My hospital provided the cup for me, and a container and sterilising fluid for the time we stayed (10 days). They also provided a breast pump, and the parts you need for it (also had to be sterilised).
Maybe, if it is of concern to you, you could ask you hospital if they support cup feeding as an alternative and if their staff are trained to show you (it is something you need to see to learn), and whether they will provide one if necessary. I have seen videos of people online using a shot glass
And CL the sceptic in me says your local hospital (and mine) can afford the formula because I bet they are heavily discounted or even free. I know at my hospital you could pick SMA or Cow and Gate, but once you had chosen they encouraged you to stick with the same one.....so by giving the formula to hospitals, the companies have got themselves future customers.0 -
Moneypuddle you seem to have so many work stresses. It's not fair on you! I think you should decide when you want to finish and just do it. To hell with everyone else! You need to be selfish and think about you and the baby. I'm starting maternity leave the week baby's due but I'm using all my annual leave before that so I have 4 weeks off, to rest nest and relax a bit. Can you not do something similiar, I'm sure you'd feel much better for it.
Thank you. I really just thought people would have a heart and be a bit nicer to me. Not that I think I'm entitled to anything, but if I saw I'd made a pregnant woman at work cry due to stress, I would feel SO guilty. They feel nothing.
They asked me today to bring the baby in when he's a few weeks old so they could see him. I said yes but am now thinking 'why on earth would I do that?!' and share my little boy with any of them, even for half an hour!!
You're right I do need to start being more selfish about it. Thank you0 -
What a cow ! sorry works being so tough at the min, a good way of looking at it, is you wont be there for much longer and then you have a long break (well sort of a break).
Hope it improves for you, dont let get you down x
Thanks hun. I would love to just keep my head down and get on with it, but with having to train people Im rushing around like a headless chicken all day. Not even getting time for a drink or something to eat. Its just awful.0 -
Hello everyone,
It looks like whatever the midwife did yesterday worked because i'm fairly certain I am now in early labour. It started middle of the night, woke up thinking waters had broken but there didn't look to be enough, so woke hubby who said it looked more like the plug coming away. Well since then I have been having contractions which are gradually getting more intense. Not ready for hospital yet and still hoping this means we get into the birthing centre and can avoid the induction.
Joking with hubby - it looks like our Olympic baby was waiting for team GM to start getting the golds!!2025 financial goals & challenges!

My baby is due 4th October, so my plan was to work till 20th Sep, take 6 days holiday then begin maternity leave. The thought behind this was to keep earning for as long as possible since my pay drop is going to be from around £1600/month down to £500/month on maternity leave. Now I'm just thinking this is crazy and I should finish sooner. Might ask around on the employment board to see what everyone else did. What difference does a few £100s make to your sanity?!?
dunno but I'm looking at a similar drop. It's going to be manageable with OH's wages, plus savings so I'm taking 2 weeks holiday before the baby arrives and then starting maternity straight afterwards, leaving 4 weeks before EDD. I'd say if you can manage financially just leave earlier, you'll thank yourself for it! Oh and :rotfl:at nobheads, I love that word!
