  • Morning all!

Congrats to Mummy's & Daddy's having newborn cuddles! And welcome to the newbies!

I have been awake since about 4am when a very inconsiderate neightbour decided our street was actually Silverstone and he made as much noise as humanly possible on his penis-compensating motorbike. Couldn't get back to sleep so decided to get up and go and do the shopping at Asda. OH got up when I came back but sat there being useless whilst I put shopping away, washed up and then made breakfast! He's now playing Xbox Olympics; meanwhile the house is still upside down cos we still have lots left to finish off (none of which I can do on my own cos it involces lifting and carrying stuff) and I am getting very frustrated and anxious cos we only have four and a half weeks to due date! Sorry, don't mean to be negative, just tired and trying not to get stressed out. Just wanted the house to be finished at this stage so that i could take things a bit more easy.

LO is having some good stretches but the sensation has changed now as he doesn't have as much room to move around. Next midwife appt is a week on Tuesday so I'm hoping that he will still be head down at that stage! OH is on at me to pack my bag this weekend as well so I guess we'll be trying to fit that activity in! Bought some dispoable pants from Asda this am and will go to boots later for cotton wool and other bits and pieces. May leave it til late afternoon though as can't be doing with town when it's rammed!

Got a wedding to go to next Sunday; neither OH nor I really want to go! I know that sounds awful but we are just so busy with trying to get everything sorted and we are generally shattered at the weekends. At the moment I just want to hide away from the world and be comfy on my sofa - is that so bad? We will prob make the effort and go to the ceremony but don't think we'll be stopping long after that!

Re names - can't remember who made the comment about L-l-l-l-lola and eastenders but I am in agreement with you! Lexi was my favourite name until Lola named her baby that! There'll be a whole load of Lexi's now and Jessica's too after the Olympics. We've still not decided on final names for a girl, but I am hoping OH is not going to change his mind on the biys names we've picked!

Anyway, off to tackle the house and try and get it sorted out. Hugs to all, labour vibes to all that want and need them (RJH I'm sending double vibes out to you!). Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

BTW isn't it quiet without Rups?

    Congrats MrsExcited and dizzy!

I hadn't moved down the list for ages and now I'm 47! Blimey! I'm glad there are 46 before me though as I'm nowhere near ready.

I'm working on my hospital bag now. I pretty much know what I'm getting so it's just a question of buying it.

Re: baths. I've had quite a few people telling me not to bother with a baby bath, just use a normal bath and some sort of supporting mat/sponge. I just wanted a cheap one but they all seem to be over £10! What are you doing?

Not a very exciting day ahead I'm afraid. I have to go food shopping so will stop by the shops to have a browse but that's all we have planned for today. I know it sounds boring but I'm not bothered as I'm tired all the time anyway so I'm happy to stay at home and chill in the garden. Although I may do some studying too.

Oh! Ended up there are no other mothercare events near me :( I should have checked before not going! Nevermind.

    Morning

Congratulations MrsExcited :) and to ikkle's friend too.

Yesterday did not help my stress levels. Decided to quickly pop to Ikea to get son a new chest of drawers. Drove there no problems, got back in the car to leave and the gear box had gone. We rang the RAC at 5.14pm, they arrived at 9.39pm. I was not impressed! We finally got towed to a garage who gave us a courtesy car, so got home after midnight. Definitely didn't turn out to be the quick trip we were hoping for, and we have no money to pay for the repair :(

I agree it's quiet without Rups, hope she's having a good time.

Is anyone else bruising badly at the moment? I walked into the furniture in the pitch dark, and this morning I have the biggest bruise I've ever seen. It's more colourful than normal too. I seem to be covered in bruises lately where my mobility and balance are off from normal.

bikeless chick - I've always just used a foam sponge support for my kids. They used to only be £3, but I'll probably have a shock when I go shopping this time round and find they are now loads more expensive!!

Re. Baby baths - I too had heard not to bother because 'you'll only end up finding it easier to get in with them'... then the in-laws went MENTAL on buying baby stuff (I wasn't impressed, seeing as I wasn't even 12 weeks at the time!) and bought one. Bearing in mind, we live in a one bedroom flat with VERY little storage space!!

Despite the fact that I am already ridiculously hot here (it's got to be ice lolly time soon, right?!) I slept AMAZINGLY last night. I didn't even get up to wee or anything :j:T:rotfl:

For anyone who wants to try reusable nappies and wants to buy a few different brands, Tesco are selling Tots Bots Easy Fits for half price :) so £7.50 a nappy. Only the Starburst and Flower Power print and in store only, but a brilliant bargain :) xx

R.e Baby Baths, I have used mine almost every day for the past 6 months, we do a routine of bath every night, he doesn't always get a full wash, just a quick dip. It's so much easier to fill a little bath, than fill the big bath with enough water so they're not cold. I think with the baths it's a love/hate thing, people either seem to love them and use them loads, or hate them and never use them. I just keep ours in the big bath and take it out when I need to shower/bathe.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.
