While I remember, for those wanting a bikini for a water birth. I bought a maternity costume which being a one piece is obviously not suitable for a water birth. I didn't want to pay for more maternity swimwear so I have found an old vest top to wear and the bought a bikini top to wear underneath. I didn't bother buying any bottoms as I didn't see the point. Anyway the point of my post is I got the bikini top from ASDA yesterday for £2.50! I think the bottoms were also £2.50 and they had lots of colours and also various stripey ones too. Thought it might be useful for someone.

The mucous plug is just that, a plug of mucous in your cervix which comes away when your cervix starts to enlargen/dilate.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I watched that midwife program last night. I used to love OBEM before I was pg - watching it last night being pg made me think OMG - I'm actually going to have to go through that!! Think it's quite educational in a way. Watched it with DH as well (under much sufference on his part) but I think it's quite good for him to see what can happen.
I find it quite soothing to know that no matter what happens at the time they all end up with a healthy baby out the other end, but I think it depends on your view of these things. I asked hubby yesterday whether he wants to know all that can happen in advance or if it'd just make him more nervous (he didn't like either option much but I think we went for ignorance is bliss!). I think I'll only tell him the important things I want/don't want so he can fight my corner if I'm unable to, rather than listing all the things that can go wrong in advance! I think watching OBEM has made me realise as well that no matter what you think you want, when things get going they may not go according to plan as it might hurt too much (there goes nice calm waterbirth with no pain relief!) or because there is something 'wrong' which means you're not going to be able to push the baby out the way you wanted, so you need to be a bit flexible about these things even if you have a wishlist.0 -
Rups, they should put the locations of the placenta in your notes with the results of you scan.
Toni, it maybe that your friend's epidural was put in too high up. My sister still suffers from a bad back after her first 6 years ago, she said they put it in wrong initially and had to take it out and do it again :undecided.

that dosen't sound nice at allreally put me off the idea now....

Clarissa. Congratulation:js :j:j
Gemma. Happy birthday for yesterday and Happy Anniversery for today:D
Moneypuddle I love your nursery. You can tell you spent ages to sort it out. Everything looks really nice and I'm sure your little one will be very happy and confortable. Oh and Happy B-Day for yesterday.
rjh090384 You still have few day to go until your EDD. Why are are you waiting to go in labor early than that? Hope you'll give birth soon.
Rups Good luck today! I'm really nervous for you but I'm sure everything will be OK.
So sorry to hear about your argument with your OH . To be honest he is a little bit inconsiderant and also booking a small break without letting you know:eek:?!?!? I find the gesture a little bit selfish IMO.
How you've managed to book your NHS classes already? My MW said that she will let me know about these classes at 28 weeks appointment.
Jen thank you for posting your birth story. Is the epidural that effective? I hear ladies saying that that method is really good, but do you still feel pain? I would love not to feel anything during the labor especially the last bit...
Congratulation for your little girl :j.
The epidural went in at 11am and was great no feeling to start with but as afternoon went on I was feeling the contractions on my left lower abdomen ... Midwife topped it up but it wore off again by 5pm, so anaesthetist had to come back and give me some stronger stuff but again this only lasted a couple of hours before i was feeling contractions again. I couldn't get anaesthetist back for another top up at 9pm when I needed it as he was in theatre and the shot of milder stuff that midwives can give wasn't having any effect so was back to gas and air!
I'd still do it all again tomorrow and it's not put me off having another epidural.0 -

really put me off the idea now....
I had an epidural, on doctors advice, and it was fab for me, it did start to wear off, but they just topped it, it had worn off slightly when it came to pushing, but I was glad of that really. I was completely anti epidural before hand, but I'm open minded about it now for next time. Wouldn't be my first choice but I wouldn't rule it out either. Pethidine on the other hand... never again. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Just spoken to the DAU and they want me to go and get checked out again this afternoon so I'll be off there again when OH gets home from work0
