Just to let you know, I've just got back from Asda, and they have Pampers nappy mats reduced to £3 at the moment for 12 - I've bought a pack to use instead of maternity mats nearer my due date as they are bigger (I think) and still absorbant, and also cheaper than the maternity mats at the moment. Any I don't use can be used for the baby.
Also, at our NCT class on Saturday, we looked at bathing baby and nappy changing, and talc is advised against due to asthma and the fact that it is a carcinogen (sp?). With boys you just need to make sure that you clean underneath their balls carefully when you change their nappy, never try to clean under the foreskin, and also if they show any signs of nappy rash (same for girls here), use sudocreme or some other form of barrier cream, otherwise, water and cotton wool should be sufficient. I've bought the large cotton wool pads from Waitrose baby range (3for2), as I've been told cotton wool balls aren't big enough by a few people, but I'm sure that Asda will have them in their baby event in August too.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -
These are the mats I got savage. They've had good reviews on Boots website too. I thought of these as my Nan has them as she has weeping leg ulcers and they use them (obviously prescribed version rather than Pampers) to protect her bedding.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Oh, and I finally managed to get the grape flakes MMM - this is a big Asda store so they had them, so I've got them and a bag of raisins (also good source of iron apparently) to put on top of them, and some cranberry and raspberry juice to help me to absorb it as well as my iron tablets. Hope you can't overdose on iron. I don't think the iron tablets are working yet (although that may be because I keep forgetting to take the one in the evening to make my second dose), as I'm still looking very pale (not much colour in my inner eyelids or my lips) and can hardly stay awake by about 11am (had to have a nap for a couple of hours today). Will discuss it with my midwife when I see her next week, as I've been trying to eat dried apricots etc to increase my intake too. I think she wants to do another blood test to check my levels then anyway.
For anyone considering a waterbirth, have you considered what you will wear? I've just ordered this bikini and swim sarong (to give me a bit of dignity down below), and Moon is picking them up tonight. Will let you know what they're like in the flesh, but I thought they looked nice for after the birth too (provided they don't get ruined).Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -
I went for a water birth with dd, as for the dignity you will soon lose it, I just stuckt a tankini top and will do the same this time, you dont want too much down there as mw will still needto see whats going on. And also just to warn you the mw will have a net to fish out the things you will push out while trying to push out the baby. Mw has seen it all before!Mummy to Isabella - March 2008 and Daisie - September 2012:A - November 2011 (mc)0

I know the midwife will need to check, but it's not so long that she shouldn't be able to do that anyway. It's more for my comfort really so I don't feel completely naked down there during the part before the pushing.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

I was adamant my baby wasn't having a dummy, but due to his reflux we gave one, it really helped him to self settle. He's 6 months old now and only has it for naps and bed time. If it falls out he isn't one to whinge for it back.
If you don't need one fab, but I'd much rather have a dummy than a thumb, you can't chop a thumb off
Oh also, I had bought like 9 TT CTN soothers before he was born, and he did not like them at all, but he loves Avent & MAM, so different types may suit different babiesThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Just tried on the bikini and the sarong. Obviously I won't be wearing the bottoms (just the sarong) and the top. However, I tried the bottoms on too to check they will fit after the birth. The sarong is very cute and perfect for the task (think the lady who fashioned her own red bikini and sarong in OBEM), but the bikini was a bit big despite my boobs having grown, so we're exchanging for a size 10. I was in between the sizes when I measured with a tape measure, but allowing for the fact that my boobs may go down in size again after birth, and it was loose on top now, I didn't want to be falling out all over the place. Moon got very excited when he saw me in the whole outfit. lolEnjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Hi everyone, thanks for your kind words. I think it was Miss Moneysaver who asked about the name. Wynn is a Welsh name – Luke's dad is Welsh so we wanted to make reference to his Welsh heritage somehow.
Finding it quite tough going as still early days. Luke just had a crying fit that lasted a long time. It's hard when you don't know what's wrong and you've done everything you can. My mum is here and helping at the moment but as my body is still recovering and I'm not getting much sleep I'm very tired and of course not able to rest enough. Got the blues a bit at the moment! Maybe when I can get outside it will help.
Good luck Clarissa with the next sweep, hope you have your baby soon xx0
