that dosen't sound nice at all
really put me off the idea now....
It doesn't but it isn't a common occurance, she was just unlucky. They do go through the risks with you before hand. No procedure is without risk, it's just about weighing up the benefits with the risks. I would prefer not to have an epidural. Not because of what happened to my sister but because I would prefer an active birth. But I'm not ruling it out completely and will have one if it becomes necessary.Pethidine on the other hand... never again.
I had pethidine when I had my last mc and I loved it. I ended up singing to DH, which was a bit of comedy in an otherwise horrific day
It's the same with other pain relief such as gas and air, some people get on well with it, others don't. I know both can make some people sick.

Rups – Regarding gender, Yes we are having a little boy and for us it has been right that we found out, we never thought we would but after our 12 week scan we had to know so we found out at the 20 week scan J It has enabled us to buy such lovely things for him and my OH has found it has helped him to bond with bump J what time is your scan?
Bootfairs - I am far too lazy to get up at 7am for bootsales on a Sunday (which there are 100’s of) so we go to the afternoon ones. There is one at Gabriels Farm in Edenbridge (just past Oxted) and one at The Hop Farm in Tonbridge in Kent. They both start at 1pm and are £1 to get in or 50p after 2pm…you get a few Romany & Irish Traveller Gypsies there but they are harmless enough if you keep out of their way.
Missionary – I’m sure it is fine, it just gets uncomfortable later on… we have found the canine variety easier *blushes* now that I have got a bump! It is a shame because I always feel like missionary is the most loving and I love his big shoulders over me for me to hold onto J
Scans – Sometimes good to have a choc bar and fizzy drink an hour before to liven baby up for the scan…that’s what they told me to do. If you drink too much when they push hard it can really hurt L
SM – Sorry you are feeling rough…I can’t shift a headache so I know your pain!
Placenta – Mine is written in my notes on the scan page printout where it gave all the measurements J
Anglo / Indian Names – For something Anglo-Indian how about Layla or Jasmine (for a girl) because they would suit an indian girl but are not very indian sounding? I have no boys suggestions!
Plug – Is this the same as show?? I don’t know what a show is!
Big Asda – There is an Asda on Purley Way but it isn’t very nice in there.:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -

I didn't like how out of control I felt, the whole room was spinning and I was slurring all my words, I didn't like G&A either thoughIt made A really sleepy and I feel that impacted on breast feeding for us, which is the main reason I wouldn't have it again.
Edit: They do go through everything like Emsbet says, 1 in 10 epidurals won't take or will only take partially and then 1 in 100 I think it is could be left with nerve damage or something similar. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

It just goes to show how everyone is different. I liked that it took the edge of the pain but that I could still feel something as I wanted to be aware of it happening (as weird as that sounds)

I had an epidural with my first (they make you if you have to be induced on a drip) and the person who did it faffed it up the first time and inserted the needle incorrectly - cue me shouting out in mega pain - he had a 2nd go and all was fine however it gave me a great deal of pain for months afterwards, years later and i can still feel the point at which he stabbed me and now with the added pressure of baby it throbs some days !
During the labour I could feel nothing so had to be told when to push, I also had a rather embarrassing moment when someone in the room made a disgusting loud *noise*to which I snapped "which dirty person did that and didnt apologise" only to be told it was in fact me  Never lived that one down :rotfl:

I was talked into pethidine when I didn't want it, so maybe that affected how I feel about it? They came round in the morning and gave me another one, when my OH said I was already so groggy I didn't know my bum from my elbow. He protested and they said "oh it'l help her get a sleep" which it did not. I was attempting to get off the bed and everything through my contractions, and they had tried to send my OH home, they just left me on my own, I dread to think what could have happened if he wasn't there. I walked smack bang into a wall trying to go to the toilet:rotfl:
