LMM, it's horrible when visitors go home isn't it. I always feel flat when they've left.
The hospital visit went well, we got to see one of the pool rooms, one room on the labour unit (the more medicalised one) and one on the birthing unit (the midwife led one). They all looked good as they had a re model of the labour unit and the birthing unit was built all just last year. The birthing unit only has one room with a traditional hospital bed. The others all have chairs, some bars on the wall (for if you want to squat to labour), birthing balls and a bath or shower. They do have double beds that fold up in the wall but they are used for after the birth. If you are only staying overnight then partners can stay with you. We also saw the postnatal ward which seemed ok too.
One thing I did learn about water births was that you can labour with the bath at any temperature you find comfortable but for the actual birth the temperature of the water has to be between 36-37 degrees centigrade. This is so once the head is born the baby still thinks it is in the womb and doesn't try to take a breath while under water.

Ooh that's interesting to know about the water temperatures emsbet. Looking forward to our active water birth class next week (12th). It is combined with a tour around the birth centre etc like yours is. Dads also have the opportunity to stay overnight in our hospital if you are, and they have special reclinable chairs next to the beds for this purpose. Have put that I'd like to use this facility on my birth plan just in case they try to send Moon home. Our hospital are trying to achieve a special award to show they are family friendly or something similar (I forget the official name) and letting Dads stay is part of that.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Oh god what a carp day. Took car to garage. Window wipers broke. Thought would be electrical but no need new motor. They need to find one second hand to make it affordable so might take a week to fix. Which means me and four year old have no transport until its fixed. Im not able to walk far ATM cos I so uncomfortable and dd has mobility problems so ah can only walk short distances. Never mind the fact that it's gonna cost me about £140 that I don't have. I jut spet the morning sorting out finances to be able to pay rent this month. Ita ridiculous I don't know how people are meant to cope with no income. I hate the benefits system in this country. I worked hard since I was 16 and finally need a bit of help and get fck all. Rant over. Very tired ad stressed right now. No car also means no getting mum from airport when I do go into labour and £16 return taxi if I need to go to hospital.love you lots like jelly tots0

We got to see the delivery suite when I was admitted on to it a few weeks ago, as I'm high risk I can't have a water birth so we will end up in one of the rooms which is a bit more medicalised and has the bed, a chair or two, some mats for the floor so you can kneel down etc/squat and then the large inflatable balls which I refuse to sit on but might ask if I can have one to kneel leant against. xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

with DD I didn't want to find out. It may sound a little bit pyscho, but I felt like I didn't want to feel like I had a son or daughter until I was safely holding them. I was afraid if something happened and I lost the baby that it would be too hard to get over if I had named and almost attached a personality to the baby.
We found out for the opposite reason wanted to have stories etc should things go wrong.
It would be too hard to get over whether you know or not but I understand the wanting to protect yourself.
Hope the scans are going well today and everyone is happy with their decisions to find out or not.
Our scan went well, she is doing fine although her tummy is measuring ahead now but our consultant doesn't seem worried so I will not google
Also put together the cot etc, will try and upload a picture later, my phone is out of chargeOverdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Do you not know any lads local who could go to a scrap yard to source one for you hun they would only cost a few quid from there and if you know someone who knows what they are doing they could fit it for you, I'd say do it yourself as it is a simple thing but don't think your in a fit state. Sounds like the garage is charging for a few hours labour with that priceI hope you manage to get it sorted though, if you lived closer to Leeds I'd get my OH to do it for you

Am back lovely ladies and thank you so so much for your support. xxxx you are like my family online. xxx mwah
am back and little bubs is ok thank god! it was quite anti social at first like daddy so had his/her face down so was hard to see anything, so they sent me to the other sonographer who had a better probe, and then by the time i had emptied my bladder, baby had turned. was amazing seeing the organs that had grown and little eyes and ear and legs crossed over at the bottom. lol. she said the baby was shy. anyway then came the bug question! before we went in, i asked hubby if it was ok for me to get it written a piece of paper and he said fine. so when the lady asked i said please write it. so had taken my envelope and when she gave it to me, i said daddy doesnt want to know so she said he should burn it and have a bbq on it. lol. i have the envelope but not tempted to look at all.i felt bad for him as he looked a bit upset that i would find out. stupid man. i am just happy that the baby is healthy.. if i peek i will let you know. hehe
he better not upset me. lol
back now and hungry as ever. hope you all are well. due date is still 24th dec and i am 20 weeks today.xx

Yay for a successful scan Rups, and yay that you can find out if you want to in the future.
Sounds like you were able to see quite a lot - my 20 weeks scan was very blurry, and because of the angle of the monitor, I couldn't see much at all! Was very disappointing. Even Moon couldn't see a lot and he had a better view of the monitor.

thank sexymouse. at first i couldnt make head or tail of what i was looking at and the sonographer had to tell me to use my imagination. i wasnt focusing as was too busy being anxious. stupid me. so when she said look at the eyes i was struggling but DH could see everything, then eventually she pointed out the little stomach, bladder and kidneys (i couldnt see these). then we saw the little thigh bone and the spine, one ear and nose.
wonder who he/she will look like? weird as woman said that baby was antisocial that she still was able to see the sex of the it.
oooh themore i talk about it the more i am tempted. i have done well not to rip the paper up to check. lol. i want to see more andmore of bubbs. right now either its my rumbling belly or lO doing somehting in there. was so funny how he/she faced the other way..
