woh busy thread
sexymouse - i have 2 cardboard thermometers (one was given to me) i didnt fancy anything that used batteries or electricity, although i think the grow eggs look really cool. another friend brought me a duck thermometer to go in the bath.
re you feeling tired, not sure how long you have been taking your iron? took about a month of taking supplements before i noticed a difference. i asked for my iron levels to be tested a few weeks earlier then they had planned to put my mind at rest that my iron levels were rising (they were but very slowly)
moneypuddle - your work do sound like sh*t heads lol it must be extremely hard to be feeling so stressed and pregnant. you can go off work without a certificate from your doctor for stress as it is an illness ( i think its 7 days without a cert) you will then need a certificate from the docs.
the other option is if they dont sign you off completely there is a fitness to work certificate where they can state things for your employer to do to enable you to stay at work. for example not to take any more tasks on etc. but with your work they dont sound like they care for your health much so it might just to be best to be signed off completey. all the best for your appt on monday.
silly moo - congratulations
divorcing jack - happy due date, how are you feeling? are you getting the dreaded texts/phone calls asking if baby is here
midwife appt today at 40+3. it went ok, everythings fine. she offered me a sweep on monday and an induction on 11th aug which i declined. i did ask her for an information sheet re induction as i hadnt been given anything at all (even though i have read stuff), i said i would talk this through with DH even though we both feel we dont want any intervention until 42 weeks. they are wanting to keep a close eye on me so have another appt with midwife on monday.

please ignore this post if it bores you but i am pretty amazed at the amount of women that are induced before they are 42 weeks, it just seems wrong that we are not letting things happen naturally and i feel that most women are not explained the negative outcomes associated with induction. anyway, below is a link to a clinical study regarding induction of healthy women....
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1948087/?tool=pmcentrez
the main conclusion is this:
Lamaze International recommends that you neither choose induction nor agree to be induced unless there is a true medical reason. A “large” or even “very large” baby is not a medical reason for induction. Allowing your body to go into labor on its own almost always is the best way for you to know that your baby is ready to be born. Spontaneous labor also increases the likelihood that you can experience the other care practices identified by Lamaze International that support normal birth—especially freedom of movement and no routine interventions.
Experiencing natural contractions produced by your own body's oxytocin increases your freedom to respond to your contractions by moving around, changing positions, and trying the tub or shower. Interfering with or replacing the natural hormones that orchestrate labor, birth, breastfeeding, and maternal attachment may have consequences that we do not yet understand. Laboring and giving birth without unnecessary medical intervention decrease the possibility of complications for both you and your baby and increase the likelihood that you will have positive, lifelong memories of your birth experience.
i understand and support induction for women or babies who have health problems. at the end of the day this is your choice but i just dont feel both sides of the argument are made clear.

jedi its a good point you have raised, as yesterday at the pregnancy fayre that is exactly what the midwife said. she said desptite all these ways of inducing, it is the best way to try and let things happen naturally. lets hope we are all lucky in that way then.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

I have agreed to put off induction for longer in the hope that I will go into natural labour and will be trying all the old wives tales. But due to previous complications our consultant doesn't want to leave us until full term. Hopefully it will all happen naturally anyway.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500
