I have a feeling mine will be quite big too. Both me and hubby were big babies and I have been measuring 1cm ahead at every appointment so far.

I don't mind really, I just hope she fits into her newborn stuff for at least a while, it's so pretty :-)

When does swelling usually start happening? This morning my foot felt a bit tingly and I'm wondering if its time to take my rings off :-/

I just check my rings at night and then first thing in the morning, but so far (touch wood!) I haven't had any swelling. I'm 33+5...

I think my Mum said that she didn't have any swelling with me or my sis so maybe I will be the same. Fingers crossed!

I've just realised, I've only been measured once. The midwife usually just has a feel and then says that the size feels fine. Uh oh! Should I ask to be measured? Lol! Maybe they will at my next appointment...

Has anyone had a look at the hospital bag list? It seems a bit excessive on the "me" side? I've highlighted a couple of things I wouldn't think were necessary.

    Me:

    · Bag
    · Nightie/pyjamas - Shirt style with buttons down front. Dark colour.
    · Lightweight dressing gown
    · Bedsocks
    · Going home outfit
    · Old t-shirt/bikini for pool
    · T-shirt for OH
    · Carrier bags
    · Big knickers or old ones you don’t mind throwing away.
    · Maternity/soft bra
    · Nursing bra
    · Flip flops
    · Bouncing ball
    · Towel
    · Toiletries bag – witch hazel, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, breast pads, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel, scrubber, body lotion, make up, face wipes, bio oil, brush, bobbles, hair band, dry shampoo, alcohol wash, face wash, Maternity pads/ sanitary towels, moisturiser,
    · Maternity notes
    · Camera
    · Pack of playing cards
    · Books/magazines
    · Phone charger
    · Food/goodies
    · Arnica tablets - I don't even know what these are?
    · Paracetemol

    Baby:
    · Bag
    · 4 bodysuits
    · 4 sleepsuits
    · 8 nappies
    · Pramsuit
    · Baby wipes
    · Cotton wool (pads are best)
    · Mittens/hats/socks (depending on outfit)
    · Cellular blanket
    · Muslin squares
    · Vaseline (for first poo)
If you are having a C section you may need more nappies, bodysuits and sleepsuits.

I think the flip flops are as an alternative to slippers, if you're in for a while and need to go for a wander. I live in my flip flops at the moment, so they'll be going with me anyway.

Witch hazel is supposed to be nice and soothing if you soak some into your maternity pad afterwards. I have some, but won't be taking it with me.

Toiletries bag - just take whatever you'd normally want if you were staying overnight somewhere. I have face wash in mine, but that's there instead of face wipes.

Playing cards I assume are to keep you entertained if you're sitting around. I'm taking my kindle and a magazine, but hope to need neither as I want to be out asap!

And arnica is a homeopathic remedy that's supposed to help with healing afterwards. Depends on whether you believe in the homeopathic nonsense, really.

On the subject of swelling, my feet have been coming up like balloons for the last few weeks, but so far no swelling in my hands.

I think a lot of stuff on that list is probably not necessary.

From memory for me I just took in toiletries/toothbrush etc, a nightie, slippers and a dressing gown. Breast pads/maternity pads/snacks - flapjacks etc.

For baby I just took a few babygro's, some nappies (although the hospital did supply those) and that was about it I think.

I was too dazed after it all to need entertainment like books/music etc!

So 27 weeks today for me..time is flying. Got back late last night from 3 days in Budapest on a work trip which was pretty exhausting. Typically the day I left (Monday) DS went down with some kind of virus and has had a raging fever on and off since then. Poor OH who was left as daddy daycare whilst I was away had to pick up up early from nursery on Tuesday as he wasn't good, and had to take Weds off too as DS wasn't well enough to go to the childminder.

Hes only been in his new job a few weeks..oops!

I don't want to stuff my bag full of unnecessary stuff, I was thinking of a list more like kayalana's. I'm not thinking of packing it now anyway, just like to know what I need!

I can't imagine wanting to break out a deck of playing cards though :rotfl:

Every time I go they measure me, I'm sure if they felt you needed measuring each time they would. Maybe mention it next time you go?
