Quick question ladies before I read back, got a lot of catching up to do... How long did your anomaly scan take, I've got mine this afternoon at 2:15 :)

Hi Bezzy, mine took 15 minutes. Luckily I was first and called exactly on time for a change. Usually the wait to go in is longer than the scan I've found!

regarding fit-to-fly, ask your midwife. i got one before i went on hols as i read online that my ferry company could ask for one and i was 32 weeks outbound, 33 weeks inbound. no mention of paying for it.

Re travel, as I found out recently ferries also have restrictions on when you can travel. I'm going to ask my midwife for a piece of paper at the next appointment as I'm heading off on a ferry at just over 28 weeks - I'd rather have the paper than be denied boarding. Travel insurance won't cover me from 30 weeks for pregnancy so I just slip in in time. And then I discovered our EHIC cards had expired so have reapplied for those!
  • I had my consultant appointment yesterday only the consultant wasn't there so I saw the registrar instead.

Was this at East Surrey by any chance?

Nope, it was at Croydon University - clearly Surrey hospitals are all as bad as each other!

I had mine yesterday @ E Surrey... it was supposed to be at 2pm and at 2.20pm the receptionist announced to the waiting room that we were witing for the consultant to gte back from lunch before the afternoon appts can continue. At 2.35pm the consultant came in and told reception that she was off to a meeting for the afternoon so the registrar would have to take her appts as well as his... at 2.45 I was called into his office (I was the first one I might add) and by 3pm he sat down and started talking to me... he said 'whilst its lovely to see you...why are you here?' which I didn't know the answer too as all my notes say low risk and nobody had told me...long story short I had a nothingness appt and i left just after 3.30pm and there were far too many people in the waiting room to go in after me!

Afternoon Ladies. well I've been pretty quite on here as I've been busy trying to meet deadlines for uni but I've been trying to keep up with all the posts.
    Tah-dah!

But it is worth taking note of because it varies SO much between airlines. And that's a good point on the travel insurance; although as we're travelling within the EU my EHIC should also be valid so between them we should be ok.

When I flew BA they said it was fine to fly up to 36 weeks or something and from the UK they didn't question me being pregnant. However, despite the fact that I wasn't even 28 weeks when I returned I had to show them my letter from the MW which they took and copied for their files before they would let me on the plane. All the letter is, is basically a generic one where they insert your name and your due date then get the surgery to stamp it. Mines was free from the MW. We also had to contact our insurance company and let them know to ensure that we were covered in that respect. I would say just ring your mw and ask for one to be on the safe side as I personally think it is one of those things where it will all depend on the member of staff dealing with you.

Congratulations to AMC and Silly Moo on the birth of your little darlings.

Well I've supposedly been in early labour now for well over a week (according to MWs) but baby girl is staying put. Keep getting really strong painful contractions every 10 or so minutes which last for a while then ease off again only to come back. Despite not being passed my due date have everyone phoning to ask if I've had the baby yet and been getting recommendations as to what to drink to get it all moving. I've declined as I'm sure if she wants out she will come out - unless shes a stubborn little thing like me who was over 3 weeks late .

Aida have you signed up to Tescos yet? They send you vouchers and inside the front page of one of the magazines they send you is a voucher for free huggies as well.

Been looking at the link someone posted for the changing bags and now I'm confused - do I go for the bigger one which is cheaper on amazon or the smaller one which is more expensive but looks nicer. Oh decisions.

Re: clothes we have some "tiny" baby vest and 'early' baby etc from mothercare as we compared them to the sizes from years ago they are pretty much the same - one is for a baby who is 5lb something and the other is 7lb - as well as newborn. I have a feeling that this baby is going to be small (i'm petite and according to everyone have a very neat bump which cannot grow any more) and didn't want to take any chances.

Well better get back to it - one more assignment to do as well as the birth plan etc

Labour vibes to those who want and need them
  • Thanks for that Sa-ra-ra-ra. I'd looked for it but couldn't find it... I'm not sure why I was asked then. I don't look anywhere near 35wks!

As for fit-to-fly notes, my midwife won't issue them, it has to be the gp and my gp charges that. So maybe it varies across pcts??

Sorry you had such a rubbish time at the consulant yesterday dizsie...

omg ikkle. i am going to start panicking now.. i havent got ANYTHING!!

You've got ages left to go! We didn't buy any clothes til we went to an NCT nearly new sale a few weeks ago. In fact, apart from our nappies, which we bought at 10 weeks due to a great offer, we didn't actually have any baby stuff at home until that sale!

I'm going to buy some newborn stuff, just 10 each of vests and sleepsuits I think. Aiming to have 10 each in 0-3 months and 3-6 months in neutral colours, and then see what flavour we get. Not buying any outfits as they tend to be gender specific, and I don't really like them on tiny babies anyway. I can always send DH to the shops if we have an emergency. Whichever flavour I'm expecting a lot of handmedowns from family, and I know MIL has been buying things, and knitting things as well, so I don't want to buy stuff that won't get used. Especially as she won't tell me what sizes etc she's bought as "it's a surprise"! At least it's mostly from Jojo's so I know I'll probably like whatever it is! :rotfl:
