hugs ikkle, it is so hard when these anniversaries come. I also had one of my miscarriages by my birthday, so I find it hard to enjoy anymore too. I have found it slightly easier to deal with those dates this year, but it's still hard.

I didn't watch the Olympic opening ceremony, but I'm looking forward to watching all the sport. We've got a load of snacks and are planning on a pj day in front of the tv. The kids are really excited about watching swimming and gymnastics.

I'm really tired, I've had weird dreams about being murdered the last couple of nights. They feel like the most real dreams I've ever had, and I struggle to get back to sleep afterwards. I have heard of people having weird dreams in pregnancy, but it's never happened to me before!

    Urgh, horrible horrible night :(

Didnt get to sleep till gone 1am, then woke up at 3am and was wide awake till after 6am. Boys got up at 7, hubby left for work at 8 which woke me again and then i drifted off till 9am when my youngest asked for breakfast :o

Now have raging morning sickness but cant eat anything for an hour as only just taken my medication :(

Hope you all have a better start to the day than me !

  • Morning all!
Hope everyone slept better last night.

Zcrat welcome officially to the thread :) everyone said the months would fly by and it seems like they kinda have.
Ikkle huge hugs hun. It's normal to grieve so don't feel bad for feeling sad. Let yourself have a few days to think about him.
Clarissa good luck with your walking, hope things happen soon for you.
RJH hugs for feeling rough today. Can't imagine being pregnant and having to look after another child.
Emsbet hope you have a good weekend away and your feet don't swell up too much on the journey.
Re: staying at home I'd love to stay at home. There's no way we could afford it though. But on the other hand I've worked hard to get my job and just finished my degree before I got signed off so I dot want to loose it all and lost touch with all the current stuff. I think I'll do three or four days a week. Also I earn more than OH with shift allowance etc. I'm lucky my sister has said she'll do most of the childcare. I've done loads for her over the years. Our hospital nursery is £50 a day so roughly £1000. Need to look into these childcare vouchers that people talk about. Is there a link to somewhere simple? I'm not sure we'd be entitled to any of these tax credits, we don't earn bad money, but I'll check it out incase. If it means I can work one less day and not be much worse off it could work out rather well ;) I think that's just wishful thinking!
Mishka I think I'd rather have less money and be around for my little one like you've been able too rather than not see him much and having him dressed all in branded clothes, have all the latest gadgets etc.

Well last night I saw my best friend and her OH and got to meet her new little boy. He's going to be three weeks old on Monday. He woke up just in time for the lighting of the flame and fireworks. And I know he can't see properly but he seemed fascinated by all the lights on the tv. He was so sleepy and just nuzzling away in my arms. He got a few friendly kicks from my bubba :) they're hopefully going to get on well and be playmates. My friend went through a rough time ending in a c section and baby was a bit unwell for a few days, but now they're all getting on well at home and you can just see baby is so adored :) I tried to give OH the baby to hold as he's never held a new baby before. He said he wasn't sure as maybe he should save himself for holding our baby :rotfl: anyway he did hold the baby and didn't drop him or anything :) We didn't get home until half one this morning so feeling tired out.

Looks like another hot day outside. OH is working this morning so hopefully get some house sorting done later. I'll just enjoy my cuppa for now.
    Sorry for the long ramblings
Hugs to those that need them and labour vibes to those in need xxx

OMG it took me ages to read all the posts.

    My internet is back :j:j:j.

Congratulation to all new mummies and a warm welcome to the newbies.

Clothes: Just noticed that I need to buy some clothes as I can't fit in any of my clothes :D. Somebody posted a link to eBay and I would like to order some leggings but not sure how see through they are :D.Also I need a pair of jeans (perhaps H&M as we have a shop in my town) and some elegant trousers for work. Sooo :j that I can buy maternity clothes.

Also I think I stated feeling my little bean :j. I'm not 100% sure but it happened twice this week and both times I was sitting down. Looking forward to feel again.

Scan: In 2 weeks time I will have my 20 weeks scan. I'm a little bit nervous, which I know is normal, but I just want to get over with it. Perhaps after that I can enjoy my pregnancy even more.
    Rups when is yours?

Maternaty leave/stay at home: I never really understood how the tax credits worked. I will have to return to work as we don't really afford for me to take the whole maternaty leave but my mum can help us 2 or 3 days per week.

Who is entitled to get the child and working tax credits? We both work over 38 hours per week (and it will not change once the baby is here :() and the joint income is around £49.000 (sometimes more if I have to do overtime). I don't think we'll get anything...right?

Thanks everyone for the kind words, I'm feeling a bit more positive today, hopefully it will last. It's 7 years now and I thought being pregnant would make it a bit easier but I guess hormones and fears etc can amplify the feelings.

    Morning everyone!

I am SOOOO tired this morning - a combination of a couple of rubbish nights sleep and a late night watching the opening ceremony last night.

So, my dilemma for the day - have just had the delivery from John Lewis of our Maxi Cosi car seat, carrycot for pushchair and adaptors for attaching car seat to pushchair frame. BUT my OH is at work until 6 (!) and I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to open it all and look at it, but I will also get REALLY REALLY REALLY told off if I do it without OH! It's soooooooo frustrating!

Anyway... I am currently flicking between channels to watch as much of the Olympics as I can (so glad it's the summer holidays so I have the time to just sit and watch it) and I have also drawn lots of little diagrams of where everything could fit in our bedroom so that we can think about arranging it! Whoop whoop! :j

    Hope everyone's OK,

    Sam x

:rotfl:So true!! Everytime I lie down thinking of a nap/sleep bubba thinks it's party time! My whole belly wobbles and goes funny shapes.
Glad you're feeling better today :)

Tax credits Maybe the cut off is 49/50k joint income? I know there's working tax credits and child credits. It baffles me too. I think the HMRC (?) website is the place to go. I have been on there and put a fake DOB for bubba then as much info on our income as poss before and we weren't entitled. I think it goes on the last years income. But obviously it'll be lower for us once we're all on mat leave so I don't know.

Sam I've also done a few drawings of where we can put everything, so exciting! Can you not open the box and seal it all up again. I'm awful at waiting :o

Just put a couple of bits on ebay, but now I'm distracted by my rumbling tummy. Will make eggs on muffins I think. Watching the gymnastics atm....oh guess who has started wiggling about now I'm talking about food? This bubba is one greedy boy!!
