LMM – it is standard practise in my PCT to test everybody for the GTT apparently…that I do know! I friend is quite a senior delivery midwife at my hospital so told me that I will have to have one just like everybody else in my PCT… I think you can refuse but god knows why you would want to? I also have raised BMI so even if it wasn’t for everyone I bet I would have to have it anyway…
LittleMoog – I thought it would be something midwife does at 24 week appt…but my 24 week appt is at 26+4 so cutting it fine if test must be done by 28 weeks? But if timing isn’t crucial then it is just the baby app on my phone freaking me out… plus wouldn’t baby already be measuring big if I did have it?? At my scan 2 weeks ago he was on the 50th centile so perfectly average!
Aww thanks Snowyz81, LittleMoog & zcrat41, I don’t care if they just walk on by but it’s the watching like it is a spectator sport and then not one of them asking if I am ok L Luckily it was 8am and not too many people around!
SavageHK – I am dressed for work so I don’t think I look like a crazy drunk! Although it was in Croydon so who knows these days lol… I can’t believe about your friend fainting…how awful are these people???
Why am I still 65 on the list? I can't wait for my boy to arrive and it is taking ages:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -
Morning!
Well after watching the midwife programme last night, my OH came back from his martial arts class to find me sat in front on the tv crying going 'I can't do that'!! So, needless to say, he has now banned me from watching it ever again! And the forceps....
I can't remember who was asking about the GTT, but I didn't have mine until I was nearly 31 weeks! My midwives ballsed up right from the booking appointment etc and seeing as the right hand didn't know what the left was doing, it was only sorted when one of them wrote in huge letters on my form 'This is the third time of referral, please see to it immediately!'.
It really amazes me how, when bf-ing is so widely referred to as the best for the baby, there are so many midwives/drs/paeds who will have you 'give up' nearly straightaway. It is one of my biggest fears - the fact that I just won't have the energy to fight my corner for it, so I think I shall prime my OH to fight it for me!
Anyway, I have virtually no plans for today and am going to drink tea, watch Olympics and 'research' baby things online!
Hugs to all,
Sam x0 -
Feeding - definitely check your hospital's policy on providing formula if you struggle to BF. Mine would provide it if you were found to be doing your best to BF, getting support from the midwives etc. If you just didn't want to BF, then they wouldn't provide any formula. I wish I'd known about the cup - I struggled to BF despite the hospital staff spending hours with me and LO (I had a section so was there for a while), so LO was fed hand expressed colostrum (from syringe) and formula (from bottle, provided by the hospital). BF never did work out, and I will never know if using a cup would have made a difference, but if I have a second baby and struggle again I will definitely ask for one. Not that a second baby is high on my wish list right now - I love my little girl to bits, but she's quite capable of keeping me busy all by herself!...0

Morning all, how are you?
LMM, I ordered from Next online and hopefully they will deliver tomorrow as I am working from home. I ordered: a tankini (in two sizes just in case), a swim suit in two sizes too, a pair of white linen mat trousers for my holiday next week. a long cardi, and a worky skirt. I am def hoping to return the smaller/bigger size so looking forward to having some money back. J I hope the tankini briefs fit me as I ordered only one size lol
Clarissa- good luck for the induction.
Omg I missed the midwives program as we were out. Glad I didn’t watch it if there were sad things happening. An Indian woman told me to watch comedy stuff so I am always happy and my baby will be happy. Lol yesterday someone told me my bump is quite low. Lol
ladyM go to the GP or ring MW to get it checked out. Sounds like a migraine. Hope you are better today. X
aida how is the belly now? I would freak if I saw that but I guess its normal hey? J hope you are ok and not too freaked out. Was thinking of you this morning as was walking to the bus stop as was counting that I have 5 days to my scan and you a week!:)
Hope you are ok rjh. Hugs back. X
Thanks for the advise turtlemoose. BF does sound painful. Bad enough when sometimes DH want to play with nipples and they hurt. Ouch. will try watching the video at home as banned at work! grr
Oh dizsie so sorry to hear that. I hope you are ok. I hate that about people. Some people just don’t care! Stupid s! Just ignore them. Hugs hon. Xxx

rups just remember, discomfort is normal while you are getting the hang of it.... pain is not - you have to be honest with yourself which one it is. If it is pain then ask ask ask until someone helps you stop it hurting. And lots of lansinoh, can't stress that enough, it's magic stuff :T0

Rups - GTT is glucose tolerance test a test to check for gestational diabetes. Also some women get UTI's a lot during pregnancy as your kidneys etc are working harder. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
