Sit and rock forward and backward whilst sitting on it - apparently the swaying motion helps the baby to move down rj.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

well said Jedi. one thing that the new midwives show demonstrated is that augmentation of labour is common practice and has serious effects. the triage midwife was right really - stay home and ride it out as long as you can, and thats because once you go thru those doors, you enter a process of intervention that pays no heed to the natural mechanics of labour and childbirth. i do speak from personal experience, as with my first i was induced at 38 weeks for medical reasons, and i was delighted! i was going to get my baby, possibly a full four weeks shaved off my misery time... well i was induced, and had a four hour birth. i also had pessary x3, waters broken, drip, scalp clip on my daughter, hallucinations from the pain relief needed to handle back to back contractions, a floppy tired baby who slept for three days and refused to breastfeed, and if im honest, no real recollection of her birth. four years later, i had a spontaneous planned homebirth, and gave birth to a happy alert little fella, who packed on a good half a pound in his first week and breastfed like a trooper.

i firmly believe that birth matters... its easy in the current maternity culture to fall into the trap of feeling like pregnancy is a disease to be cured, but your body is a wonderful thing, have faith!

My OH thinks I'm weird because I told him when my contractions start/waters go I want to go to my nans house and stay there till they are a lot more regular. He thought we would be going straight to the hospital. I'd much rather be at my nans, be comfy, chilled out (as much as possible) knowing that when it's time my granddad can drive me to the hospital rather than come to our house to pick us up and me have to walk down the steps from our house while having very close together contractions. Also I agreed to mum being a 2nd birthing partner and she lives a few doors down from my nan so I don't have to stress about getting her either.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

DD1 was born after a 5-hour labour, was crowning before I got a whiff of gas and air. DD2 arrived after a 3-hour labour, and less than an hour after I got to the hospital (which is a 40 minute drive in the daytime). So my concern is getting there on time rather than staying at home as long as possible lol!

Having been quite 'lucky' with speedy (though ridiculously intense) labours I'm very keen to avoid induction as I know when my body's ready, it'll do it's thing. Also I'm seriously in NO rush whatsoever for this baby to arrive - as much as it's being a pain carrying it on the inside (still having lots of BP/pre-e issues and hospital visits) I fully realise how much more hassle it'll be on the outside!! So the more weeks of relative peace and semi-decent night's sleep I get, the better :)

Thermometers - we've had a gro-egg since DD1 was born and think they're great, easy to read, accurate and looks cool too. Our Angelcare monitor does show the temp on it too but it's not really very accurate.

    Morning everyone

    It's Friday today :j:j:j.

Nothing planned for the weekend but I'm just happy to have 2 days off.

Re buying things for the baby I just have loads of nappies and wipes as I had lots of vouchers (thanks ladies for your tips) and starting with next week I will buying more stuff (once we have the scan, of course).

Rups not long now :j 3 days you and 5 me :j. Not sure why my EDD is 28th Dec as I know when I've OV and it should have been 25th... Anyhow, today I'm 19 weeks and I feel great. I do have the odd pain but I know that's completely normal so therefore I'm really happy and greatful that I'm still pregnant.

Speaking about health, can anyone recommend me a good yoga dvd, please?

Labor vibes to all the boldies :D. Please give birth so I can be in 70s:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Morning all, just thought I would let you know that Babies R Us have 20% off bedding when you use the code BEDDING20 online; think you can get the discount in store but this is sent to you via an emailed voucher. They also have 20% off certain top brands at Toys R Us using the code TOPBRANDS20 online too. This applies to things like peppa pig, lego, moshi monsters, disney, thomas and friends etc.

jedi so glad you wrote that post, having been to antenatal classes and heard what the effects are when labour is induced or when things are hurried along I would much rather go into labour naturally, even if that does mean going considerably over my due date (which is not a prospect that I relish, believe me!) The midwife that took the class explained what effects induction and drugs can have on the baby after the birth (less responsive, floppy, not feeding well etc) and OH and I are really keen not to go down that route. We have both said that IF 'interference' is needed for medical reasons then we will have to assess that situation as and when it rises, but otherwise we'll try and let baby come when they are ready to.

    Morning all,

Seems nesting has started to kick in with me, i was walking around the house yesterday and all i could see were things that need doing or i want to change. Its really odd as some of these things do need doing anyway but the feeling of needing to get things done is much worse now and not liking what im looking at.

I was very achy and tired yesterday so although i want to tidy up and clean im going to only do little things today and take it easy, i do have at least 4wks to get it all done anyway(unless someone wants to come early).

Congrats to your friend rjh thats a big baby, hope both are well and enjoying the new experience.

Best wishes all boldies, hope things are happening soon or if they already have then hope all is well and your enjoying cuddles

Have a good day everyone x

Despite being exhausted yesterday after all the cleaning nesting etc I couldn't sleep last night. Was after three before I drifted off.

Gonna relax this morning with bathing daughter doing dishes then lunch then time for midwife. Having pains and tighteninhs still so hoping she will check me.
love you lots like jelly tots :o
