Hiya ladies- can I join in?

Long time lurker here, I was on the TTC board, skipped the less then 12 weeks thread, and have been reading in here ever since my 12 week scan, it's addictive!

We are expecting a little bundle of blue on the 12th November, which makes me 24 +6 :o I think and having lots of ups and downs!

Flump is currently measuring 3 weeks ahead so is a little lump already, I have my first consultant appointment on Wednesday and have been discussing induction and c-sections with my midwife.
Just found out i'm being redundant from my job of 5 years  Have had to move back in with my parents to try and pay off all our debts before Flump arrives, the council refuse to give us more then 10 points and without my salary coming in we can't afford to private rent and definately no savings for a deposit on a house of our own. Looks like baby's first night/month will be spent in Nana and Pop Pop's house :(

Still, trying to look at the positive side of things! Thought i'd finally bite the bullet as you lovely ladies seem so supportive and reading your posts sometimes make me want to send you all a big dodgy hug :grouphug: .

Hope we're all ok now it seems the weather has cooled down a bit! Just getting some washing out of the way then off out to do some pizza deliveries with hubby to earn a few extra pennies :money:

Cherry try again with the council after 27 weeks hun as I think thats when they allow you more points to start bidding for 2 bedroom properties. Have you looked at local housing federations and associations too as they are often cheaper rents than those of private landlords.

Try not to worry too much and if you do have to live with your parents don't worry about it, my first few months were spent living with my grandparents and it didn't do me any harm.

Have you looked into what benefits you will be able to claim? It may be that because your going to be unemployed the benefits you will be entitled to will mean you can claim the Sure Start maternity grant which is £500 and that may be a help to you for a bond or first months rent. Even with private renting you can sometimes still get housing benefit too.

Next person to tell me they don't know why I've bought bubs so and so because he is going to be a big baby and it will never fit him is going to get poked in the eye! Don't know why people can't just say oh that's nice instead of being negative and saying things about baby's size, or his name or that i've wasted money buying him so and so. He's my baby if I want to buy him something I will, if he only wears it once then so be it, I wouldn't mind but the doctors have said he's not a big baby, he's obviously not huge as at 30 weeks theres no bump so why dont they just !!!!!!! Ugh!

Oh and apparently I'm weird because I've bought him a pink polo neck t-shirt from H&M. My OH has the exact same shirt so I thought it would be cute for them to both have the same one but I will confuse bubs by dressing him in pink! Grrr.

Dizsie- we're having hungry caterpillar theme too, we've got lots of lovely little outfits from Sainsburys when they have their 75% off events, that picture's really cute you'll have to make me one :D

Ikkle- Thanks for replying, it's not that I dislike my parents or feel bad for being here, i'm actually in a pretty good position, it's just having your own personal space and doing things in your own time i'm missing a little bit. All of our HA are through our council I think. On the homebid website I have to bid on they have affordable rent properties but you have to bid on those too, i'm bidding every week but dont think my 10 points will get us very far lol. I was looking at benefits before I found out about redundancy but my company are saying that i'll be getting my statutory redundancy pay, additional redundancy pay from them, and will be getting all of my SMP in one lump sum, so not sure if that would all then count as savings? With my accrued holiday and last month's pay it would all come to around £9500 which I would love to use on a deposit but that includes the SMP which i'll need for the time i'm off with Flump and to buy large baby bits etc, so not sure if that money would affect anything?
