OMG! My hospital bag is very lacking compared to others - possibly as I am hoping for my home birth - but also because I can't find most of the stuff I have bought!

My last day at work tomorrow :( - I got another pressie today and I said goodbye to a colleague who isn't in tomorrow. I need my job for structure to my life - I am going to have to put some structure into my year very quickly otherwise I will go mad!:D I am dreading being off work for a year at the moment - I am hoping it will grow on me!

Snozberry - good news about your placenta :T

Can everyone else above me in the list please slow down :D- I need more time to get my life organised before baby arrives!

Has anyone had a look at the hospital bag list? It seems a bit excessive on the "me" side? I've highlighted a couple of things I wouldn't think were necessary.

    Me:

    · Bag
    · Nightie/pyjamas - Shirt style with buttons down front. Dark colour.
    · Lightweight dressing gown
    · Bedsocks
    · Going home outfit
    · Old t-shirt/bikini for pool
    · T-shirt for OH
    · Carrier bags
    · Big knickers or old ones you don’t mind throwing away.
    · Maternity/soft bra
    · Nursing bra
    · Flip flops
    · Bouncing ball
    · Towel
    · Toiletries bag – witch hazel, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, breast pads, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel, scrubber, body lotion, make up, face wipes, bio oil, brush, bobbles, hair band, dry shampoo, alcohol wash, face wash, Maternity pads/ sanitary towels, moisturiser,
    · Maternity notes
    · Camera
    · Pack of playing cards
    · Books/magazines
    · Phone charger
    · Food/goodies
    · Arnica tablets - I don't even know what these are?
    · Paracetemol

    Baby:
    · Bag
    · 4 bodysuits
    · 4 sleepsuits
    · 8 nappies
    · Pramsuit
    · Baby wipes
    · Cotton wool (pads are best)
    · Mittens/hats/socks (depending on outfit)
    · Cellular blanket
    · Muslin squares
    · Vaseline (for first poo)
If you are having a C section you may need more nappies, bodysuits and sleepsuits.

I agree, I could barely muster the energy to shampoo my hair after child birth, I cant imagine anybody making the effort to do a full body scrub and moisturise.

Lol, for both my births I was severely lacking. I turned up with food, music, baby clothes /nappies and a change for me. Luckily I was only there for a Max of 6 hrs each time.

When you do go for a shower, remember to take your hospital tags off your wrist. I forgot, had a shower, washed my body and paper cut my nipple  made breastfeeding soooo much more fun :rotfl:

flip flops people often take to wear in the shower and saves bending also after my baby my ankles were really swollen and my shoes wouldnt fit! Arnica is for bruising i think but not sure, i would bother with cards or most the wash stuff lol.

I packed 2 bags one for labour then another in the car for if i needed to stay over night
Just take each day as it comes. :)
    Bump due 18th January :j

    Morning all,

Arm still really aching after WC jab, large hot red lump on it now too so had the worst nights sleep ever as I seem to only be comfy on my left side but can't lie on it at the mo!

Off to a friends wedding this weekend so get to see my Mum, Dad & Brother who I haven't seen for 2 months (We live 200 miles away so don't meet up often with work etc getting in the way)
Hoping my dress looks okay, just a plain maxi but fairly flattering I think as sits over bump nicely without being clingy if you know what I mean

Hope everyone's ok this morning and looking forward to BH weekend :)
New first time mummy to a gorgeous little boy!

    Congratulations Dippydooda :)

You know, I started off with four hospital bags (me, OH, baby, notes+snacks) but have managed to condense it all into two.
