  • Morning!

Well I spent four hours at the hospital last night, was asleep on the sofa and OH cooked the tea, I sat up and TMI leaked all over, I thought it was my waters, so phoned delivery suite and they said to go up to get checked out. They were really thorough, took blood, temperature, blood pressure and examined me, turned out it wasn't my waters but my plug, I thought it would be gooey and jelly like but it wasn't.

Got home and actually had a really good nights sleep even though I've had back pains and period pains since. So hopefully things are starting to happen

Ooh good luck Gillybean - sounds promising that you've been having the pains. I'm dreading the mucous plug coming out - it sounds absolutely gross, and I've been told that the snot-like stuff can be the size of your fist!
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Rups - you always ask the questions I'm thinking! I've not heard of this plug thing either! Good luck at your scan later x

Sounds like some ladies are beginning to move today, hope things go well for you.

I watched that midwife program last night. I used to love OBEM before I was pg - watching it last night being pg made me think OMG - I'm actually going to have to go through that!! Think it's quite educational in a way. Watched it with DH as well (under much sufference on his part) but I think it's quite good for him to see what can happen.

Hopefully things aren't far off happening for you Gilly

Rups, it depends they can trickle or gush out :o I think I read somewhere that if they go when you are lying down and you get up they are more likely to gush than if they go when you are sitting or standing. I know when I had my last mc my waters went when I was getting up off the hospital bed to go to the loo and they gushed all over the bed. Sorry if tmi

The plug starts to build up as soon as you concieve. I would think that needs to come out before the waters though I guess both could come out at the same time so you wouldn't notice. The plug can come away all at once or bit by bit.

    xx

ETA Your plug can come out a while before labour starts (days or weeks I think)

Plug, is just that, it's a plug in your cervix :D lol, helps keep all the nasty infections/bugs etc away from baby in the early weeks.

Mine looked like green snot, and after I lost mine I went into labour almost instantly, but some people can lose theres and nothing happen for 2 weeks.
