wages go in and I always stress about them on the night before payday as they are known to go wrong. Laid in bed for ages, read, looked at stuff on my phone, watched Netflix. Got up and went out for the day with OH and walked miles, pushed myself too much and thought oh well at least I will sleep well tonight. Wrong. I was awake after just over an hour because of being in pain etc.
LMM luckily I was only sick a couple of times this morning, wasn't impressed though that OH was the one drinking alcohol last night when I was on soft drinks and yet I'm the one who ended up chucking up at the side of the bloody road this morning. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

CANNOT ECHO THIS ENOUGH!!And you will not sleep in hospital. The first night your baby will constantly feed to demand your body to make more milk and let it know what it needs to supply you.fluffnutter wrote: »I know you all know this already... but please try to rest as much as you can before your baby's born. I'm a bit of an insomniac and thought I'd be prepared for sleepless nights and feeling tired but nothing prepares you for the first few days.
I had no sleep on the Wednesday or Thursday night before Freddie was born on Friday morning, plus I lost quite a bit of blood during the c-section and ate very little for 2 or 3 days. I can't begin to describe how tired I felt for the first two weeks of Freddie's life. I would literally fall asleep standing with my eyes open. It was hazardous at times if I was holding the baby

Or you will not sleep in the hospital because of the silly witch across the room from you using their phone ALL night to tell people of her premature baby ordeal (baby was 3 days early) and then of every single individual breastfeed progress and nappy change ALL night... and she must have rung about 6 friends every single time.
Oh how I wanted to stab her brutally with a breastpump (didn't have anything sharp and pointy to hand and by that point I'd been in hellhole hospital for a fortnight with a PROPER premature baby)!
Maternity wards = proof positive that sharing a due date with people does not automatically make you want to be lifetime chums!
Oh and we had the poor woman whose husband rolled up at 8am in the morning (right at the start of "daddy" visiting times) with their toddler and dumped it on the woman who'd just given birth to babysit while he vanished off out for the day!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
The maternity wards are pretty dire, unless you can get a private room. Last time I was admitted the woman opposite spent all night ringing people telling them she had chlamydia. What a thing to brag about. Nothing as bad as your ordeal though dizzi, I do hope everything goes smoothly for you this time xxYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I can't go to sleep for another 3 hours. I have a late night date to sit and watch the skies with DH for the meteor shower that's due tonight. I've nothing on tomorrow though except from a tour of the labour ward so should be ok.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Just a question for ladies who may know. Since 6 this morning I have been getting strong BH they last about 30-60 seconds and are coming every 10-15 minutes. They aren't getting more frequent or painful.
Everything else seems fine and they aren't painful, have spoken to my midwife who has advised me to see how they go and if still have them tomorrow to go in and get checked.
Just wondered if anyone has had anything similar, not overly worried just curious - have had BH for months and get them quite often but not this often or as frequent. Especially not where I have been able to time them for over 12 hours :cool:Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Well this has been the most awful week. I had a swab done on Monday thinking I had thrush, called for my results on Wed and was told by a receptionist that I had Group B Strep. No more info, but 'someone' would call me to dicuss. Of course I went home and googled it straight away and I'm so confused. Apparently 25% of women will carry Group B Strep, so ok it sounds pretty common. However everything you read about the effects on a newborn baby is so negative, with most sites saying 10-15% of babies who get it from their mothers during labour will die, and 20% of those that survive will have permanent learning difficulties or cerebral palsy.
I'm so confused as to why this isn't tested for, and if 25% of us will be carriers of GBS, how it is not more known about?? The treatment is to have IV antibiotics as soon as you go into labour. Four hours is this prior to the baby coming into contact with the birth canal reduces the baby's risk of getting GBS too. I have another test on Thursday this week at the Ante-natal Clinic. Actually the worst week or my life. I just dont know what to expect and was so annoyed about the way I was told. Has anyone else been tested?0
