  • bellola - just a quick note re thirs stage of labour; at our antenatal classes we were told that you will be offered the injection to delvier the placenta during the second stage. if you have this, they clamp the cord when baby is born and cut and then will press down on your stomach to get the placenta out as they have a limited time in whcih to get it removed. However, the drawback is that when baby is in the womb there is natural ebb and flow of blood through the placenta and when baby is born the recommed that the placenta is delivered naturally as this encourages the blood flow from the placenta back to the baby. I plan to have a natural third stage for this reason, but I understand that this might not be to everyones liking!

    Hope that helps x

DH is getting more anxious as the days go by, he has a 30min bike ride from work to get back to me if i go into labour, he is worried he will miss it. i have told him things dont tend to happen that quickly!! lol

    :rotfl: if only!

Rups, as to positioning, I think my bump is quite high but it does vary through the day as well and (I think) gets lower as the day goes on (generally speaking, of course). Will try another bump shot tonight.

Yesterday tried the photo from behind thing, I think from behind I look bigger than pre-pregnancy, but a stranger wouldn't know I was pregnant.
  • just watched the midwives - really wished i hadnt - i love obem and usually laugh at all the drama but the staff were so rude i dont know what i would do it anyone spoke to me like that :(

my and bubs are having a chilled day today - my hubby started a new job today and ive kinda got used to having him to keep me company round the house since ive been on mat leave but am so pleased he has managed to find work to keep and and bump in the lifestyle ive became accustomed to :) just hope they are ok about him being with me at the hosp when the time comes

Knew I forgot something - Rups, if it's not an infection, perhaps your urine is a bit more acidic than normal (or it's the same and your body is just more sensitive?). Might be worth asking at the appointment, perhaps they'll give you some ant-acid type things to drink if it's the case.

I usually have such a quiet baby that today and yesterday have felt really strange. I had 5 hours solid of kicking last night, and she's still going on and off today. I figure she must have loved the huge pack of choccie biccys I got through :D

I'm also glad I don't watch any of the tv shows. I have managed to place all my memories of childbirth into a bubble of faded memory, and I don't want any reminders of the true pain before I get back there!!

gotitspendit- congrats on finding out your having a boy. Still loads more boys than girls on the list!

Re placenta - I assume I had the injection with both my children as I remember it coming out pretty quickly afterwards. Nobody ever asked me if I wanted it, I had no idea there was a choice! I'd do the same again now though as it worked before.

Diszie - can't believe people were staring at you, how rude and unhelpful! I could almost understand it if you were in the first trimester, then they could be thinking you were drunk, but with an obviously pregnant lady it's sad that people react that way.

I forgot to check on the formula situation at my hospital. I must remember next week when I see the midwife. I will not be happy if they don't provide it though - the dragging bottles and steriliser to the hospital is just silly - where would you even put it all?

Rups - my bump is always low down and doesn't move in that sense. It does move in terms of odd lumps sticking out sideways or lengthways depending where baby is lying, but the main roundness is always low down.

i!!!!!!!!!!! - congrats on your hubby's job, hope it works out well for him.

BC sounds so complicated. I will try to BF but the whole thing puts me off. Are those feeding cups for sale?I might get one (closer to my edd) plus a breast pump. Also I will need to start looking for a pushchair, nursery furniture and other vital things. I'm so excited!!!

Rups My bump stayed like that for 5 minutes, maximum so not too long. I will check again tomorrow morning and see if I get the the same funny shape as today.
:jNot long now and we will see our little ones. Hope it will be a positive scan and also that I will find out the gender. You decided not to, right?
My belly is high and my little one had a 144 bpm last time when I saw my midwife. How many bpm your baby had when you had your 16 weeks appointment?

    Hi all!

Don't remember who it was who was having a very hungry caterpillar theme in their nurseries but tesco have got the double club card exchange on at the mo and have some wall stickers in the offer. They aren't cheap but look great and if you have got vouchers could be good. Hope I've managed to post the link ok cos typing on iPad at babysitting at mo and not too sure if it's worked.

Also, has anyone bought a room or bath thermometer yet? Was advised by nct teacher to get a room one but not sure what to get. Anyone have any experience with these?
