I've had mine packed since 32 weeks but that's because we have been doing a fair bit of traveling at weekends so I wanted to have it just in case.

    xx

Yeah, I'm going away next weekend to my friends wedding. So I was thinking I better sort it to take with me. I think 35+3 is late enough to leave it really for my own piece of mind.

I've made a list of everything to go into it. Then will write out a new list of everything that IS in it....just because I'm anal. Ha ha.

I've just bought three different styles online so I can try them all out and return the two I don't like so much.
A friend of mine made one herself (she's handy that way!) which went over one shoulder and baby could lie horizontally and (for instance) breastfeed. I don't know if there are any of those available generally - I've not checked - anyone know?
  • Cake4brains - No... I'm not. I'm in NI. I'm glad I'm not the only one having a baby shower.

LMM - you need to be quick if you're having a shower;)! I can't remember when you're due but I'm pretty sure it's before me! (I'm 19th Oct).

Walby - I hope you had a lovely time on your hols. As for your questiob, it's not unusual. Have you been doing your pelvic floor exercises?

ferrety- I'm glad mw appt went well.

KatyLiz- sorry the appointment didn't go well. Hopefully the mw will be able to give you some more info and reassurance.

    rjh - good luck!

twinklie - I've made a list of what I need and that's about it so far (I'm 29+6). I'm going to start buying now - getting some maternity pads tonight at mothercare event:o.

How many mat pads are people buying?? I don't want to end up having too many, would rather have to send DH to get some if I need more so I'm thinking about the bare minimum for a few days/one week?

  • I knew there was something else I was meant to write!

Walby - I've been told by mw that we shouldn't have too much discharge until later on in the pregnancy. If I were you, I'd probably wear panty liners for a few days to see if it is really discharge. If it is, then it may be worth speaking to your mw. Either way, get the pelvic floor exercises going ;)

I think they say 2-3 packs depending on how long you are in hospital for. I have about 8 packs as I bought 2 then someone gave my another 6

Yeah the come in 10s. An NHS video I watched about hospital bags (very exciting btw ;)) said about 24 pads so I've chucked in three packs. I think mine are mostly tesco ones. The thicker ones are best as they are apparently more comfortable if you are sore or have had stitches and also the mws prefer them as they need to look to see how much you are losing and it's easier for them to judge with those.

  • Bikeless yes I'm due 13th September so that's why I thought a BBQ kinda thing. Should prob just say a day and invite people.
I've got about 8-10 packs of 10 maternity pads, the thick ones. Mainly boots I think as someone recommended them and they were/are in their 3 for 2. I know some are asda which someone said also were good. I'm sure both were recommended by ladies with stitches. I've been told by a couple of people that Mothercare ones can be quite rough if you're sore or have stitches so I've avoided them. I guess everyone is different. I too have three packs of them for hospital as I heard about 24 are needed for a short stay.

    Productive day so far.
    1. Washing hung out (who knew how much washing babies create when they aren't even born yet!)
    2. Hospital bag list for baby and me has been created and finalised.
    3. Tens machine has been ordered and will be dispatched any day.
    4. Baby is signed up for swiming lessons - which I'm very excited about.
    5. Bathroom clean up is underway - having a break though because I started swelling (Canckles anyone).
    6. Next lot of washing is ready to go in.
    7. Kitchen wiped down and tidy.

I also have 3 packs for the hospital. I think I've only got 4 packs total so far though - DH can go and get me more as I need them.

Stupid question - how many breast pads do we take to hospital?
