Aaahh, hugs to all those with sleep deprivation - I didn't sleep too well myself last night, and it's just starting to catch up with me now!
Another busy day at work - this is when I am supposed to be winding down and doing less and it's actually gone the other way. Trying to just take it all un my stride but I can feel then tension as I am trying to work my way through stuff. Finishing date is officially 5 weeks today, but may sneak off a couple of days early so I can avoid the embarrasing send off presentation round my desk!
Daft tabby cat is still not right, he is very skittish and has taken to sleeping in some weird places. He was giving me very dubious looks earlier as well and didn't really want to come near me (apart from when I went to feed him!) so I am starting to wonder if he is stressed cos of baby. It was something the nurse at the vets told me about - she has another cat that only ever gets cystitus when his owner is pregnant (she's on her third one now) so the nurse is convinced that there is something in it. I ordered a spray online yesterday that is supposed to help relax and calm cats so we'll give that a go. Funny, cos my other cat who is usually the very nervy, jumpy one is as affectionate as ever!
Got the nursery furniture coming tomorrow but still haven't cleared out the box room - oh dear! Guess I will be doing that tonight and early am before we head off for our antenatal classes. Was hoping to get the room painted as well, but guess we will just have to work round the furniture as best we can. Funny, I often have clear outs but I am still finding lots and lots to get rid of! Maybe I am just being that little bit more ruthless than I was before!
OH and I seem to be going through a bit a a weird time as well, one minute we are all happy and loved up the next we are sniping at each other. I'm hoping it's a combination of his tiredness and my hormones, but he has done a lot of nit picking at me lately and when I try to pull him up on it he just gets argumentative. I don't have the energy for it to be honest and I know he has had a lot on lately but hey, I'm 33 weeks pregnant and a bit of support would not go amiss!0 -
oh missmonkey moo. hugs to you. hope your cat is ok. sometimes they get so weird dont they? sorry to hear about you and OH. we also go through that. think its just a stressful time for both ofyou.
hope you get to enjoy some cuddles too. just told mine today i feel a bit neglected as DH is alwaysbusy planning his social nights out and he hasnt even taken me for dinner or cinema.

Anyone else getting worried about what to do once there maternity leave finishes? i can't stop thinking about it recently. I can't see how we can afford child care while i go back to work or how we could afford for me to not be in work. Ive been trying to work out what we could claim benefit wise but im just getting confused.....0 -

Errr yes I am... I looked at costings before we started TTC and I would be a tad better off to go to back to work by about £300 a month which meant we could just about afford everything...however the prices seem to have rocketed locally in the last couple of months so it looks like we will only be £70-£80 a month better off and i'm scared that by the time my boy is here and I think about going back to work we wont be able to afford our bills:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -
Dizsie, have you tried filling out a benefits entitlement calculatior with and without your salary details? It'll give you a better idea of what you'll get and whether it's worth you going back to work.
I know that I'm going to have to go back; we need my salary - we're already saving hard so that I can take the full year off. I think our childcare costs are going to be £750/£800 a month (and that's WITH one day at a relative's!) but I also think that I will need to go back to work for the sanity - I like my job (usually), and I like having my own money and adult conversation. I may change my mind though... I'm currently considering doing some more training to go into a slightly different field, which is clearly the thing to do with a tiny baby!0 -

i know its scares me abit when i think about it, i dont want to have to struggle with money. I think we could be entitled to child benefit £20 and working tax credits £60 so thats £80 a week. If i worked i would take home around £100 a week after paying for 3 days child care we would need, so i would work and not be with my little un to be £40 a week better off, plus the childcare prices are probably going to rise again next year.....0 -
toni sore subject in our house at the mo, OH doesn't want me to go back to work until baby is starting school! he doesn't like the idea of someone else bringing up our child, but I do actually like my job and was hoping to come back on reduced hours. I'm not sure that we will manage without two wages, and although childcare is expensive i still think that we would be better off than if I stayed at home. I've agreed with him that we will see how it goes when baby is here and that we'll make decisions when we see how we are managing with it all, but if I try to explain to him that it upsets me that he just thinks it's ok for me to walk away from everything that I have achieved in my job! My company was actually looking to promote me at the start of the year - which I turned down - that would have been a considerable boost career and moneywise, so if I'm honest I feel a bit cheated! I know that sounds awful and it's not that i am looking to put my job before baby, it's just that my job means something to me and OH can't seem to grasp that!0

Sa-ra-ra we aren't entitled to anything. OH earns a good wage but our outgoings are high due to where we live. We could move into Croydon to spend less but our parents worked hard to get out of S London and therefore into better schools etc so we would feel bad if our kids were worse off than we were!
Full time childcare for us locally will be £1,200 at least:jBaby Boy born December 20120
