Sa-ra-ra we aren't entitled to anything. OH earns a good wage but our outgoings are high due to where we live. We could move into Croydon to spend less but our parents worked hard to get out of S London and therefore into better schools etc so we would feel bad if our kids were worse off than we were!

Full time childcare for us locally will be £1,200 at least :(

As much as that?! I was looking at nurseries in the South Croydon area (between work and home), and they were coming in around £1,000 per month (full time), which will be reduced a bit because we can both claim CC vouchers.

We're not entitled to anything either, which is a bit of a bum, but I suppose it's because we earn good money so can't complain too much!

I think schooling depends where you are in south London - I grew up in Sydenham and went to very good schools, but there's not much in the Croydon area, particularly at secondary level, unless you're prepared to pay for it. We'll probably look to move further into London down the line - both work and home-wise, we both grew up there and we're really as far out as we'd like to be.

As I have been a full
    Time
    Student for two years I
    Am
Entitled to nothing. Zero. Zilch. No job seekers no income
Support no maternity pay. My oh earns 14000 so we get tax credits but that plus his pay isn't enough to
Cover rent and bills even remotel never mind once the baby comes and my dd starts school. It's ridiculous.

    So I am going to
    Have to
Start working a day or two a week
    In
    October at the latest. Problem
Is then i will be self
Employed and I have no idea how
It affects tax credits. We are screwed. I don't even have enough to pay next months rent :(
love you lots like jelly tots :o

its tricky as DH was brought up with his mum at all with all 4 boys! so he wants that with me too and he has made sure his job pays well, however to be honest, as much as i want to stay home with bubba, i think i might miss that independence of earning, and i dont want to keep asking for money if i want a hair cut for example? i know it sounds selfish but if i can even work part time iwould love to. we have been told to clear off now to avoid the olympics rush so will head off soon and log on at home. xx
Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Little Kung fu bubba due on the 24th of December 2012. :j

I think you have to make the decision that's right for you and your family, taking into consideration everything - including your mental health!

I have a friend who decided not to go back to work after her daughter was born, and her mum was quite disappointed that my friend had chosen to take the 'good wife' route as her mum had been burning her bras in the '60's - but the whole point of the feminist movement was for women to have the right to choose whether to go to work or not, not so that they had to!

Thinking about it at the moment, I want to go back to work. I may change my mind. We'll play it by ear! DH was home schooled and has said that if it was feasible he'd be happy to stay at home and do that but a) it's not feasible - he earns more than me, and b) I have some fairly fundamental issues with home schooling so it's not going to happen!

Robyn - Congratulations on your little man :)

AMC - sounds like things are on the move, great stuff.

moneypenny - third trimester went mega quick! glad to hear you are team surprise, same here!

Rups - re massage i have been going to the same lady for over a year so i trust her. most massage therapists wont touch you when you are pregnant unless they are a special pregnancy massager which normally costs more than a regular massage.
do the tubes have aircon? i remember reading a while back they were going to do it for the olympics

i have had no pains since yesterday morning which is disappointing. i have people constantly asking me if i am feeling anything and the phone calls/texts from friends and family have started to ask if baby is here!! its going to drive me mad.

my sister and mum are trying to squeeze my secret baby names out of me lol

really dont like this hot weather, cant sit and enjoy it in the garden as its just too hot.

    i am number 4 on the list:D

wishing everyone a good nights sleep,

    Laura

Thanks I have checked tho. Definitely not entitled
To anything at all. I have worked since I was 16. Now 28 spent two years at Uni to get a career which I am now qualified in and am going to contribute to society and I would get more money being an unqualified layabout who just gets pregnant all the time. It makes me sooooo angry. But alas nothing I can do. It's self inflicted tho clearly unplanned pregnancy and I can't wait to meet our little boy. Bring on work so I can start earning the big bucks.
love you lots like jelly tots :o
