The pulse is different for girls and boys apparently... but in either case it's really fast so we'll have to concentrate well to listen!!

savage - my legs were like tree trunks all 3 times! Old wives tales would be no use to me as every time I have looked physically the same. In my case I just carry the same way regardless! I wouldn't have a clue what I was having if I hadn't asked at the scan.

Rups don't rely on any of the silly methods, the chances are they won't help you at all. If you want to know you'll have to put your foot down and tell your OH that you are finding out at the scan!

Oh my god ... was so hungry thought I would faint earliar! Felt really sick as a result of it too :( Just run over to sainsburys though to grab some food to tide me over...didn't think I would make it back because I felt so rough. Usually have snacks in my drawer for such occasions but let my supplies run out!

Ahh thanks Bikeless, I hope I do too! :D

Rups - My OH is quite laid back about getting things ready but I am very organised so I just do / buy it and then show him afterwards which works well for us... but then he does work 62 hours a week plus at least 12 hours commuting (which I just worked out means 44% of his week is at work and 29% sleeping so only leave 26% for time to himself/with me!) so I don't mind if he is relaxed about it all...don't want to make him have a heart attack working too many hours and stressing about baby stuff!

Right you Croydon-ish ladies. I need to get a present for someone who's in Croydon. Anyone recommend a good spa close by or somewhere where they will do a massage??

I've been going over my baby spreadsheet, and I feel like we're nearly there :j Plan in place to decorate nursery and get the furniture (chosen but not ordered) in by the end of the month, and then we can start washing and organising the clothes, nappies and bedding :) I was feeling a bit stressed last week, but a lot calmer now. We've bought/been offered almost everything from the list now, just need to go over the clothes and see if we need any more basics in 0-3/3-6 months.

Is anyone buying a baby thermometer before baby arrives? Any recommendations? we looked in Boots at the weekend but couldn't decide as there were so many options. DH wanted the Philips in-ear one, as he used them when he was an HCA in hospital, but it seemed really expensive, and had covers/filter things that needed replaced after each use.

I meant to add, Rups, my DH is very laid back too, but I'm the opposite! I have a spreadsheet where I've listed all the stuff I thought we might need, examples and quantities etc, and I've been updating it as I go. When I think it's time to buy something, I show DH the 2/3 options I've narrowed it down to, and then we pick one. It works well as he doesn't want to spend hours reading online, so I can tell him the reasons I've chosen particular things, and he just has to help with the last choice! It's what we did with our wedding as well! :rotfl:

I also asked my sister with the newest baby (born January) to look over my list and tell me honestly if there was anything she thought was a waste of money, or anything obvious missing, which was really helpful!
edit: it also meant she could tell me which bits she'd have finished using and could pass on so I could cross them off the list to buy! ;)

We only have 2 major things left to sort, decorating the nursery and replacing our car, so we've agreed to do the nursery in August and the car in September, so I feel like everything major is done before October in case of an early arrival!

Baby Spreadsheet - Littlemoog - you are THE most organised person I have ever come across!!

Ditzie - I can sympathise with the working lots of hours thing. DH and I do 80 - 100 hour weeks at this time of year and we are like passing ships in the night and when we do see each other we're so tired we just either grump at each other or sleep!

Be interesting to see how I cope with it this year. Worked both Sat and Sun, not particularly long days (8am - 8.30 sat and 9.30 - 7.30 SUn) but boy I'm shattered today! Might be in for some fun when the hardcore hours kick in in a few weeks.
